The Green Cave Day Nursery & Montessori Pre-School is registered with Ofsted and offers exceptional care and education for children from three months to five years old, available Monday to Friday. Conveniently located near Tunbridge Wells Train Station, it is an ideal choice for parents commuting to London and neighbouring areas.

The nursery's guiding ethos of Love, Care, and Nurture focuses on each child's individuality and unique familial backgrounds. The Green Cave Nursery employs a diverse educational approach, embracing methods such as Montessori, Yoga, Football, and Forest School activities, all conducted by qualified teachers. Children have the opportunity to embark on daily explorations of the Forest and enjoy the diverse wildlife inhabiting the picturesque Kent countryside. The Baby Room has wooden cots to promote restful and peaceful sleep for their youngest of learners and the Two Year Old Room includes a specialised sensory area designed for assisting with emotional regulation and promoting relaxation.

The newly purpose build Montessori Pre-school opposite Tunbridge Wells Train Station is the only full day Montessori Pre-School in Tunbridge Wells. The Green Cave have employed highly experienced Montessori Teachers and Early Years Educators to teach the three to four year old children, preparing them for primary school and enabling them to be amazing individuals. The Green Cave Montessori ethos is about ‘Freedom of Choice’ within a unique prepared environment, independent learning with in an aesthetically beautiful Pre-School.

This is our daughter's last year at preschool and we couldn't be more amazed at how fantastic The Green Cave Day Nursery has been. The staff are great, they are exceptionally attentive, keep us well informed and most importantly are like an extended family now! Our daughter is excited to go and loves
telling us about what she's done. She has been supported brilliantly and is well on her way towards progressing into big school later this year. I hope some of her friends she has made will continue alongside her over the next few years! She is always welcomed with big smiles and enjoys all of the activities, especially the Forest School. We will all miss the staff, the app and photographs we receive is testament to why The Green Cave is so brilliant! Thank you again for everything so far.

Very nice carers, they are very kind and my son really likes going to nursery. Every time he comes out of the nursery, I can see he is happy playing, every day they have fun attractions and journeys. I can see pictures of him on his little adventures. I'm very happy with it, to me, it is the best choice
for a nursery.

Our one-year-old son absolutely loves it here. The staff are very caring and warm. It is so lovely to see him bond with them. They do a lot of activities for the kids and take them out a lot to explore and learn. His key person has been fantastic with him and our son has really bonded with her. The
nursery manager is lovely and has been helpful. The staff always take time to answer questions and offer advice when asked. They are very good at responding to emails. It's a relief to know your child is safe and is happy. Highly recommend this nursery.

My son has been with the nursery for the past 9 months and he loves the staff and their daily activities. I really appreciate the feedback from staff at the end of the day, and their high levels of support and enthusiasm at drop-off. We also used the nursery for our oldest son (now 4) and had a similarly

My son has been going to Green Cave nursery for a year and we absolutely loved it. Now he is off to school in September. They are very flexible and have great hours. I could see the growth and learning every day! And best of all, the children seem very happy there. It's very nice to know that he is
in a caring environment while he isn't home. Every day, he was telling me about something he made or built and he told me he had a best friend. All the teachers are very nice. The teachers and manager really care for the kids.

My little one joined the nursery when he was about 7 months old and I was so concerned about the settling period. But from the first visit at the nursery, we saw happy babies and toddlers, a caring team and a relaxed and welcoming environment. I can't stress enough how key it was to have a place we
trust to leave our little one every day. He always gives them a big smile and gets super excited to enter the nursery. The staff are very accommodating of our needs and we always receive photos, calls if anything different happens and lots of details about their day at pickup time. They go on lots of walks and have many different activities and the nursery menu is also varied. I noticed how much my son developed his skills since he started. Definitely recommend.

A great nursery that two of my children have enjoyed in their time before going to school. The staff are really engaged with the children and they enjoy all sorts of activities each day. Great team, look after my boys really well. Generally very accommodating. Make a lot of effort to get the kids outside to make up for the lack of their own outdoor space. The food seems good and the kids like it. Great location.

The most wonderful place for our little ones (but also us too!). We have two boys at Green Cave now and our latest addition is already registered to join. The staff are incredibly kind, nurturing and offer advice and support to us, as parents, navigating the various baby and toddler phases. The boys
get plenty of time outside in the forest, parks, doing yoga or exploring the area. They bring crafts home and have had external people go into the nursery to widen their experiences, such as ceramic painting and football. Their speech development and ability to communicate their emotions to us has been a game changer and we put it down to their experience at the Green Cave. Fantastically managed with some extra special staff.

A brilliant Nursery in the Centre of town. Convenient location and very friendly staff. They will always pick up the phone to you when you call and are always sending constant updates on the app they use so you can see photos and videos of your child and how their day is going. A very competent nursery

We have been delighted with The Green Cave Day Nursery, who have looked after both of our boys over the past 4/5 years! The staff were always welcoming at drop-off time, and the boys couldn't wait to get in and see their friends and start their day. The opening hours are very convenient as too was the
location, but for us, the main reason we chose and stayed with The Green Cave Day Nursery was the quality of care, which was consistently excellent. The boys always enjoyed their daily outside adventures to the local woods or parks, and then coming home and telling us what they have been up to and showing off their latest yoga moves or artwork! The staff were good at using the parent portal and sharing updates and pictures of what the boys have been up to and giving you a debrief at pick-up time. Thank you to the team for taking such good care of our boys, we wouldn't hesitate to recommend Green Cave!

We love the nursery. You can feel that the staff genuinely love the children. They take all the children out to the local community park, the high street or the woods near the train station almost every day. They also have a lot of fun indoor activities (e.g. messy play, painting). My 19-month-old absolutely
loves it. The management team are also very responsive, patient and approachable. I would highly recommend it.

I can't recommend Green Cave enough! Our son was initially in a different nursery (where things just didn't seem right) so moving him was a massive thing for us. They have been wonderful right from the start - kept us posted at all times, took loads of pictures for us and really went above and beyond
to make sure he settled as quickly as possible. You can tell that everyone who works there is there for the children and it isn't just 'a job' for them. They do so much with the kids and really fill their days with so many activities and walks. Initially, I was a bit worried they don't have a garden, but now I see it is way more exciting for them to visit different parks rather than sit in the same garden all the time. My son never smiled when dropped off and picked up at the previous nursery and he loves the Green Cave. He gets so excited whenever we buzz the button to come in and smiles whenever he sees two members of staff, in particular. I will surely be recommending Green Cave to everyone I can.

I can't recommend The Green Cave Day Nursery enough as a nursery, my daughter joined in May, and really is living her best life there. She's only 2 1/2 and thoroughly enjoys her time there, made friends very quickly, the staff are all very attentive and welcoming, she looks forward to going each week.
Her confidence has grown massively, and now a social flower, instead of the shy lockdown baby. Thank you all so much for all you do. It's always daunting leaving your baby in the care of others at first, but I know she is happy, well taken care of and having a great time. Which of course makes me feel content and relaxed.

The Green Cave Day Nursery provided us with some temporary backup care during a 2 week period when we were stuck. It was, first of all, really kind of them to go out of their way to do this for us and our boys, 1 and 3 years old, absolutely loved it. Our older boy would come home talking about what
he’d been up to, and was clearly engaged through the day. Our younger son adored it, and we loved the pictures and updates through the day from their trips to the park. Every member of staff was caring and professional. Overall, a very impressive and nurturing environment: well organised and fun.

Lovely nursery with great teachers. Perfectly located near the park and the woods, our child really enjoys all the outdoor adventures. We've never had an issue getting extra hours when needed and our child can't wait to go to nursery each day.

This is a very good nursery, the staff were very helpful and cared for the kids. I love to let my boy stay here. As my child grows up they will let them do some artwork and have a walk to the park every day. I really feel that my son enjoys it so much in the nursery.

Tracy Watkins

Job Title: Nursery Manager

Tracy has worked in childcare for over 30 years, she is a trained Montessori Teacher as well as having diplomas in Special Educational Needs, Art and Design and Reflexology. She has worked with children with additional needs and a variety of nurseries and schools of varying ages. With all her years of working in different nurseries, she knows exactly what differences an outstanding, loving nursery can make to a family’s life.


Tracy has an open-minded attitude to life; she has 4 children of her own and feels all families need an extra bit of love and support to help them with their young children. Tracy’s passion lies in her early years, exploring nature and having a love for art. She first started out at The Green Cave Day Nursery as a Montessori specialist Teacher and would come into the nursery weekly to provide Montessori sessions, during this time Tracy fell in love with the setting as she loved the calm, relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Tracy has a passion for the outdoors, she has her own farm where in the past she looked after chickens and sheep. She encourages the children to go out to the forest every day to explore our amazing Kent countryside!


When Tracy is not at the desk you can often find her in one of the rooms extending the children’s learning through her love of the environment and singing about anything and everything!


Gem

Gem Stewart

Job Title: Deputy Manager & Lead SENCO

Joined: 2016

Gem has worked with children since 2015; she has a Level 3 Diploma in Early Years (Early Years Educator) and is a qualified Level 2 Swimming Teacher. Gem first came to The Green Cave Day Nursery in 2016 as part of her Early Years course. Upon completion of her course, she knew she wanted to work in a nursery that had a family atmosphere and joined the team in 2018. Gem's passion lies with babies encouraging our youngest children to walk, talk and giggle!


She is a fantastic photographer and manages our social media pages. Gem has a passion for natural wooden toys and researches their ethical process making sure they are in line with her beliefs.


Gem is also our Lead Special Educational Needs Co-Ordinator. As part of this role, she monitors each child’s learning and development. Should you, she or the team have concerns about your child’s development then she will work with you to put support plans in place in order for each individual child to reach their full potential.


Jane

Jane Martin

Job Title: Deputy Montessori Pre-School Manager

Joined: 2024

Jane joined our Green Cave family in September 2024. Jane has worked in the Early Years for 24 years. She has an International Diploma in Montessori Pedagogy (Level 4) and Early Years Professional Status (Level 6). She has a wealth of experience having been a Manager of both a Day Nursery and a preschool in the past.


Jane is passionate about the Montessori methodology and practice, and how it broadens and enhances children’s learning and understanding, and she is delighted and excited to be bringing her knowledge and expertise to this new venture.
 
In her spare time, Jane is a keen cyclist, having cycled from London to Paris twice and most recently completed a bike ride along the Danube, from Vienna to Budapest!
She also enjoys gardening, reading and walking.
She has two grown-up children of her own.
