The Green Cave Day Nursery & Montessori Pre-School is registered with Ofsted and offers exceptional care and education for children from three months to five years old, available Monday to Friday. Conveniently located near Tunbridge Wells Train Station, it is an ideal choice for parents commuting to London and neighbouring areas.

The nursery's guiding ethos of Love, Care, and Nurture focuses on each child's individuality and unique familial backgrounds. The Green Cave Nursery employs a diverse educational approach, embracing methods such as Montessori, Yoga, Football, and Forest School activities, all conducted by qualified teachers. Children have the opportunity to embark on daily explorations of the Forest and enjoy the diverse wildlife inhabiting the picturesque Kent countryside. The Baby Room has wooden cots to promote restful and peaceful sleep for their youngest of learners and the Two Year Old Room includes a specialised sensory area designed for assisting with emotional regulation and promoting relaxation.

The newly purpose build Montessori Pre-school opposite Tunbridge Wells Train Station is the only full day Montessori Pre-School in Tunbridge Wells. The Green Cave have employed highly experienced Montessori Teachers and Early Years Educators to teach the three to four year old children, preparing them for primary school and enabling them to be amazing individuals. The Green Cave Montessori ethos is about ‘Freedom of Choice’ within a unique prepared environment, independent learning with in an aesthetically beautiful Pre-School.

My son has come along very far in his development since being at this nursery. There are always plenty of things for the children to do and they are taken out twice a day. Trips outside include visits to the park, the local soft play, visiting the local shops and trips to the local forest where they
have Forest school which my son loves and gives the children the opportunity to learn and explore nature. I am always kept up to date on what he has been up to in the day and the staff are very caring and friendly. Overall I am very pleased with my son going to this nursery.

Our son has been at The Green Cave Day Nursery for a year from the age of 3 to 4. Green Cave have done a fantastic job of developing his social skills with other children and adults, which had been lacking due to his previous years being affected by Covid isolation. My son looks forward to nursery every
day and comes home excited to tell us about the variety of activities he has done. His favourites are the forest school and weekly yoga sessions. We are hugely grateful for the support Green Cave have given our family and feel our son is now well prepared for his move into primary school.

My two girls go to The Green Cave Day Nursery and I couldn't recommend this nursery enough. My daughters always have a massive smile on their faces when I drop them off and at pick up. The staff are so unbelievably caring and you can really tell they have such strong relationships with the children.
They get to do yoga, they have a Montessori teacher and a forest school teacher who takes them out to the woods every day for forest school. My little ones are definitely in good hands. My eldest has now left The Green Cave to go to big school and what she learnt at Green Cave and the strong relationships she built meant she wasn't phased and started school with lots of confidence.

My daughters have both been to Green Cave, and I couldn't recommend them enough. My girls have really thrived since going there, and you can tell they learn so much when they talk about their day. The staff are very caring and friendly, and I feel confident the girls are in good hands. There are so
many great additions; my eldest loves going to the woods daily for forest school. As a family, we are big into Montessori and encouraging independence which Green Cave promote, also having a Montessori teacher. There's Yoga and plenty of messy play, and so much more. Big thumbs up from me.

My daughter was extremely shy and timid but being here has brought her out of her shell, she is now more confident with her speaking and is playing with more children. She has had continued support from all staff and as parents we have also had support. This is an amazing nursery which focuses on child

My wife and I use The Green Cave as our emergency option for childcare with our youngest daughter. Their service has proven to be a lifesaver for us. Our daughter is always very happy after her visit. Park trips, forest school and soft play visits fill their days. We were so impressed with all of the
activities the kids completed in December. So many fun arts and crafts came home and were proudly displayed. We are grateful for The Green Cave Day Nursery and the service they provide.

Green Cave really cares about the children - this is evident every time I pick up my granddaughter. The time spent explaining each child's day at handover time is evident and greatly appreciated.
Like any successful business, the key component is the staff - and it is clear that they offer so much
love, stimulation and support to the children.
The location of The Green Cave means easy access to nearby parks, woodlands and other attractions (like the fire station!) that help make the children's day. And the facilities at the nursery itself are top class.

Having moved to Tunbridge Wells, we sent our son to The Green Cave Day Nursery and he never looked back having run through the doors. The experiences on offer from The Green Cave Day Nursery are invaluable to my 2-year-old son. He loves going out to the park and the forest daily and gets to experience nature at its best, learning all the time with the support of the staff, including the Montessori teacher. He really enjoys the messy
play and being creative and, for him, the messier it is the better! I found the staff at The Green Cave to be receptive and knowledgeable and I feel that my son is safe and well looked after whilst he is there. I highly recommend Green Cave to anyone!

The nursery has been absolutely fantastic for our two children, they do so many activities during the day; they get the opportunity to get messy and creative, they also get taken out to the park or the woods at least once a day and even go to soft play up the road, which they love!
They have made
some lovely friends and the staff have been warm and welcoming to us and the children. The children love going so much, they ask to go on days they aren't there!
Overall, we would thoroughly recommend the nursery!

Tracy Watkins

Job Title: Nursery Manager

Tracy has worked in childcare for over 30 years, she is a trained Montessori Teacher as well as having diplomas in Special Educational Needs, Art and Design and Reflexology. She has worked with children with additional needs and a variety of nurseries and schools of varying ages. With all her years of working in different nurseries, she knows exactly what differences an outstanding, loving nursery can make to a family’s life.


Tracy has an open-minded attitude to life; she has 4 children of her own and feels all families need an extra bit of love and support to help them with their young children. Tracy’s passion lies in her early years, exploring nature and having a love for art. She first started out at The Green Cave Day Nursery as a Montessori specialist Teacher and would come into the nursery weekly to provide Montessori sessions, during this time Tracy fell in love with the setting as she loved the calm, relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Tracy has a passion for the outdoors, she has her own farm where in the past she looked after chickens and sheep. She encourages the children to go out to the forest every day to explore our amazing Kent countryside!


When Tracy is not at the desk you can often find her in one of the rooms extending the children’s learning through her love of the environment and singing about anything and everything!

Upon completion of her course, she knew she wanted to work in a nursery that had a family atmosphere and joined the team in 2018. Gem's passion lies with babies encouraging our youngest children to walk, talk and giggle!


She is a fantastic photographer and manages our social media pages. Gem has a passion for natural wooden toys and researches their ethical process making sure they are in line with her beliefs.


Gem is also our Lead Special Educational Needs Co-Ordinator. As part of this role, she monitors each child’s learning and development. Should you, she or the team have concerns about your child’s development then she will work with you to put support plans in place in order for each individual child to reach their full potential.

Job Title: Deputy Montessori Pre-School Manager

Jane joined our Green Cave family in September 2024. Jane has worked in the Early Years for 24 years. She has an International Diploma in Montessori Pedagogy (Level 4) and Early Years Professional Status (Level 6). She has a wealth of experience having been a Manager of both a Day Nursery and a preschool in the past.


Jane is passionate about the Montessori methodology and practice, and how it broadens and enhances children’s learning and understanding, and she is delighted and excited to be bringing her knowledge and expertise to this new venture.
 
In her spare time, Jane is a keen cyclist, having cycled from London to Paris twice and most recently completed a bike ride along the Danube, from Vienna to Budapest!
She also enjoys gardening, reading and walking.
She has two grown-up children of her own.
