A fantastic nursery/preschool! I would highly recommend using Tigers. My son has grown in confidence so much here. Learning through play and making friends and memories! The staff are brilliant, kind and are always willing to help out, even at short notice. My son loves it here and we will be sad to
move on to school in September! Thanks to the Tigers team.

My little girl started a year ago when she was only 8 months old, I had to return to uni full time and they just made this transition so easy for me as my daughter bonded with the staff so quickly and we both felt so comfortable with the staff and it made my journey so much easier being able to confidently
leave my child happy at nursery. She is now 21 months and is absolutely thriving they are continuously providing educational activities and opportunities for my child to learn and develop and she is already fluently talking and signing and demonstrating actions to nursery rhymes. Her social skills are fantastic and she is just an all-round confident, happy child and this is all thanks to the care Tigers have given her. They offer very in-depth observations and pictures each day about what my child has been up to, and now restrictions have eased, are offering parents to play finally giving us the chance to meet each other and see what our children get up to! Their sensory room is fantastic.

My son has been attending Tigers since March 2020 and has moved through 3 different ages rooms in his time there. He has absolutely loved his time in each room and formed lovely relationships with all of the staff members, even though he attends part-time. His development and speech have come along
so well, and additionally, his picky eating doesn’t seem to be too much of an issue at the nursery! The nursery have been very accommodating for us, as a family, when we have needed to adjust his hours/days, and were just superb during lockdown - keeping in touch, sending postcards to the children and regularly updating us on the app. I would confidently recommend Tigers to any prospective parent.

My little boy joined Tigers Day Nursery in May 2021, as a lockdown baby it was a difficult transition into nursery, however the carer's in his room have been absolutely amazing and within a short space of time he was settled into the nursery, and that is all thanks to the wonderful staff in his room.
My little boy's speech & confidence is incredible now, he absolutely loves the nursery! The facilities at the nursery are great from the gardens, bubble room and all of the toys/activities in the room. I would highly recommend Tigers Day Nursery.

We have been extremely happy with Tigers Day Nursery, having sent both of our daughters there. All of the staff are kind, friendly and professional and the children loved going. They have a wonderful outside space to use (the Wild Garden), the food is great (all cooked onsite) and the activities are
fun and involving for the kids. A wonderful choice for your child.

From the first email with the manager about a place for my little girl, they have been so welcoming. My daughter has been with Tigers Day Nursery for 4 months and she absolutely loves it, she can't wait to go and she won't stop talking about her day when she's home. Her speech and confidence have come
along brilliantly since being with Tigers. I do like the fact they have an app where you can see what they have eaten and also what they have done. You can also upload your own pictures. So glad my daughter is at this nursery.

Tigers Day Nursery is a wonderful nursery. My child has been extremely happy since she started in September 2020. This month we have had activities for parents to go in and engage in the wonderful outdoor gardens which is very welcome following lockdown. They always have my child’s well-being at the
top of their priority list. The staff are lovely and I cannot praise this nursery enough.

A fantastic bunch of people to deal with who are great at their job and passionate about the children. It was great to be able to see the nursery since the covid restrictions had lifted so I thank you all for letting us visit and for continuing to deliver a great service.

My overall experience with Tigers Day Nursery is extremely pleasant. My child has come a long way since she started going to Tigers. Every morning she looks forward to going to nursery and to see her friends which really pleases me as a mother as my child is happy to go to nursery. All the staff of
the nursery is wonderful and so helpful and patient. I made the right decision by deciding to send my child to Tigers and can’t recommend them enough.

Tigers Day Nursery have been incredible, during covid the previous nursery my daughter attended shut down unexpectedly. Tigers were so accommodating and understanding, my daughter was welcomed with open arms. I always thought highly of that previous nursery until we moved to Tigers, that was only when
I realised actually how much better Tigers was, with everything - communication, activities with the children, how they interact with the children, parent involvement. It gives me such peace of mind and happiness each day knowing my child is somewhere safe, fun and well cared for. Thank you to all at Tigers!

Our daughter has attended the nursery for 2 years and she absolutely loves it. I cannot recommend the nursery enough. The facilities are amazing, the staff are lovely and the setting is gorgeous. Every single team member is so lovely, professional and all really enjoy their jobs. My daughter has grown
and developed so much since starting. She adores all the team and has made friends for life. She is constantly driven to learn and the experiences she has had at the nursery have contributed to her ability and development. We love the nursery so much and will be really sad when she leaves.

Tigers Day Nursery is an exceptional nursery! My two year old is in her 3rd room having started off in the baby room, moved up to the 1-2 room, and now is in the 2-3 room. She comes home absolutely bursting with joy and new knowledge. The curriculum side of things is incredible. My youngest has just
moved from the baby room to the 1-2 room. He is always beaming from ear to ear when I pick him up. I would recommend Tigers, and have done so, to anyone looking for a nursery!

I cannot fault Tigers Day Nursery. The staff are all amazing and the facilities are perfect. I have one child there and one who was there for 2 years before starting school. I will be so sad to say goodbye this summer when he leaves for school. The open outdoor spaces are brilliant and the site is well
maintained. The rooms are welcoming and they also have a sensory room and small studio for indoor sessions when the weather is bad (although they are also great at getting fresh air in all weather!). I was very nervous about leaving my children initially, but I know they are in safe and caring hands. I like to think the staff all take pride in being part of such a lovely nursery and genuinely care for my children. I know friends with older children who have had the same positive experiences from over 10 years ago too.

My firstborn son has been at Tigers since he was 12 months old and will be there until he starts school later this year. He absolutely loves it. He is very happy there and the carers have been amazing to ensure that. Everyone has been amazing to stimulate learning through play and his development has
been great. Food is balanced and the nursery ensures that the children have nutritious and healthy meals. Both indoor and outdoor space is great. The nursery have been brilliant during the pandemic and I’ve always felt my son has been kept safe. My second born is starting nursery this month and I have had zero hesitation in sending him there. I highly recommend Tigers Day Nursery.

The staff in the happy hippos are fantastic. They really make my daughters days at nursery special. Whether it be from encouragement to try new things, help with activities, storytime, providing a safe space etc. The activities the nursery take part in each month and all of the themed learning are all
little extras to keep each week thoroughly entertaining. Thank you!

Current Review Score: 9.0 (8.987)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.0 (8.987) out of 10 for Tigers Day Nursery is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.2 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.806 for Tigers Day Nursery is calculated as follows: ( (87 Excellents x 5) + (21 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 108 Ratings = 4.806

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.181 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Tigers Day Nursery is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 160 number of registered child places is 32. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 32 = 0.281

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Hello, my name is Cara, I have recently joined Tigers as an operations manager.

I have a background in Education, specialising in Early Years. I have always been drawn to Early Years, primarily as an Early Years teacher, Leader and Manager of Nurseries, Montessori and mainstream schools. I have a wealth of experience that I draw on constantly, from being a Forest School Leader, Inclusion Officer and a Signalong Tutor.

I am extremely passionate about our youngest children. I enjoy learning new skills, constantly researching new ways to teach and support children, and training and supporting other practitioners to ensure we meet each individual child’s needs to become independent learners.

I am super excited to have joined Tigers, and to be part of this wonderful team here.

Hi, I’m Nicola Barkhouse, Senior Nursery Manager of Tigers Day Nursery. I came to Tigers as a placement as part of my NNEB training in 1997 and joined the company in 1999 when I finished my qualification. Since then I have completed my level 4 and level 5 childcare qualifications.

Over the years I have worked with all age groups as a nursery nurse and room senior before becoming a manager. Stepping away from running my own room was a big decision but in my role now I have the best of both worlds as I am able to spend time with the children but also show new parents around the nursery and support the staff to achieve the high standards of care and teaching we offer at Tigers.

One of my roles is the nursery SENDCO and I really enjoy this role as I strongly believe that every child deserves the absolute best start in life and the opportunity to attend Nursery.

In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my five nephews and friends and family.
