The Green Cave Day Nursery & Montessori Pre-School is registered with Ofsted and offers exceptional care and education for children from three months to five years old, available Monday to Friday. Conveniently located near Tunbridge Wells Train Station, it is an ideal choice for parents commuting to London and neighbouring areas.

The nursery's guiding ethos of Love, Care, and Nurture focuses on each child's individuality and unique familial backgrounds. The Green Cave Nursery employs a diverse educational approach, embracing methods such as Montessori, Yoga, Football, and Forest School activities, all conducted by qualified teachers. Children have the opportunity to embark on daily explorations of the Forest and enjoy the diverse wildlife inhabiting the picturesque Kent countryside. The Baby Room has wooden cots to promote restful and peaceful sleep for their youngest of learners and the Two Year Old Room includes a specialised sensory area designed for assisting with emotional regulation and promoting relaxation.

The newly purpose build Montessori Pre-school opposite Tunbridge Wells Train Station is the only full day Montessori Pre-School in Tunbridge Wells. The Green Cave have employed highly experienced Montessori Teachers and Early Years Educators to teach the three to four year old children, preparing them for primary school and enabling them to be amazing individuals. The Green Cave Montessori ethos is about ‘Freedom of Choice’ within a unique prepared environment, independent learning with in an aesthetically beautiful Pre-School.

My family has been extremely happy with the Green Cave Nursery and has regular engagement and fluid contact with all the staff. All three of my children have attended over the last eight years. They thoroughly enjoyed themselves and developed in ways, over and above, what we could have hoped for. They've
learnt important skills to best equip and prepare them for their journey ahead. The nursery is very well run, providing healthy meals, plenty of learning and development, and well located for working parents. Daily forest walks and playing in the park more than compensates for the lack of outdoor space. This month my youngest had her graduation ceremony at a party in the park. The kids enjoyed party food with their friends and some family members, a great afternoon! My daughter really enjoys nursery and has made some great friendships. I strongly recommend the Green Cave Nursery!

My daughter has been attending the nursery since May 2021, and it’s definitely not been the easiest time to send your child to nursery with Covid restrictions. The Manager, Deputy Manager and the entire team did everything to put us at ease. On my daughter's first full day they sent lots of updates
to put me at ease. My daughter has settled in great at the nursery, she loves going on outdoor walks with them and has learnt what noise does a doggy make ‘woof woof’ on their walks spotting all the dogs. Whilst they don’t have a garden, they utilise all of the open spaces around them which in my opinion is better! I couldn’t recommend this nursery more, from the personal communication via their app and the lovely staff it’s the perfect fit for my family.

Our 2-year-old twin boys have been attending Green Cave nursery since January this year and they absolutely love it. Having settled in immediately, they now can’t wait for the mornings that they’re ‘going nursery’ and picking them up has become an utter joy, just to see the smile on their faces. Plus,
they sleep like a dream too, as they’re tired out from all the play. The team at Green Cave really do care for the kids, keeping us updated through a secure online system with personal login and although we were originally worried about the lack of outdoor space, this limitation means our boys get taken for walks to local parks regularly (all securely tethered with lots of staff per child), which has seen them develop a lot quicker than just wandering around the same old garden. It’s in a great location too in the centre of town.

My twin boys love going to nursery! The staff are caring, informative and kind. My boys especially enjoy the wonderful forest school sessions and walks to the park. This has improved walking stamina and discipline outside, significantly since starting.

My eldest daughter attended Green Cave from 14-months until she left to attend school, and she absolutely loved her time there. My younger daughter (aged 3) started just after her first birthday and currently loves going each week. Both girls struggled to settle initially, but the staff were amazing
with them - they are so kind and nurturing and have been incredibly flexible when our working patterns have changed. The activities they organise are so varied and fun, and I love that the children are taken on daily walks to various places. I would definitely recommend Green Cave to anyone!

Absolutely fantastic with my autistic non-verbal son and amazing with my daughter too. Never had a issue. I would ten out of ten recommend the nursery to everyone I know. The staff are really lovely, friendly and welcoming.

Our 15-month-old daughter has been attending Green Cave Nursery since her first birthday. She seems to really enjoy her time there, and we know she is in good hands. The staff are all lovely and approachable and are very understanding of children’s individual needs. Communication between staff and parents
is good - both at the door during drop off and pick up and via the app. Overall, we’re very happy with our choice of nursery and wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to other parents in the area.

We got a great feeling about The Green Cave from the moment we stepped into it. The staff have been absolutely fantastic with helping our son settle in. The nursery has a nurturing environment, where each staff member seems to know every child. The regular updates are not only lovely to see but really
show the time and effort that the staff put into the activities. A real highlight for our son is the regular forest school walks, and we cannot recommend The Green Cave enough.

Was apprehensive of sending our child to the nursery so young, but now really pleased we did. He loves being there. All smiles and no tears when dropping him off. Can see positive changes in his development brought on by mixing with other children and the environment. Love the daily updates. Helpful,

We were a little nervous about putting our daughter into the nursery at first, but The Green Cave has been absolutely fantastic! She has settled in so well and is always very excited to go, which is a credit to the staff. We are kept updated of her progress regularly, and the team are very approachable.

Our son, 20 months old, has been attending the Green Cave Nursery for 3 months now but our experience with the nursery started 6 months ago as our son was struggling to settle. All staff were really supportive and made us feel comfortable with the whole situation. They offered solutions to help our
child and they were always by our side. All the staff are well trained, friendly and with lots of experience making the whole process easier and happier. Our son's key person and the rest of the staff made every effort to help us achieve the best results. Our son is happy there and we are happy as well. We highly recommend the Green Cave Nursery.

I was quite nervous about sending my child back to nursery after lockdown but The Green Cave was excellent with their communication and instructions. They have made the nursery feel completely normal which was a relief. In fact, my child has thrived even more since going back. She cannot wait to go
to nursery, no tears, no anxiety just pure joy and excitement. When I collect her, she comes out with a big smile and normally a handful of artwork that she has done throughout the day. She loves going to the woods and having picnics with her friends on the common. She is learning so much about the outside world which I feel is a better way to learn than a playground. She is really enjoying learning her letters and numbers and wants to continue learning these at home which is great prep for her starting school next year. Both my children have attended the Green Cave Nursery and I would thoroughly recommend it to anyone. The staff are lovely and the nursery has everything a child could need/want.

My daughter has attended Green Cave for the past year and a half and absolutely loves it. We love the small, caring environment and she enjoys the variety of activities and the twice-daily walks to the woods/park or local area. The staff are always friendly and have been particularly good post-lockdown.
We
get daily app updates and regular photos of her activities and progress which are great to see. We will miss it when she goes to primary school next year.

I have sent all 3 of my children to The Green Cave over the last 7 years and my youngest at 3 still attends. The Green Cave is a lovely, calm, nurturing nursery which is run by a great team who have helped all my children gain confidence, make long-lasting friendships and ultimately learn and have a
lot of fun along the way. Whilst there is no outside space do not let this put you off as the children are taken out every day on long forest walks and to the park and all this adds to their learning and excitement. My daughter wakes up on the days she doesn't go to nursery disappointed as she loves it so much!

My son loves going to Green Cave Nursery, and I feel very happy about sending him. All thanks to the extremely friendly staff, and a lovely small nurturing environment. The app updates are wonderful and give a great insight into the day including what he ate, activities he did and how long he slept
for. The lack of a garden is not a problem as the children go out for regular walks and playtime in the park. Drop off and pickups are easy with the side streets and nearby carpark. Would highly recommend!

We feel very lucky to have found Green Cave Nursery. The staff are incredible, our son is developing so well through all of their encouragement. The children are taken outside every day and go exploring, which is perfect for our little one who loves the outdoors. The team are very patient with us as
first-time parents, giving us help and advice at every stage of his development. Would recommend Green Cave to anyone looking for a nursery that will surround their child with love, happiness and lots of fun learning and exploring.

My daughter has attended this nursery since 2018 and loves it. She comes home every day telling me about her day, her friends and how much she loves her teachers. Since joining The Green Cave my daughter's speech has improved so much, which I first noticed within a week of her attending. During lockdown,
we were kept updated as often as possible and the nursery is kept so clean and has lots of things put in place to ensure the safety of everyone.

Tracy has worked in childcare for over 30 years, she is a trained Montessori Teacher as well as having diplomas in Special Educational Needs, Art and Design and Reflexology. She has worked with children with additional needs and a variety of nurseries and schools of varying ages. With all her years of working in different nurseries, she knows exactly what differences an outstanding, loving nursery can make to a family’s life.


Tracy has an open-minded attitude to life; she has 4 children of her own and feels all families need an extra bit of love and support to help them with their young children. Tracy’s passion lies in her early years, exploring nature and having a love for art. She first started out at The Green Cave Day Nursery as a Montessori specialist Teacher and would come into the nursery weekly to provide Montessori sessions, during this time Tracy fell in love with the setting as she loved the calm, relaxed and welcoming atmosphere. Tracy has a passion for the outdoors, she has her own farm where in the past she looked after chickens and sheep. She encourages the children to go out to the forest every day to explore our amazing Kent countryside!


When Tracy is not at the desk you can often find her in one of the rooms extending the children’s learning through her love of the environment and singing about anything and everything!


Gem

Gem Stewart

Job Title: Deputy Manager & Lead SENCO

Joined: 2016

Gem has worked with children since 2015; she has a Level 3 Diploma in Early Years (Early Years Educator) and is a qualified Level 2 Swimming Teacher. Gem first came to The Green Cave Day Nursery in 2016 as part of her Early Years course. Upon completion of her course, she knew she wanted to work in a nursery that had a family atmosphere and joined the team in 2018. Gem's passion lies with babies encouraging our youngest children to walk, talk and giggle!


She is a fantastic photographer and manages our social media pages. Gem has a passion for natural wooden toys and researches their ethical process making sure they are in line with her beliefs.


Gem is also our Lead Special Educational Needs Co-Ordinator. As part of this role, she monitors each child’s learning and development. Should you, she or the team have concerns about your child’s development then she will work with you to put support plans in place in order for each individual child to reach their full potential.


Jane

Jane Martin

Job Title: Deputy Montessori Pre-School Manager

Joined: 2024

Jane joined our Green Cave family in September 2024. Jane has worked in the Early Years for 24 years. She has an International Diploma in Montessori Pedagogy (Level 4) and Early Years Professional Status (Level 6). She has a wealth of experience having been a Manager of both a Day Nursery and a preschool in the past.


Jane is passionate about the Montessori methodology and practice, and how it broadens and enhances children’s learning and understanding, and she is delighted and excited to be bringing her knowledge and expertise to this new venture.
 
In her spare time, Jane is a keen cyclist, having cycled from London to Paris twice and most recently completed a bike ride along the Danube, from Vienna to Budapest!
She also enjoys gardening, reading and walking.
She has two grown-up children of her own.
