Best Childcare is purpose-built, family operated nursery within a vibrant supportive and welcoming community. Providing as rated by Ofsted Outstanding childcare in an environment that captures a feeling of warmth and togetherness.

Their home from home ethos is evident for children aged three months to five years. Children are at the centre of the setting. Every child is nurtured through love and care on their continuous learning and progression, encouraged through magical moments and supported through curiosity, awe and wonder, whilst recognising every child is on their own unique journey.

Providing an extensive range of high-quality toys and resources both indoors and outdoors, the nursery is divided into two floors and has three separate secure outdoor play spaces including a rooftop secret garden for children aged under two. They offer so much more than toys and resources through their dedicated and qualified team, who offer many specialised opportunities to the children. Forest School practitioners, who cook on open fires, tell stories in the woods and offer real tools and opportunities. Yoga, story massage and phonics are incorporated into their everyday practices by trained staff, their very own resident Artist and three Early Years Teachers.

They are passionate about healthy eating and good nutrition for children. Mealtimes are social family occasions, with time for children to enjoy food, chat with friends and share events of the day. Providing a vegetarian diet which includes, locally sourced ingredients, fresh fruit and vegetables prepared on site.

The nursery is situated in its own grounds and has secure car parking facilities along with CCTV and electronic entry systems; the highest regard is given to the safeguarding of children.

Offering full and part-time sessions as well as funded 15 and 30 hour places for two and three year old's.

Our daughter has attended Best Childcare for the last nine months, and it has been the best decision we have made. She has absolutely thrived in the kind, caring, nurturing and supportive ethos of Best Childcare. As soon as you enter the setting, it is a magical, calming environment where every child
is happy and engaged in any variety of activities - this could be snuggled up enjoying a story, French, yoga, in the construction area or the home corner helping to prepare food for the day. The communication from staff is via an app, and daily it is updated regarding what has happened during the day, as well as clear feedback on collection. All staff are extremely friendly and fully invested in each child, and any concerns are addressed immediately. They regularly enjoy trips into the local community and even enjoyed a full nursery trip to the forest. We would highly recommend Best Childcare Nursery.

My daughter has thrived at Best. She skips in most days, loves the staff, and has made friends with the other children. Best have focussed on her development, asking for our input on what we would like them to support on a monthly basis. She has the opportunity to engage in a brilliant variety of different
activities, including painting, baking, baby yoga, pyjama drama, loads of outdoor play and even obstacle courses. The communication from the nursery is very good, whilst you don’t get informed live of every meal and every nappy change like you may do from some, you get a detailed verbal update at the end of the day, and a summary of their activities including lots of photos on the app on a daily basis as well. They show the kids a lot of love and care and it feels like a home from home. Really love the nursery.

Our Nursery offers a play-based curriculum which we know empowers and supports all children's well-being, as well as their learning and development. Staff are very caring - all staff seem to love their job and all know the names of all the children right from the first week, even if they are staff from the different age group rooms than your child is in. Menu seems great and the fact they offer breakfast is really helpful.

My son loves going to Best Childcare, all the nurturers care about each individual child and go out of their way to bring out the best in them. Even during some difficult behaviour the staff persevered and worked with me to get through it. They go above and beyond and I recommend them to everyone!

Forest Schools is embedded within our Nursery daily rhythms and we share magical experiences as you describe such as fires around a fire bowl; use of tools and exploration of knot tying; as well as sharing a language around nature and the natural world in the children's community. Children are supported to access these opportunities throughout their times with us as we have a "free flow" access to the outside space as well as opportunities in our inside tee-pee's. Our skilled Nurturer's and Lead Atelierista as well as Early Years Teacher's offer moments in our Romani Wagon as well as opportunities shared by our Forest School leaders. Our son loved Best Childcare. We felt the staff went above and beyond to make sure our son was happy and best utilised his interests. Our daughter loves going to Best Childcare nursery and all the staff that work there. We’ve felt from even before she started that the staff had a genuine interest and care in her well-being. I’ve always had absolute confidence that she is well looked after, cared for, relaxed, has fun and is developing

Best was very accommodating when we had to find emergency childcare at the start of the Covid-19 pandemic.
They have shown lots of love and care towards my son, and he really enjoys his time there.
Communication is very very good compared to other settings we have used.

Our daughter loves attending Best nursery. She runs in and out happy each day. The activities are varied and seem lots of fun. I like the focus on creativity and on social skills/learning to be good friends to each other. I have been during nap times and meal times and it seems calm and the food appears
to be healthy (and vegetarian!). There are some lovely caring staff members, who really get to know your little one.

My son has been at Best Childcare Nursery for over a year and a half and loves it. The nursery staff really tune in to the interests of the children and tailor activities to build on these interests. I can tell time and effort is put into the reports we receive and are specific to my son and I love
the pictures we are sent. Some of the reasons we chose this nursery were the good quality vegetarian food and a focus on being environmentally friendly which comes through in activities. My son always comes home tired and happy as they pack so much into the day and has made some lovely friends and really grown in confidence.

Our whole experience with Best Childcare Nursery is so positive. Our child has been in both the 0-2 room and now in the 2+ room and we have had a wonderful experience throughout (our 2nd child will be joining soon too). Our little boy always comes home full of joy and smiles from nursery and they do
so much lovely, creative stuff with the children. The learning is one element that we love but also we love their focus on the children's emotional needs and the strong sense of coming together, caring for others, slowing down. The environment is so nurturing, caring and warm and I really feel they take the time to know your child's individual personality which is great. As a parent, it is reassuring to know that you are leaving your child in safe hands but also to know that if they need a hug they will always get one.
Communication with the nursery is really good and the workers provide such good detail when you do pick up/drop-offs. The breakdown of what the children do each day is lovely on the app.

A specific example of this would be the Forest Schools Approach. This is one which we regard highly - as it really puts the child in the centre of all we do - considering their well being and how to nurture specific inter-personal skills such as resilience and self-confidence. Considering this - we have reflected specifically on our physical spaces, ensuring that children really do have access to both indoors and outdoors throughout their time at Nursery. My child often displays she's had a good time at nursery, the extra day has worked wonders for her and we have seen a difference in her attitude at home!
On the whole, we enjoy the nursery as a family but if possible could aprons be provided? As you can imagine it's difficult to replace stained nursery
clothes in a lockdown. We find we are throwing away clothes more often than not. We don't send our child down in 'Sunday Best' but it does get pricey when she is coming home in clothes stained with black paint.
Where possible could staff communicate parent requests through the team. When we ask for naps not to happen close to home time, it's usually because our child will be brought out at 5 pm (sometimes before) following a 40min+ nap and then comes home and stays up until about 11 pm. We've seen a major developmental change from arriving at nursery early and imposing a 7/7.30 bedtime. We make the effort to come early to keep the routine and she doesn't nap at home at that time.

The nursery is absolutely wonderful. The staff genuinely care about the children and formed a lovely bond with our son. He is totally thriving and is excited to go each week. The activities they do are well thought out and whilst fun and interesting for the children, are always educational and teaching
a wide range of topics. The nursery really nurtures, this isn’t just somewhere to play but somewhere to learn about tolerance, difference, respect. We love how all cultures and festivals are embraced and explored. We could not have chosen a better nursery and have total trust in their care of our son.

A wonderful nursery whose values are fully aligned with our own. We have noticed such a difference in our daughter's vocabulary, imagination and confidence since she started with Best and the staff are genuinely lovely and nurturing. I have been so impressed with Best since our son started a year and a half ago. They have been fantastic with him and go out of their way to give him really personalised care. He has been in both the 0-2 room and 2+ both of which have been wonderful. He is always learning whilst there, and they do so
many fun activities which I can see on the app throughout the day. Whichever staff member gives you handover knows exactly what has been going on with him in the day without having to ask a colleague (this was pre-COVID too so it would be random which staff member I would happen to speak to first when I went on the door). The staff know our names as parents and ask about his younger brother who will be starting next year. It is such a happy and friendly environment and I can’t recommend them highly enough.

I have always felt absolutely confident and secure in the fact that my child has been loved, cared for and valued at Best nursery. It's a lovely environment, with so much care taken over providing engaging and magical activities to promote a love of learning and curiosity.
My child is not someone who
bonds with adults easily, but during his time at Best, he has grown so fond of all the adults at nursery. He has grown in confidence and social skills and they have always shown that they have understood him and know him well.
We all want to thank a member of staff in particular and everyone at Best for everything they have done for him over the past 2+ years - he has had such a wonderful and special experience.

I have two children at Best, my daughter (almost 4) has been going since she was around 6 months, my son is 10 months and just started. I am very happy with the care and support that Best offer the children and families.
There’s a focus on imaginative play, embracing the children’s explorative minds
and learning through nature. They focus on real-world experience too, pre-covid the children would visit a care home and had friendships with older people, they’d go to local shops, the library and park. Things are obviously more restricted at the moment, but the nursery is trying their very best to continue such engagements where possible, with appropriate safeguards.
The people who work at Best are its heart and soul. They enjoy the children and really relish seeing them develop and grow. Many times I’ve been greeted by an excited key worker - thrilled to tell me my child has achieved a milestone, been kind, funny or made a new friend. I recommend the nursery wholeheartedly.

Best are great, they have adapted really well to the extreme measures with Covid-19 and I feel that my daughter is as safe as possible and well looked after when I drop her off. Best adapt well to new changes, such as bringing in new lighting for the car park for drop off and pick up, making sure they
update the app much more regularly so we can see how the children are getting on and what they are doing, providing us with food menus and generally keeping us informed at pick up and drop off. The staff turnover does worry me a little, although all the new staff members are great and seem to have a good induction plan that doesn't unsettle the children too much. My daughter doesn't seem phased at all about having new key workers, but she is older and this may have been unsettling when she was younger.
In general, I would highly recommend Best to other parents, it's a great nursery!

In regards to staffing, we have had many staff with us for a number of years some from the day nursery opened, the most recent member of staff that left had been working for the company for five years. There are some staff that of course come and go, sometimes this is because of managements high expectations to deliver only outstanding quality care, others for promotion as we are only a small company these are positions that do not become available. We work exceptionally hard to ensure smooth transitions when staff leave to ensure consistency at all times for the children. Amy Bell

As the Manager, I provide support in the overall leadership and management of the setting and lead on all aspects of nursery provision, including the delivery of the EYFS.


I believe that every child has the right to play, and this is something which has been at the heart of my practice since qualifying for a BA honours in Playwork along with my Early Years Teaching


I have worked with Best Childcare in numerous settings, managing and leading the teams in outstanding practice to ensure thrilling, challenging and nurturing experiences are offered to all children from as young as babies to early teens.


As a qualified Forest School Practitioner, I love to build fires with the children in the nursery and the local woods, cook different foods, share stories and enjoy warm drinks together.


I believe that love and family matter, which is at the core of our nursery ethos and that every child and family feel this as they walk through our front gate.


All children are inspiring and it's my role to support them in their continuous learning and progression while recognizing the unique needs of every child.

With over twenty-seven years of experience and knowledge in the childcare field. Best Childcare Forest School Nursery is my passion and I knew that with my wealth of qualifications and experiences in the childcare field, I would create a unique Nursery, yet responsive and tailored to meet the needs of the families within the Leeds area.


Before this, I was an Ofsted inspector for five years, I have also worked in the private, voluntary and statutory sectors as both Nursery Nurse, Deputy Manager, Manager and Registration and Inspection Officer.


I strive to deliver outstanding childcare to all our families and enjoy implementing my wealth of experience into our daily nursery life, ensuring children achieve the best possible outcomes on their individual learning journey.

Tom Hayes

Job Title: The Contingecy Manager

Within my role as contingency manager, I support the day-to-day running of the nursery and oversee our play curriculum to ensure that the standard of provision being offered at all times is of an ‘outstanding’ level.


I have worked within the Early Years sector for 4 years now in a variety of different roles in a few settings within the city including Early Years practitioner, room leader, junior assistant manager and now my current role of contingency manager at Best. Before this, I trained to be a Primary School Teacher and received my BA in Primary Education from the University of Hull in 2019. I am a TEFL-qualified teacher and have spent time in Southeast Asia teaching in a school out there.


I believe highly in the importance of children’s mental health and have completed numerous qualifications in this field to build and develop my knowledge. I am a strong advocate of outdoor play and am immersed in the benefits of this aspect of Early Childhood Development. I enjoy providing children with a safe and nurturing environment where they are free to flourish, and I firmly believe that the outdoor classroom provides the best opportunities for this.

I believe that instilling a sense of awe and wonder whilst providing professional love to the children in my care is what makes their early years memorable. I know the importance of cultivating a safe space which supports all children in feeling a sense of belonging as children thrive on daily adventures; laying the foundations for future success.

I treasure my role as Assistant Manager and feel privileged to share my passion for "creativity" in our ethos for all children and families.


I have been with Best for over 12 years now and have recently achieved my BA Honours in Childhood studies. Sharing my eagerness for continued professional development is something which is embedded within my Pedagogy and approach to supporting our Nursery Community.


Inclusion is at the forefront of my practice, and I actively ensure that children and families are able to participate in all aspects of our provision. At Nursery we recognise the importance of different expressions of communication: including verbal and non-verbal. At Best Childcare Nursery we are proud to share our skills in Makaton and Intensive Interactions; ensuring that all children's voices are heard.


As a Mum of two, I know how important open and honest communications are; and this is something at Best Childcare Nursery we are exceptionally skilled at. From noting your children's play interests, friendships and also rest needs, we will always ensure that these important details are relayed to Parents and Families.
