Puddleducks Children's Nursery is rated Outstanding by Ofsted March 2019 and is a multi award winning nursery having been placed in the top 10 nurseries in Yorkshire in 2014, 2016, 2017, 2018 and 2019, 2020, 2021 and 2022.

The nursery is owned by an ambitious, experienced primary school teacher. She opened the nursery in 2012, when she had been searching for a nursery for her own little boy. Using her vision and values as a qualified teacher and parent, she created a nursery where every individual baby and child receives unrivalled care. An exceptional curriculum is in place, which ensures children receive a challenging learning experience that prepares them exceptionally well for school.

What is immediately evident is the owner's exceptionally high expectations and drive for the highest standards. The fantastic environment is best appreciated in person.

Puddleducks is conveniently located and easily accessible from many surrounding villages, and on the main commuter route to York for many rural residents.

I cannot recommend Puddleducks enough as the best nursery in York. My child is in almost full-time and has been since she was 9 months old. When I drop her off every day it's like leaving her with family. She has grown into the most confident, well-rounded, curious and happy little girl in their care.
The activities are so broad and she loves taking advantage of the curiosity approach which we continue at home. They are actively involved in village life going for walks in the countryside, playing in the park or using the mobile library. I love Puddleducks and I wouldn't consider her going anywhere else.

Our daughter started at Puddleducks just after she turned 1 and she has come on so much over the last 6 months. The staff at Puddleducks were brilliant when our daughter was settling in and completely understood how you felt as a parent having a child starting nursery for the first time. We love hearing
about all the activities our daughter gets to do each day and about the skills she is learning. The food is always an absolute hit with our daughter too! They also had no issues catering for her dairy-free diet which was a huge relief. If you are looking for a nursery for your child then we would definitely recommend Puddleducks!

Puddleducks have been incredible! The staff are so friendly and welcoming. Our little boy has come on so much in such a short space of time. Initially, he was reluctant to be left but the staff were incredibly patient and caring and now he gets so excited when we go into nursery and barely notices when
I leave. Communication is excellent, the food the children are fed is incredible. (The menus are sent in advance and often inspire our own meals at home!). Puddleducks have really impressed myself and my husband. I cannot speak highly enough of this nursery and have recommended it to my sister for her little girl.

Puddleducks is a home away from home for my son. The staff are wonderful, approachable, and treat each child as an individual. My son has allergies and sensitivities and the nursery constantly works with us to make sure all his needs are looked after. Highly recommend Puddleducks to any one of my colleagues
moving to York.

We moved our eldest child from another nursery nearby to Puddleducks last September and couldn't be happier. The staff are all so welcoming, have great activities set up for the children and we receive good updates at the end of the day. Our daughter has come on so much since moving her.
Our youngest
has just joined a few months ago in the baby room and she has settled so well, and she loves going in.
A fabulous nursery and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to others!

We have had the privilege of sending both our sons to Puddleducks. As soon as we were expecting our second, we had him signed up.
Puddleducks is a nurturing, stimulating, and safe environment where the children and their development are the focus. My son has a wonderful relationship with his key worker
and his face lights up when we say we are going to see her. She is compassionate and caring with him. It is a pleasure to know that he is with such a fantastic person when he is at nursery.
The activities are all designed to help him grow. The communication is excellent especially with focus child weeks where you inform the nursery of his interests and they design activities for him. You then receive feedback about this and how best to support your child’s development.
The management team are always available and provide strong leadership which you can feel helps create such a lovely atmosphere.

Puddleducks Children's Nursery is outstanding. My daughter has been there for almost a year now. Ever since day one everyone at the nursery has made us feel comfortable which is extremely important at what can be a daunting time. My daughter loves going there. I love the ethos of the nursery, when looking
around it really stood out. Every staff member has been so accommodating and are always happy to help. I love that they have a great range of healthy foods as well. We have regular meetings with our keyworker who will give us updates and allows us to ask any questions we may have. They update us every week with a newsletter so we are always informed on what is going on. I look forward to my daughter trying out all the different rooms. I wouldn't send her anywhere else!

Puddleducks has been a huge part of our lives since 2019 when our eldest first attended as a baby. Our youngest is now in Preschool Room and it is safe to say that throughout our years of our boys attending Puddleducks, the nursery has consistently been outstanding in absolutely every way.
The staff
are exceptional - they go above and beyond every day and we truly feel that the love and care they give to the children is second to none. They care about what the children are interested in and work hard to develop their interests and build on them. They offer so many imaginative ways for the children to safely learn and explore on a daily basis with a huge emphasis on fun and an underpinning ethos of kindness.
The setting itself is phenomenal - always beautifully decorated, clean, cosy and personalised for the children. A true home from home. The outside areas are just magical and we're so glad that there is a lot of play outside throughout the year.
It's a phenomenal nursery!

Our son has been at Puddleducks Children's Nursery for the last year in the pre school room. During his time at Puddleducks, he has really blossomed. Our son has a physical disability and choosing a nursery was a difficult decision for us, as a family. The owner and her team have been amazing though
and the support our family have received has been incredible. Not only are all the staff friendly, passionate and fun, they are like one big family and know all the children by name. It really is a home-from-home nursery and the owner has worked so hard to make sure all children feel welcome and secure in the nursery environment, something that is so important to families. Our son's key worker has been amazing at helping our son to reach his potential and has become like a member of our family, really caring for all aspects of our son's day-to-day care but also supporting us, as parents. We will really miss Puddleducks when our son starts school in September and would highly recommend Puddleducks. They are fantastic.

Our daughter has attended Puddleducks, Sherriff Hutton since March 2021 at 18 months. She absolutely loves it.
She settled in very quickly and she was always happy to go to her key person or another member of the team.
The manager's kind, caring, no nonsense approach runs through the nursery and
all the team are incredibly professional and caring. I always think this comes from the top.
We love the whole feel of the place. A happy place where the children play inside and outside come rain or shine depending on what they’re doing and what they chose to do. It’s a creative space, where they grow so to can their creativity and imagination.
We have regular contact and obviously daily updates but I really enjoy the opportunity to delve deeper into the Zoom parents meetings (so convenient to do it online) and also the focus child quarterly updates.
We couldn’t be happier with our choice. And when we’re not we air our views and feel we are listened to and action is taken. Ideal.

Puddleducks Children's Nursery is an exceptional nursery - they have taken excellent care of both of my little ones over the last 6+ years. All of the staff are really lovely and care so much about early years, not just in terms of looking after the babies, toddlers and preschoolers at the nursery,
but also working to develop the children's skills and sense of selves. They work really hard to make each child feel special and make sure that everyone has a wonderful time whilst at Puddleducks - they have wonderful facilities and plan all sorts of fun activities as well as providing delicious food. They also provide the kids with opportunities outside of the nursery including going on walks, visiting playgrounds and engaging with the local community (the preschoolers, for example, have been visiting a local care home and have also been to the library). It really is such a special place and I am really going to miss it now that my youngest is off to school!

Puddleducks Children's Nursery has consistently provided a caring and stimulating environment for my children since 2020. The management has excellent communication channels with parents, giving clear updates well in advance and you can tell every detail is thought about. The menu is excellent, and
my son’s dietary requirements were carefully met without question. I have never doubted our decision to send our children here and would recommend this nursery to anyone.

Throughout the two years of care our child has received at Puddleducks, we are still amazed and in awe of the imaginative and creative experiences the teams have created for our child everyday; this is overwhelmingly evident in our daughters development. Their curiosity approach to learning makes simple
activities fun and rewarding and I love the emphasis on outdoor play as well as regular walks, adventures and play in the local community. Their ethos and approach to care goes above and beyond what I could have imagined as well as supporting her through the various transitions of toddler life.
I honestly could not recommend Puddleducks highly enough. To see your child so utterly content and thrive in a setting such as this has been an utter joy for us to watch. The love and care that staff have for the children has no bounds and we’re so grateful for all they have done for our child.

Our daughter absolutely loves Puddleducks Children's Nursery. The staff that work there are so welcoming and friendly. My daughter runs to her key worker, all smiles and ready for a fun packed day. I highly recommend and would have no doubt to send our new addition when she arrives in the future. The

Puddleducks Children's Nursery is an amazing nursery. As a first time mum and in such uncertain times, it was really difficult to go back to work and leave my boys but this nursery has been a constant, secure, happy and safe place that my boys absolutely love, which gives me peace of mind and comfort.
The facilities, space, regular updates, focus on children’s development, sustainability and curiosity approach is an added bonus to the main thing I love about this nursery, the people. They are amazing, you can see how much they love and care for the children, which is all you could ever want. I tell everyone how good this nursery is, even those without children!

My two little girls are both in pre-school and are aged 3 and 4. They have been attending Puddleducks since they were 14 months old and to say we all love this nursery would be an understatement. The girls have thrived during their time here. The approach to learning is excellent with each child encouraged
to explore their strengths through play. The facilities are brilliant and always changing, with themes running throughout daytime activities. Painting, sticking, glueing, glitter, baking, role play, reading, the list of things my girls do is endless. My girls go bouncing in and come bouncing out excited to show me their latest creation. The staff take the time to learn everything they need to know about the girls and see the differences in them; just like I do. I have built up an excellent relationship with all the members of staff and they are always friendly and helpful. I would not hesitate in recommending this nursery.

We chose Puddleducks for my second son as my eldest attended previously. Knowing the care and attention the staff give to the children, we had no doubt that was where we were going to send our second child. With the pandemic, things were a bit different but that did not stop the staff making the children
and parents feel at ease and very welcome! My youngest son was recently diagnosed as needing a milk-free diet. The staff were very helpful in accommodating this and making us feel confident in his care with them. I couldn't recommend this nursery enough to people. The staff are kind, caring and go the extra mile for you and the setting inside is exceptional. Highly recommended.

Sarah is an experienced Primary School teacher, with over 8 years experience across the primary age range. She has two little ones of her own, now aged 4 and a new baby. Having her own babies sparked her interest in and commitment to opening her own children's nursery. This became a reality on 25th June 2012 when, after many months of planning, Sarah opened Puddleducks Nursery.
