Wonderful nursery with the loveliest staff. Both my children have attended since 11 months old and have both absolutely flourished in all areas of development. The staff are amazing with the children and there are really good parent-teacher relationships, making it easier to leave your child for the
day. Both of my children look forward to coming to nursery, they attend 3 days a week and have so much fun. They're also very well-fed, with my eldest loving all the new food he gets to try.

Amazing nursery, recommend it far and wide. Staff are very professional, however friendly and approachable. They demonstrate and display understanding of children's development in detail and share they share information regarding your child's milestones as well as any improvements your child could make.
Always give a full handover of what your child has done and ate that day which is very helpful. Very happy with the nursery all around from managing allergies to go above and beyond for supporting the children and helping the children reach their full potential. Find it very helpful how flexible the nursery is in regards to needing to change days around to suit shifts. Used this nursery for around 4 years and wouldn't go anywhere else as has been outstanding in my opinion and recommend it to friends who also now use the nursery.

Couldn't recommend this nursery enough. All the staff are lovely and friendly and can't help enough. My daughter has come on leaps and bounds since starting and comes home singing new songs and telling me what she's learnt.

Both my sons have attended The Montessori Nursery and both absolutely thrived. I currently have one son there and he goes into nursery every day with a smile. The nursery team are warm and welcoming. They are always eager to listen to your concerns, give you advice and guide your children to their specific
needs. Educationally they are a cut above the rest and my oldest son certainly started school with an excellent base to leap from. From the baby room all the way through to preschool, all the rooms, their leaders and staff are well-trained, very caring and absolutely welcoming. Both my sons have certainly gained confidence through The Montessori and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them to friends and family for childcare needs.

Outstanding nursery. Nurturing, kind and really caring about the children in their care and the support they give to parents. Both of my children went here, I recommend it to everyone. Both my children attend this Nursery and I honestly can't recommend them highly enough. They are nurturing, kind, friendly staff who always have high expectations for my two children and facilitate their development in all areas. Communication between home and nursery is great and the staff are accommodating
and flexible when we need something different.
My little girl is about to leave to go to primary school and they have worked so hard to ensure she is prepared, excited and happy to take this next step. They have even contacted her new teachers and invited them in to see my daughter in the nursery where she is in a familiar environment. My daughter loves playing 'teachers' and the language and strategies you can hear her mimicking show how respectfully and nicely the staff speak to the children.
My son has recently transitioned from the baby room to the toddler room and again they worked hard to ensure this was a smooth transition for him with lots of preparation work and pre-visits.

The biggest strength of the nursery is the staff! Staff are helpful, supportive and always welcoming. They go above and beyond to make parents and children feel happy and staff are always willing to listen to the routines we would like our children to follow. It's clear that the staff genuinely care
about the children, their welfare and their development. It is reassuring as a parent that we are leaving our children in the care of such wonderful and thoughtful people. The nursery itself as a venue is always well maintained and the rooms and outdoor spaces provide fantastic opportunities and activities for the children to thrive. The handovers and parents' evenings showcase their knowledge and the level of detail and information they have gathered about our children of fantastic. Our children are happy and love attending this nursery. From animal experiences and library visitors to phonics sessions and school preparation, this nursery provides everything you could wish for as a parent.

We looked around several nurseries in the area and I left each with the feeling of 'it will do' but I am so glad we kept looking because as soon as I visited I knew it was perfect. The day we visited she didn't want to leave, which speaks volumes! Plus, all the other children in the preschool all looked
to be having a good time and the staff interacted with them all.
The manager was great to speak with and showed me around the nursery, answering all my questions. The preschool room is a lovely space which felt clean and calm. My daughter loves her days at preschool and tells me about all the things she gets up to in the day.
Her key worker is great at keeping us up to date with her day and things they are working towards. All the staff I have encountered have been really lovely and always make an effort to talk to my daughter, even when they are just passing by on drop-offs. I am really happy with the progress my daughter has made since starting.

When looking at nurseries for my daughter I couldn't see myself leaving her anywhere. Then we visited the Montessori People and she ran straight in and we didn't look back. They were amazing with her and she came on amazingly and is thriving at school. When looking to start my son, he was completely
different and very clingy and they have been equally great with him settling him well and he's excited and ready to start his journey into school later this year too. Staff are so friendly and great with the kids and the parents; nothing is too much trouble no matter how worried you are or how many questions you have or how many times you call to check they're ok.
They are also allergy-aware and have been great with my son's dietary requirements.

I could not praise the Montessori Nursery more. My little girl started when she was 10 months old and as first-time parents, we were very nervous but the nursery put our minds at ease and now she is about to graduate from preschool. The nursery helped our little girl socially, physically and cognitively.
They supported us when she was toilet training as well as giving us daily feedback on her sleeping and eating. The food is all prepared by their chef and the children learn to sit in a dining room with their friends.
As she's moved to the older rooms, she has had targets to work on and we have had parent's evenings to discuss how she is getting on. Our girl loves learning and the staff have followed her lead with this; supporting her to read and write reception-level work. She's had weekly music lessons as well as visiting the library and the local care home. The staff are welcoming and friendly and they are happy to listen if you have any questions or concerns. We will miss the nursery come September.

My daughter has been coming to Montessori People Nursery since she was 6 months old and is due to leave this year, ready for reception, I loved the feel about it so much, and I don't want her to leave, but since her being here they have brought her on so much, the staff are extremely friendly, and make
my daughter feel at such ease with coming to nursery every day, she is never frightened to go, she loves it, they do so much with the kids it's really good.

My son started here in April 2018 since he has been attending he has become more confident in everything he does. Although my son can be a handful sometimes the staff are very happy to have him. After looking around many nurseries in the area, we knew as soon as we stepped in this one it was right for us. The atmosphere, staff and learning opportunities are all fantastic. My son enjoys his time at nursery and has made great progress personally, socially and academically despite only attending
two days a week. Parents are kept well informed about their child’s day and the staff go over and above making you and your child feel welcome and relaxed. We are confident in the knowledge that our son is happy and well cared for which makes it so much easier leaving him to go to work. The nursery is also very flexible and accommodating when it comes to hours/days which was important to us when choosing a nursery.

Both of my children, now aged 7 and 3 have attended The Montessori People Nursery for around 18 months to 2 years, and I cannot recommend it highly enough. My daughter started nursery in 2013, and my son in 2016 and I was pleased to see many familiar faces the second time around. All of the girls in
the nursery are caring and nurturing, and I know that my children are in safe hands. Both of my children loved attending the nursery, and I will be sad when my son leaves next week, as they really do make you feel part of a big happy family. The nursery rooms are bright, open spaces with plenty of room for the kids to run around, and is always clean. On occasion, I have requested additional hours/days at short notice, and they have always been able to accommodate my request (providing they are still within their agreed quota), and nothing is ever too much trouble. I would absolutely recommend the nursery to friends and family.

I couldn't recommend this nursery enough! When it was time to put our daughter into daycare, we looked around some of the highest rated in the area and The Montessori People blew them all away from the off. They have exceeded all expectations and have been fantastic for my little girl. Great staff,

My little girl (2.5 years) and little boy (1.5 years) have been attending this nursery for the last 7 months and they absolutely love it. I visited several nurseries but this nursery was by far the best one with friendly staff and lovely clean rooms. What attracted me most was the separate baby, toddler
and tweenie rooms. In the early days, I would ring daily to check on the children and the staff would always reassure me. The staff provide excellent support and a flexible approach which is very helpful to manage with work commitments. Overall, my children have developed tremendously since attending the nursery.

My son has attended 'The Montessori People' nursery since the age of 8 months. He has progressed through babies, toddlers, tweenies and pre-school, we decided he would complete his first foundation year at Montessori due to the fantastic work, commitment and dedication of all staff. His development
during his time at Montessori has been excellent and he has hit key milestones on or ahead of target. The learning is always relevant but fun and parents are always kept up to date and encouraged to participate in the child's learning and development. The nursery is open from 7 am until 6 pm, ideal for busy working parents. I would not hesitate in recommending the services provided by 'The Montessori People', so much so that my son started school in September 2017 but still attends Montessori for breakfast, after school and during school holidays. This is more than just before and after school care, the staff are still stretching and challenging him in areas relevant to his school work.

Following a joint decision with my childminder, that this was not the best childcare option for my daughter, due to her becoming too distressed each time she attended, I felt anxious about finding her somewhere else to go whilst I was at work. Both of my nephews attended the Nursery and my family had
nothing but good things to say, so we decided to have a look around. When we arrived, the staff were very welcoming and showed us around. The following week, she started taster sessions, then was a regular in the nursery two days a week.


The staff in the baby room are second to none. My daughter will hold out her arms to go to them, even when she has not seen them for five days and has developed a lovely relationship with them. She has had a variety of foods and has developed her skills significantly. I can't thank the staff enough for how welcoming they are and professional in every aspect. An excellent Nursery and any parent would be lucky to be able to get a place there for their child.

Hello, my name is Cheryl


I started my career in education at eighteen years old. I worked within the voluntary sector with Teesside University and Middlesbrough Local Authority whilst studying, and I discovered my passion for working with children.


I graduated with a degree in Youth Studies in June 2008.


In September 2010, I began a new journey to start a Postgraduate Certificate in Early Years Practice at the University of Northumbria. I chose this course as it offered learning on a part-time basis which would work alongside my work commitments and allow me the opportunity to learn within a recognised and respected university.
