We have been sending our child to Tigers Day Nursery for 2 years and we couldn't have asked for a better place to send our child. Our child has loved every minute of being at Tigers Day Nursery and the level of care they have shown has been second to none. The staff are always approachable and willing
to accommodate the needs of our child. If you are on the fence about where to send your child then don't be, send them to Tigers and you won't regret it.

Fantastic setting with a huge range of media and environments to excite and engage both of my children. I wouldn't have them anywhere else. The staff are fabulous too.

Tigers is a fantastic nursery. Both of my children thoroughly enjoy it. The staff are friendly and treat the children with such kindness.
I have been so pleased with so many aspects of the nursery, in particular:
- The activities are well planned and incorporate plenty of learning through play. The
outdoor space is fantastic and helps to facilitate this.
- All special dietary requirements are well understood and catered for.
- the nursery is extremely clean and excellent hygiene is practised.
Our overall experience has been amazing.

My son currently attends Tigers Day Nursery and my older son did before him.
My son loves his nursery days and is so excited to see the new toys on offer each morning when he goes in.
Tigers give you regular updates on what your child has achieved in the day.
The team at Tigers are welcoming, polite,
professional and reassuring. As soon as I met the Manager of Tigers, I knew I wanted my child to attend this nursery. She knew every single child’s name.
The outside space at Tigers is wonderful and they encourage the children outside regularly, in all weathers to make sure they get fresh air and exercise.
Even after a full day of playing outside, I always find that all of my son's belongings are packed away neatly in his bag ready to leave and I get a full rundown of my son's day.
My son's language skills are always vastly improved after a day at nursery too.
I would highly recommend Tigers Day Nursery to anyone looking for daycare in Newbury.

Our son has been at Tigers since he was one. We literally couldn’t ask for a better place for him to be in. It was the only nursery we looked at and after our first visit, we knew that was the place for him. The attention to detail is amazing, not only with the day to day activities for him but also
the extra weekly experiences he takes part in there. He loves the wild garden on a Friday learning about outdoor things like bugs and trees. His overall development has come on so much since joining and he’s made plenty of new friends. Overall a wonderful place where all his needs are met and surpassed.

We moved our daughter to Tigers 18 months ago and have been thoroughly impressed with the care and attention our daughter has received. She settled quickly, made friends and enjoyed going each day to join in with the exciting activities on offer. Would definitely recommend.

I cannot fault Tigers Day Nursery. From the very first enquiry, they have been so friendly, accommodating and understanding. I was so nervous leaving my daughter to go back to work, but they put in a fantastic settling in programme and worked with me to ensure she was happy and settled. The staff are
fantastic, always caring and provide detailed feedback about the child’s day. They do lots of varied activities with the children that support their development and have great outdoor space for the children to explore. I have no hesitation in highly recommending this nursery.

Returning to work after having a baby is never easy. I decided to go back to work 8 months after having my first child and it was an easy decision to make to put him in Tigers. We came and looked around at an open day and were incredibly impressed by the facilities.

Since he joined the nursery

in July 2018, my son has thrived. His development has been nourished and nurtured and his personality has been accommodated to shine.

Staff are fantastically passionate about caring for children and giving them great experiences day to day.

The rooms are well equipped and the bubble room is a great escape. There are great outdoor facilities too as well as little day trips.

My son has made some great little friends and comes home beaming from great days at Tigers.

I cannot recommend Tigers highly enough! It’s exceptional.

Our daughter has been attending this nursery for over a year after a previous setting dropped dramatically in our expectations.
In this year, we've had amazing support for our child and ourselves. The staff are professional and warm and the turnover remains low, which helps with consistency and well
being. The nursery is fun and educational, with great spaces both inside and out.

Fantastic nursery. My first born and second have attended and currently, my son is there full time. Couldn't be happier with the facilities, know they are safe and entertained and well fed and looked after. Great to see horses outside in the next field, and a variety of outdoor spaces to play in
and explore.

My son has been attending Tigers for the last 2.5 years and I could not be happier. He has moved through the rooms and all staff we have come across have been warm and friendly and amazing with all of the children. He has fun educational activities each day, loves being able to play outside as much
as possible and comes home happy every day. I can also relax knowing he is safe and looked after and has great homemade food each day.

Excellent nursery! We moved our eldest thereafter we weren't too happy with a different nursery and couldn't have been happier. Number 2 duly followed and our youngest (no. 3) is still there and we continue to be as happy as we were from day 1 with our eldest. The staff are excellent and the nursery
offers a good range of additional activities which take place during the day, including dance, French and football. The wild garden is a great place for the children to run around and explore the outdoors, but still in a safe environment and the children generally spend a lot of time outdoors. Would definitely recommend for anyone looking for an excellent nursery in the area.

When I leave my son with the team at Tigers I never have to worry. From the settling in sessions at 9 months to present at 18 months old my son loves nursery! It’s been such an important aspect of shaping who he is and I look forward to continuing his journey with them and watching him learn and grow.
They are kind, flexible and the relief of knowing he’s in good hands when I’m at work is great. I can’t recommend them enough! Thank you Tigers!

Tigers is a friendly, caring and engaging nursery. My eldest son also went there and now my youngest; many of the staff are still there after several years. I’m provided with informative information and always greeted with warm and friendly staff who know my child. My son loves going to nursery, especially
because of the outside spaces available and the bubble room! Every time he moves room I am sad to leave the wonderful space but he had always been excited to go on to his next step. I wouldn’t consider sending my children to any other nursery.

My daughter has just started the nursery and the staff are so welcoming and very good with her when she becomes unsettled, plenty of learning activities and clean rooms for her to be looked after in. I'm very happy so far with how she is settling in and staff have made me feel at ease as well as this
is also new to me. Highly recommend this nursery.

I was really nervous about putting my child into nursery at 9 months old, but the staff at Tigers were so reassuring, kind, and friendly, that I knew I would feel comfortable with my child attending Tigers.
The setting is brilliant, there are so many activities for the children to do.
All of the
staff are warm and friendly and they are very understanding to all parents and children's needs.
I can see that my child loves attending Tigers. He has warmed to many of the children that attend and to the staff.

My son has been going to Tigers for 4 months now, and he’s so happy there. I completely trust the staff, they really care about the children. I know I’m leaving him in safe hands which gives me great peace of mind. They are very proactive and always doing lovely activities with the children. They almost
always get fresh air and exercise in the Pirate garden too! I would highly recommend Tigers to anybody!

Tigers is a fantastic setting with wonderful facilities and a great outdoor space for children. The staff are brilliant - supportive, caring and really go above and beyond to make the environment a great and friendly place. Both of our boys have been at Tigers - our youngest is in the Little Cubs
room and our eldest has recently left to start school. They love the nursery and staff - and the food! - and we would thoroughly recommend the nursery.

Current Review Score: 9.0 (8.987)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.0 (8.987) out of 10 for Tigers Day Nursery is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.2 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.806 for Tigers Day Nursery is calculated as follows: ( (87 Excellents x 5) + (21 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 108 Ratings = 4.806

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.181 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Tigers Day Nursery is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 160 number of registered child places is 32. 9 Positive Reviews ÷ 32 = 0.281

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Hello, my name is Cara, I have recently joined Tigers as an operations manager.

I have a background in Education, specialising in Early Years. I have always been drawn to Early Years, primarily as an Early Years teacher, Leader and Manager of Nurseries, Montessori and mainstream schools. I have a wealth of experience that I draw on constantly, from being a Forest School Leader, Inclusion Officer and a Signalong Tutor.

I am extremely passionate about our youngest children. I enjoy learning new skills, constantly researching new ways to teach and support children, and training and supporting other practitioners to ensure we meet each individual child’s needs to become independent learners.

I am super excited to have joined Tigers, and to be part of this wonderful team here.

Hi, I’m Nicola Barkhouse, Senior Nursery Manager of Tigers Day Nursery. I came to Tigers as a placement as part of my NNEB training in 1997 and joined the company in 1999 when I finished my qualification. Since then I have completed my level 4 and level 5 childcare qualifications.

Over the years I have worked with all age groups as a nursery nurse and room senior before becoming a manager. Stepping away from running my own room was a big decision but in my role now I have the best of both worlds as I am able to spend time with the children but also show new parents around the nursery and support the staff to achieve the high standards of care and teaching we offer at Tigers.

One of my roles is the nursery SENDCO and I really enjoy this role as I strongly believe that every child deserves the absolute best start in life and the opportunity to attend Nursery.

In my spare time I enjoy spending time with my five nephews and friends and family.
