The Pied Piper Nursery is ideally located close to Shawlands shopping centre and train station and provides a newly-refurbished, home-from-home setting for children aged 12 weeks to five years.

Led by a passionate and caring team, the nursery is filled with hand-picked resources (natural where possible) to encourage self-directed play and discovery.

The nursery also offers secure outdoor space including sensory shed to enjoy fun in the fresh air. The team also takes regular trips out to local green spots to further make the most of the natural world.

Pied Piper loves getting the best out of each and every child and offers a safe, homely and nurturing space where children can thrive at their own pace.

All three of our children were at Pied Piper Nursery from ages 1 to 5 and they were very happy there.
The staff seem to genuinely care for the children and are very active in coming up with activities that help them develop.
The management has also been delightful to deal with over the years.

We have had a great experience with Pied Piper. Our wee boy has been really well looked after. He’s recently moved to the toddler room and found the transition a little difficult, but the staff have been really supportive. The food they get is all really healthy, and the app is brilliant in terms of
updates. Anytime we are concerned about our wee boy or looking for an update, we message and get an update. The staff have also been good at discussing child development with us. I would really recommend the nursey if you are looking for a nurturing environment with staff who take a real interest in your child.

The staff went the extra mile to help my little one settle in. Receiving regular updates via the nursery app is very reassuring. The staff are relaxed and so welcoming to all the children, that my little guy now skips into the nursery. I would definitely recommend it to other parents.

Our child is very shy natured and we were worried after lockdown and no toddler groups that she would struggle starting nursery at 3. The staff at Pied Piper have been so supportive and great at keeping in contact. There is a great variety of imaginative activities and our daughter has settled incredibly

Pied Piper has been a great experience for our daughter right from the start!


Our daughter has been at Pied Piper for about 3 months now. She was 8 months old when she started and we were nervous about her being quite young and due to Covid we couldn't accompany her inside. The staff were amazing

though and reassured both us and our daughter who did not want to part from us at first. They won her over really fast and she settled really quickly. We know she is in the best hands at nursery and she loves going and playing with her new friends. We get updates throughout the day and most days we get to see pictures of what she has been up to during the day. The nursery exposes her to so many more different sensory, cognitive and motoric experiences than what I could offer my daughter. She is absolutely thriving!

We feel our son is being really well looked after, he is developing every day and making friends. Communication between us and his teachers is great and we can message them any time for an update on how he is doing. We have been well supported when our son has had challenging behaviour and we respect
and trust his teachers’ assessment and advice. We highly recommend this nursery and our youngest son will be starting there soon.

My daughter has loved her time at Pied Piper. The carers are all very warm and interested in the children and they have great fun. The facilities were updated a couple of years ago and the rooms are all perfect for child-led play. Great use of outdoor space - both at the nursery, and with trips to the
park etc. Management is always professional and understanding of family needs. There is a genuine desire to hear from parents and continuously improve the experience for everyone.

My son has attended Pied Piper since he was two and he’s now transitioning into Primary school. The staff are exceptional. I can’t even begin with this one. When my child enrolled, he was in the process of being diagnosed with Autism. The nursery has been a few steps ahead and set out a plan for my
child with our involvement. They accommodate his sensory needs and his key workers have all been so lovely and welcoming and I know they genuinely care for my son. The headteacher is absolutely lovely and very approachable and open to feedback which I love.


There have been a few hiccups over the years but they’ve always been receptive to feedback. More recently they promoted an existing staff member (who was my child’s key worker and also trained in makaton) into a SEN point of contact for the nursery which I think is a great step forward and necessary to make the environment inclusive. My child is very happy when he goes to nursery and my mind is at rest when he’s there.

This is an excellent nursery. The team are so friendly and caring. They take time to get to know you and your baby. I cannot rate it highly enough. They do activities every day with the babies. They take them outside daily. They feed them breakfast, lunch and a good snack in the afternoon so they are
not too hungry when they are picked up. I am thrilled with how well it is going since we started. They are very happy to use cloth nappies. They use the family app so you know what your child has to eat and how much they sleep and reply to messages very quickly. I would recommend.

Both my sons attend Pied Piper. It’s a lovely nursery. We chose it for its homely feel. The boys are well looked after and have both been very happy here.

We put our daughter into Pied Piper quite young (I believe she was 4.5 months). They were able to adapt to our set schedules for her since day one. Now she is a thriving 1-year-old and we couldn't be more pleased. We believe Pied Piper has a lot to do with her solid physical and mental development and
of course her socialisation skills - which is key with a pandemic baby! Sadly, we are moving abroad so we will have to say goodbye to Pied Piper and its lovely staff. That's what prompted me to write this review, as I remember it was this set of reviews that guided me to them in the first place. Highly recommend! Lovely staff, tons of activities/themed days, emphasis on outdoor play, great communication on the nursery app.

I would highly recommend and could not fault Pied Piper Nursery. Our son, born during lockdown, was not used to being away from me and I was reluctant and worried about leaving him with anyone, including family, never mind in a nursery with people we didn’t know. Being my third child I had of course
done my research and on paper, this nursery ticked all the boxes and stood out from the crowd as a stand-alone winner. My expectations were exceeded! The warm welcome from day one, the care, dedication, patience, support all the staff provide to the children and parents is second to none. My son settled in nicely allowing me to go to work worry-free. He has been at the nursery for 6 months now and absolutely loves it. The staff are out of this world. It is a clean, safe and supportive environment and he is encouraged to be kind, bold and confident. I love the updates and photos we receive via the app giving us parents peace of mind. Cannot recommend Pied Piper nursery highly enough. Having relocated from London with 2 boys (2 and 4) we were hoping to find the right nursery to support our children with the transition and to provide a calm and fun environment for them to develop, grow and make friends in. We have found the staff
wonderful - supportive, kind, patient and calm, with lots of fun activities and imaginative themes and events across their time so far. Our 4 year old only came for one month before transferring to primary school, but still talks about the staff and is always keen to visit when we collect his younger brother. They both looked forward to going to nursery which is fantastic. Compared to other nurseries we have attended, the management is in our opinion, the best we have come across - calm, organised, adaptive and personal and this appears to filter down to all staff and our children's experience. Feel very glad to have found such a great nursery and would recommend to children of all ages.

Both our sons attended Pied Piper from a young age, and our youngest is now about to start school. We liked the nursery immediately as it felt warm and homely, and the staff were very welcoming. Over the years both our children have loved attending nursery and there has been a good balance of fun, and
getting the children ready for school. Our boys have formed some lovely friendships at nursery, and have always been well supported by the staff. There have been a lot of improvements to the garden and playrooms over the last couple of years which are great, but ultimately the staff are the most important part of a nursery and they are outstanding. I was diagnosed with cancer when both our boys were at nursery - knowing how well they were looked after took a huge weight off my mind while I was going through treatment. The nursery has been a big part of our lives for several years; I will miss it and would thoroughly recommend it to other parents.

Hello, my name is Carrie


I started my career at eighteen-years-old. I worked within the voluntary sector with the YMCA in Dumfries and I discovered my passion for working with children aged six weeks to five years.


I started a course shortly after starting with the company called Early Learning and Childcare. Upon completion I was assigned the role room leader shortly after I was a qualified member of staff. I worked with this establishment for over five years, before I was assigned a new role within a nature nursery.


I decided in 2014, I wanted to enhance my learning opportunities so I started my BA (Hons) Working with Children and Families in Carlisle and graduated in June 2016 with my degree.


Upon completion of my degree I realised I wanted to continue my passion to work in the EY sector and I moved to Glasgow with my husband to begin my new management role in the private sector.


Within my new role, in Jan 2018, I started my manager's post at Pied Piper Nursery and the overall Nursery ethos and values are what drew me to the position. I was very inspired throughout the years and followed the Reggio Emilia and Frobel's theories about the natural world and children's play through their naturalistic environment.


In September 2019, I began a new journey to start my MED Childhood Practice (Masters in Education). I chose this course as it offered on a part-time basis which would work alongside my work commitments and allow me the opportunity to learn within a recognised and respected university.
