My little girl was a Busy Bee from August 2021 until December 2024 (relocation).
From day one, the level of care was 10/10. Each member of staff, whether in my child's room or not, made a point to know every child in the nursery and was always so friendly and helpful to me and my partner. The food
provided to the children was incredible and always was a part of a balanced diet, including fruit/vegetables with all meals.
My child's development whilst at Busy Bees has been astounding and we couldn't have been any happier with her learning and development during her time there. We also would always be kept up to date with her day through the information app.
They also provide each child a key worker, there are truly no words to explain how amazing my child's key worker is and how much she means to our family.
The centre director... Honestly, again, there are no words to explain how amazing she is and how much she not only cares for the kids but parents too!

Two of my children attend Busy Bees on Dean Terrace. I really want to say thank you for all the staff members for the excellent care and love they surround our children with. I would definitely recommend this nursery to all parents in Stockbridge.

I have been a parent since 2016 when my eldest joined. My youngest is currently in pre-school. The staff make this nursery, and the Manager and her team work very hard to ensure the children are engaged and happy. Location means outdoor space is limited but they make full use of the garden at the back
and the local area. They are out every day. My youngest had a severe milk allergy when she joined and the chef was superb in catering for her. My daughter is very happy and indeed I get shouted at if I pick her up too early, which says it all really. Highly recommend.

My son was born during lockdown so nursery was a very tough experience for him. The nursery were very caring at helping us through this and his confidence has come on leaps and bounds since. We are seeing huge development strides every time he comes home.

I cannot recommend New Town Nursery enough. Not only are the levels of care exceptional, with tailored care, meals and contact to meet each individual child and parent's needs, but my son loves going to nursery and always comes home happy, excited to tell us about his day and tired from the wide array
of activities. They spend a great deal of time outdoors, which can often be hard to find in a city centre establishment, and allows for a different side of learning, adored by the children.
The staff are always warm and friendly, yet professional and the nursery management are quick to reply or make contact whenever an issue is raised.

My son is currently attending and my daughter attended previously, we have always found the staff excellent, the facilities are good given the space limitations, having access to the gardens helps. The administration has markedly improved in the last couple of years, and the current centre manager is
superb, always extremely helpful and quick to respond to communications.

My little boy is 10-months-old and had been attending the nursery for the last couple of months. As he was born during lockdown he hadn’t had much interaction with other adults and children and had spent the majority of his time with me so it was a big step to send him to nursery. I couldn’t be more
pleased with how it is going, the staff are great with my little boy and he has a big smile on his face when I drop him off and pick him up. He has been doing lots of fun learning activities and I have noticed a big jump in his development. The communication from the staff to myself is also great too. He also receives a good variety of healthy foods. A great nursery with lovely staff.

My daughter joined the nursery in mid-March this year at just over 1 year old. She settled in immediately and that is absolutely due to the lovely staff and the fun, stimulating environment. She really enjoys playing with her peers, something so essential after her (lonely) experience of lockdown.

They have been great with both our children and very supportive over the last year. Good open communication with management and both children enjoy going into nursery which is the key sign of a good place!

My son has been attending this nursery since he was 11 months old (he is now nearly 4), and in this time the nursery has gone from strength to strength. It's such a relief to know that he enjoys the atmosphere. His friends, teachers, the activities and looks forward to the days he attends. Highly recommend.

My son started at this nursery in January 2021 during lockdown aged 7-months-old. The manager and staff really worked hard to make the transition as smooth as possible despite all the restrictions they had to follow, my son had never met any babies before but settled right in thanks to the warmth of
the staff. They have been wonderful about adapting with us as we changed his routine at home. For example, when we decided to get rid of his pacifier. He loves the varied activities they provide, especially the sensory and messy play. He always smiles as he is dropped off and when he is picked up and clearly has a lovely bond with his keyworker.

The nursery has been great for my 20-month-old son. After growing up with the lockdown he had not met other babies/children. The staff have been great with him and he has grown in confidence. The facilities are excellent and my son really enjoys his time there.

My 2 and a half year old daughter is excited to go to nursery every day. We have seen lots of improvement in her fine motor and language skills in the 2 months that she has been going and attending. She loves playing in the back garden and going on walks as well as the messy play activities that the
nursery offers. Her key worker is communicative and friendly. And we have only had pleasant experiences with the manager and all the other staff. The frequent updates on the learning journals app is very helpful.

My daughter has been at Dean Terrace since she turned 1 and has always enjoyed going in. She loves talking to me about her pals and the activities they do and what they eat. My daughter definitely gets a great range of new experiences at nursery and that is appreciated by the whole family. It is clear
that she feels safe and looked after when she is there.
The staff and director have been great with covid and lockdown. My daughter kept going to nursery throughout lockdown and as such moved nurseries a few times but was able to stay within the Busy Bees family. The staff managed the disruption in a way that kept some continuity. This made it feel easier for all of us.

After we moved house, our son transitioned to this nursery. He was already a toddler and had been going to nursery regularly but this was a new location, new language as the previous nursery was in Dutch and all during Covid-19. We only have good things to say, the staff made a huge effort around Christmas
with loads of great activities including a Polar Express day where they welcomed the kids at the door with a special train ticket. They also made a huge effort to welcome the children back after lockdown ended in February. The manager sends regular, proactive updates about the nursery and has been very organised during Covid-19. They often take the kids for walks in the local area, on other days they play in the nursery's newly upgraded garden. The staff give the impression of being tireless. Happy to recommend.

Since moving to the area in August 2020 and my two girls starting here, we have a really great experience with this nursery. The staff are friendly and most importantly, my children speak of them with warmth and the fun they've had together. The girls settled in well and always run in, with only a quick
bye back to me, which I take as a good sign! I have been happy with the food provided and the amount of outside time they have, with them often going for local walks. We are updated via an online learning journal which works well and the centre director communicates any important messages via email. The nursery are also great at celebrating seasonal events and festivals, it's always fun to receive whatever craft creation they've been making related to this!

Our son joined New Town Nursery when he was nine months old and even though he was very young, the friendly and caring teachers helped him to join in activities where he could, so he could develop skills and have fun. He is always happy to go and reaches for his teachers the minute we approach the door
to drop him off. I feel they are doing a great balance of indoor as well as outdoor activities and often take the children to the nice parks in the area. The nursery offers an online journal, which is especially handy since Covid-19 means that parents can't enter the building. The journal offers an overview of the child's daily activities, when they slept and what they ate. It also shows observations of skills and has pictures, which is always a treat to see. I would definitely recommend this nursery.

We have been attending New Town Nursery for nearly 5-years now with our 2 daughters attending 3 days a week. The staff are exceptional, so welcoming and extremely trust worthy. The nursery itself is a warm, safe and comfortable space and we would highly recommend. An extra thanks go out to the management
at New Town Nursery for handling the uncertain COVID journey so well and for putting our minds at ease when returning following lockdown.

Our baby has been attending the nursery for about a year and I could not recommend it more. Absolutely all of the staff have been so wonderful in welcoming him and us and have created an environment that always makes him excited when he sees the front door and is greeted by the staff. Despite a significant
amount of our time there having been impacted by Covid-19 and thus not being able to enter the nursery and with it periodically being shut in line with government regulation, they have done such a great job of keeping us updated on the developing situation. From emailing us, posting an online diary and pictures of our son and making us feel included. They also seem to have a significant amount of activities for the holidays and other special days and have recently expanded with a little outdoor play area as well. Our experience has been nothing but positive so far, would recommend!

Current Review Score: 8.1 (8.091)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.1 (8.091) out of 10 for Busy Bees Edinburgh Dean Terrace is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 1 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.1 out of 5 from 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

The Average Rating of 5.000 for Busy Bees Edinburgh Dean Terrace is calculated as follows: ( (12 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 12 Ratings = 5

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.091 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Busy Bees Edinburgh Dean Terrace is based on 1 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 = 3

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 55 number of registered child places is 11. 1 Positive Reviews ÷ 11 = 0.091

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
