Bright Horizons Court Oak Day Nursery and Preschool is open Monday to Friday from 07:30 to 18:00, for children aged 3 months to 5 years.

A warm, welcoming environment supporting the transition from home to the nursery is fully inclusive of nappies, wipes and milk, and they provide excellent nutritionally-balanced menus using fresh ingredients prepared by the nursery's own chef.

The large outdoor area with a herb and vegetable garden allows children to explore the world around, and there are two outdoor areas, one of which is for preschool children, the second being an all year round outdoor learning centre, enabling children to learn outdoors whatever the weather.

There is a lovely mud kitchen that has been extended for children to explore, including seating for children to sit down & play throughout the day. As children move out of toddlerhood and into the independence of the preschool years the programme for learning develops into a more structured pace of meaningful and purposeful learning, where children are encouraged to approach the world with curiosity and with a positive disposition to learn.

At this stage children at Court Oak need confidence and the skills and desire to think for themselves, to solve problems, to work with others, to communicate, and to gain an increased understanding of the world and how it works.

All the staff in each room have been very supportive of my child throughout her development and room transitions. They have been very helpful and supportive in e.g. toilet training helping my daughter overcome phases such as nightmares and given general advice to us as parents to help us help our daughter
develop to the best of her ability into a well rounded happy individual.
They seem to understand each child has individual needs to encourage and support this. Very happy sending my children here.

My son enjoys going to nursery, he sees it as his second home. He has a wonderful relationship with all the staff and children. He is kept interested with a good variety of activities which bring our different attributes. The staff are very caring and the well-being of my son is their highest priority.
For all the years he has been at Court Oak, the staff ensure he eats well as he is a picky child. He is always happy to start his day and at the end of the day, he is still thriving from his day. He has recently attended the ROSPA awards which he's been a highlight for all, parents, children and staff. I have no complaints and very pleased with all the care my son receives.

My two boys go to Court Oak, one is in pre-school and one is in the baby room. I feel that if I have ever had any concerns then they are listened to and acted on. The nursery is always very clean and the children are looked after well. My eldest son has really developed in pre-school and has learnt
his alphabet and to write his name. It would be nice if they had some day trips out, as I know other nurseries do this.

This nursery was recommended to us and it's easy to see why. From day 1, the staff have shown genuine interest and care for my daughter, and I feel like she is well looked after and supported. There is a wide range of activities that vary day by day and my daughter's development has increased dramatically
by being around a mix of children and socialising and playing with them. Children are encouraged to be independent and there's a good focus on learning, but this is done in ways that is fun for the children. I would recommend this nursery to anyone who is looking for a well-run, educational and fun place for their children to spend their early years.

I'm extremely satisfied and happy with the care my son is receiving from Court Oak. My son was extremely shy and wouldn't interact much with other kids prior to attending there. I've seen a massive improvement and he has even developed an interest in reading books and dancing. He is more expressive
now and mumbles more. The nursery is clean and the staff are brilliant. I can also say good words especially to all staff in toddler area/room. My son loves it there and my husband and I are at ease that my son is safe at all times. Kudos!!

Current Review Score: 8.8 (8.774)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.8 (8.774) out of 10 for Bright Horizons Court Oak Day Nursery and Preschool is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.9 out of 5 from 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.883 for Bright Horizons Court Oak Day Nursery and Preschool is calculated as follows: ( (53 Excellents x 5) + (7 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 60 Ratings = 4.883

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.891 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Bright Horizons Court Oak Day Nursery and Preschool is based on 5 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.5

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 64 number of registered child places is 12.8. 5 Positive Reviews ÷ 12.8 = 0.391

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Nursery Manager

Hello, my name is Abigail, but most people know me as Abiy.

In 2003, my journey with Bright Horizons began as a Nursery Nurse. After taking a brief part-time break to have my daughter, I returned to the Nursery. Over time, I advanced to the role of a room leader and ultimately secured a full-time position as Nursery Manager.

Concurrently, I pursued and successfully earned a degree in Early Years Childhood Studies.

My name is Sophie and I have been with Bright Horizons since December 2017. Within 9 months I had thrived and been given my role as a Room Leader within the preschool room and was training for my role as Third in Charge. I have recently been promoted to the position of Deputy Manager of the Nursery at the end of 2018 and Bright Horizons has helped me to develop the skills needed to go with this position. Bright Horizons has provided me with lots of training and filled me with confidence for all of my roles and I feel the appreciation from the company for all of the hard work that I provide. I feel that all staff who are welcomed into the company are given the correct training that they need in order to thrive within their positions within the settings.
