Chrysalis Day Nursery & Pre-School has created exciting areas both inside and outdoors for children to play and learn in. Inside there are bright and stimulating rooms which provide opportunities for children to develop their own individual personality.

There is an outdoor play area for children to improve their physical skills and also a vegetable patch to help them learn about nature and enjoy the world around them. The environments offer a vast range of resources; particularly natural ones which encourage heuristic play and resources have been provided to adopt the Curiosity approach too.

Chrysalis is fortunate to have recruited highly qualified staff and are committed to training staff to the highest level and in a broad range of courses to provide the best opportunities and experiences for the children in their care.

Chrysalis is a safe and friendly setting for children to grow physically, socially and emotionally.

Currently graded 'Good' by Ofsted on both their sites (April 2018 and February 2017).

Fantastic nursery with a warm and supportive environment! The staff at Chrysalis Nursery are incredibly friendly and attentive, always making sure the children feel comfortable and engaged. My daughter absolutely loves going to nursery and has flourished since starting here. It's wonderful to see her

My daughter has attended Chrysalis Nursery and Preschool for the past 3 years. Throughout her journey, we discovered she was autistic and the SEN staff at Chrysalis immediately picked this up and worked with us throughout all those years to provide the best support possible, from menu adjustments to
sensory play and SEN coffee mornings; most importantly help with the endless paperwork required to ensure my daughter could flourish in her surroundings not only at nursery but thereafter through her education. All staff at Chrysalis have been patient, caring, understanding, creative, and overall reliable. Albeit the nursery seems small from a building perspective it actually adds to the homely feel, I mean the children even wear slippers at the nursery setting to enhance that homely feel. I am so impressed with Chrysalis my son will be joining much sooner than I enrolled my daughter purely because I know he will be well looked after but also supported to meet milestones.

My son has been with the nursery since December 2022. He finds being apart from me difficult but with the continued support of the lovely bumble bee teachers, who make sure he is comforted and feels safe. He is enjoying it. It's very short-lived tears and he has a lovely day with them.
Which gives
me a sense of relief and allows me to go to work knowing he is happy.
They also take the time to contact me after a drop-off to let me know he is OK. An extra touch that means a lot for a working mum.
Not only does he have fun, in a setting that feels homely. He has flourished with his counting and phonics.
He has a strong interest in learning. Which is being nurtured. Setting the children up in good stead for school.
Each member has been personable. And I feel nothing but confidence with my child in their care.
Couldn't recommend them more.

Our child has loved her experience at Chrysalis. Every single member of staff she has encountered over 3 years has been warm, caring, professional, and enthusiastic. While fees here increased hugely over the past few years - our only negative - the activities and opportunities provided to the children
are excellent, both within the nursery setting and out in the community. We will miss them lots!

I have nothing but positive things to say about Chrysalis Nursery and pre-school. I have two children; one who attended a few years ago (and is now at school) and one who is currently at the nursery. The biggest positive for me is the staff - room staff, managers, maintenance staff, etc. They are all
warm, kind, friendly and go out of their way to ensure the children are well looked after. The activities arranged by the room staff are outstanding; my nearly 2-year-old paints, bakes, plays in the gardens, sings, goes on walks, and the list goes on! My son also enjoys a weekly session with an external dance teacher who comes in to do sessions with them. Chrysalis is brilliant at putting on events for parents. I look forward to parent's evening calls with key workers. If I were to choose a nursery again for my children, I'd pick Chrysalis every time. I'd recommend new parents looking for a nursery go and see it for themselves and chat with the lovely staff.

Our son has come on so much since starting pre school. he has gained a confidence from mixing with older children that has helped with his own development. He seems to enjoy the structured days of circle time and routine that Chrysalis provides. The supportive staff at Chrysalis have also encouraged
him to try new foods and persevere with trying to increase his food intake. My son seems very happy and always loves to tell me what he has done in his day there and who he played with.

Chrysalis Nursery is a wonderful place to send your child. The staff were incredible with all the children. The love and care they show always made me feel confident and happy leaving my child there for the day. The children learned in play and I saw her development go from strength to strength. Amazing
activities, games, and parties were done for all which always made it exciting. I cannot thank the staff enough for their constant kindness, patience, and care.

My child loved her time spent at Chrysalis, she enjoyed getting involved in all the activities and loved to get messy. My two children attend Chrysalis Day Nursery and I cannot fault it. The staff are so caring, attentive and friendly. It is such a lovely feeling seeing how happy and content they are going into nursery every morning. The daily activities and schedule is extremely well thought out and is continuously
changing so that the children never get bored. Both my children's speech and social skills have developed from attending Chrysalis which is all down to the quality of staff. I cannot recommend Chrysalis enough. My girls love it!

Having my daughter at the cricket club has been a wonderful experience so far. She practices most of the activities done and learnt at nursery after each attendance at home.
The staff have been very supportive especially in the area of helping her settle in nicely.
My daughter is a picky eater and
so does not eat most of the food served but the staff are doing a great job in encouraging her in that aspect.

Both of my girls have attended Chrysalis since they each turned 1. I think the activities they organise are brilliant; every day there's something new and exciting from the kids to enjoy.
The staff are all very nurturing and we've never had any issues with leaving them; they and us have always felt
comfortable.
We know most of the staff now who have all been there a long time, which is a great sign.

My son is very happy at Chrysalis (Cricket Club Site), he runs in every day and he’s so sad if we have to miss it. He comes home singing French songs and with lots of arty crafty bits he’s made, which is fab as he doesn’t stay still much at home. They clearly have the magic touch! The staff seem to
really enjoy working together and I do think that adds hugely to the positive atmosphere of the setting. The location is lovely, with loads of space and they take them for little trips to local businesses, the food bank, the war memorial etc. We are so pleased to have found this nursery and always recommend it.

We adore Chrysalis Nursery and all the staff. Our son is so happy and thriving. He has learnt so much and made great friendships and close bonds with his caregivers. I'm quite an anxious mum in terms of worrying about his safety and well-being but I have felt 100% at ease and trusting of his care from
day one. A pleasure to have this reassurance going back to work. And the socials held for families and parents is the icing on the cake. We all feel looked after and one happy community.

My two children have been at this nursery and preschool for the past three years and I cannot fault it. The staff are so friendly and caring towards the children and go above and beyond to help them to develop and enjoy their time at nursery. The activities and facilities for the children are great
and the updates provided through the app are insightful and frequent. They are continuously making improvements and bringing new ideas to engage the children, such as play equipment in the garden, gardening in the summer, themed activities throughout the year relating to the season or holiday, events such as a summer fun day and Christmas Santa grotto. I would highly recommend this nursery.

My three children have attended this wonderful setting and have thrived. The eldest two have transitioned to school and were so well prepared by the caring and nurturing staff at Chrysalis. Chrysalis is an excellent childcare provider and educational facility. Both of our children are joyously happy there. They are treated with respect, warmth and love. Their interests are encouraged, and their relationship to learning has been nurtured from the beginning. Both embrace new things readily,
and our oldest has just started school with great positivity and confidence. This is down to the extraordinary early years practitioners who go above and beyond to give the children the best start possible.

Having looked at a number of nurseries in our area, we chose Chrysalis at Loughton Cricket Club. We were not disappointed. Our daughter has received first-class learning and nurturing. I cannot recommend this nursery highly enough; great care, healthy food, and attentive staff. We will miss Chrysalis
when she leaves.

I am Kate Hersey the Director of Chrysalis Nursery & Pre-School, which was established in 2012. I have a Batchelor of Education Degree from Brunel University, which led me into teaching secondary aged children. I have always had a passion for teaching the younger children so decided to come into early years and that’s when Chrysalis evolved. We have created a homely environment for children to learn and are well equipped with high quality, natural resources. I love watching their development and am blessed to have 3 children of my own who have loved being at Chrysalis. I look forward to welcoming you soon. We are very fortunate at Chrysalis to employ specialist staff, which enhance the support and level of learning in the Nursery & Pre-School and are supernumerary to our practitioners.

I have worked with children for over 20 years but have particularly worked with SEND children for 11 years. I am also a child’s play therapist outside of my SENDCO work.


I hold a Level 4 qualification in Child Development & Adult and Child’s Play Therapy and Level 3 qualifications in Health and Social Care, SEN, working with people with learning disabilities.


I also have various CPD training for children with needs as well as an autism spectrum award.


I enjoy supporting any children at Chrysalis with any additional needs and devising IEP plans to support their development and needs.
