Chrysalis Day Nursery & Pre-School has created exciting areas both inside and outdoors for children to play and learn in. Inside there are bright and stimulating rooms which provide opportunities for children to develop their own individual personality.

There is an outdoor play area for children to improve their physical skills and also a vegetable patch to help them learn about nature and enjoy the world around them. The environments offer a vast range of resources; particularly natural ones which encourage heuristic play and resources have been provided to adopt the Curiosity approach too.

Chrysalis is fortunate to have recruited highly qualified staff and are committed to training staff to the highest level and in a broad range of courses to provide the best opportunities and experiences for the children in their care.

Chrysalis is a safe and friendly setting for children to grow physically, socially and emotionally.

Currently graded 'Good' by Ofsted on both their sites (April 2018 and February 2017).

We really love this nursery. The staff are very friendly and we can see a lot of improvement in our son's development. He always learns new things and is happy to share them with all the family.

Extremely professional staff who really care about the children. The activities are varied and fun and keep them entertained. My son runs in every morning and is always sad to leave.

Both of my children have flourished at Chrysalis Day Nursery & Pre-school. The staff plan thoughtful and stimulating activities which have nurtured a love for learning and a love of fun!
I have full confidence that my daughter (who currently attends) is happy and loved and well looked after each day

We've been very happy with the nursery so far. Our daughter has bonded very well with her key worker and all the other workers in the room. She seems genuinely excited to see them each morning.
The online portal the nursery uses is great, as each day they put photos and videos on the portal so that
we can see what activities she has been enjoying that day. The staff really make an effort to think of new and exciting activities to involve the children in each day.
One big plus for us is that the nursery is open until 6.30 pm, just in case we get delayed at work. Most of the nurseries in the area are only open until 6 pm.
We've noticed that since starting at Chrysalis Day Nursery our daughter's eating has really improved. She is much more willing to try different flavours and textures which she wouldn't have done before starting at the nursery.

The staff are very friendly and caring. Different activities are given each day to develop different skill sets.
My toddler always leaves with clean clothes and is really happy when picked up. He is fed very well and the food is very nutritious.

My daughter has been at Chrysalis Nursery since she was 8 months old and is developing into a bright, sociable, caring and confident child. All the staff that have looked after her, I have always felt confident leaving her with, all her key workers she has always formed close bonds with.
The days
are always filled with fun, educational activities and they have a large outdoor garden area.
I have recently been going through toilet training and the staff in the Butterfly room really helped to keep my daughter on track to what we were practising at home.
I can’t recommend Chrysalis enough.

My boy/girl twins have been going to Chrysalis for nearly a year now. They started when they were about 7 months old. I was concerned that they would struggle as they were so young (and small due to being premature) but the staff couldn't have been more helpful or accommodating. I have seen their personalities
grow and their social skills are fantastic. They do activities at nursery that I just couldn't do at home with them. Their days are full of play but also educational at the same time. I am always kept up to date with everything that they have done during a day.
My main concern with them being twins is that they would be "treated as one" but this has definitely not been the case. They have grown and developed as individual children and are encouraged to form friendships with other children as twins can tend to stick together which is great but I didn't want them isolating themselves away from others at nursery. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Chrysalis, it is a fantastic nursery.

I couldn't recommend them more. They take great care of children, planning activities well, ensuring kids are kept busy but learning at the same time. I have a super-shy bilingual child and I was worried about how she will cope with such a big transition.
Staff at preschool went the extra mile to
make her feel comfortable and safe. Her English improved a lot in good time, staff are open and friendly. They actually listen to you and communicating with you on great levels. I love this place so much, my younger kids will attend this place too.

As a new mother returning to work and having to leave my 11 mth old for the 1st time, I was both sad and anxious like most new mothers; how would my little one cope without me? Would she be bored? Would she miss me? Chrysalis Day Nursery totally alleviated all my fears. After a 2 week settling in period,
my child was already beginning to wave me off smiling and laughing. She absolutely loves Chrysalis and I can only put that down to the kindness of the staff and the activities which they do with them on a daily basis which stops them from having even a second to miss their mummies.


The staff are incredibly helpful and have always happily answered every query I have had. Every evening when I pick my child up they take the time to talk me through her day, what she has eaten, what she has done which is something I really appreciate.


I would recommend Chrysalis to anyone looking for a nursery for their child.

My daughter started settling in gradually and initially I was worried with her being the youngest in the group. The staff were more than happy to cater for all of her individual needs, she couldn’t crawl around yet or eat solids like the other toddlers. They had no qualms at all giving her breastmilk
from storage bags!
She has come on leaps and bounds in the caterpillar room, she loves the staff and her development has been extremely rapid (always copying the other children and moving onto the next thing). I think she looks out for her friends when they aren’t there! She’s a real people’s person and is very confident and sociable in new environments which is no doubt down to the great staff and caterpillar room daily activities.
I’m so pleased with her overall development and would highly recommend Chrysalis Day Nursery.

My daughter loves her days spent at Chrysalis Nursery. The staff are all so friendly, helpful and approachable. I feel my daughter is in a safe, caring and fun environment. The emphasis on learning through play is fantastic and there is always a wide variety of activities for the children. My daughter
especially loves taking part in music and movement and stretch and grow, playing in the home corner and dressing up. I couldn't be happier with the progress my daughter has made since joining Chrysalis Nursery and I would highly recommend Chrysalis Nursery to friends and family.

I have had 4 years experience of Chrysalis Day Nursery & Pre-school as I have had 2 boys attend since babies. I cannot praise the nursery/pre-school enough. My eldest child had additional needs and they could not be more supportive and helpful in meeting his care needs. The staff are excellent with
the children, always patient and cheerful and they always have time for the parents. The learning environment provided is excellent and this was evident when my eldest attended reception in mainstream school. My two boys have always loved going to nursery/preschool and I cannot recommend their service highly enough. Excellent day care facilities.

I am Kate Hersey the Director of Chrysalis Nursery & Pre-School, which was established in 2012. I have a Batchelor of Education Degree from Brunel University, which led me into teaching secondary aged children. I have always had a passion for teaching the younger children so decided to come into early years and that’s when Chrysalis evolved. We have created a homely environment for children to learn and are well equipped with high quality, natural resources. I love watching their development and am blessed to have 3 children of my own who have loved being at Chrysalis. I look forward to welcoming you soon. We are very fortunate at Chrysalis to employ specialist staff, which enhance the support and level of learning in the Nursery & Pre-School and are supernumerary to our practitioners.

I have worked with children for over 20 years but have particularly worked with SEND children for 11 years. I am also a child’s play therapist outside of my SENDCO work.


I hold a Level 4 qualification in Child Development & Adult and Child’s Play Therapy and Level 3 qualifications in Health and Social Care, SEN, working with people with learning disabilities.


I also have various CPD training for children with needs as well as an autism spectrum award.


I enjoy supporting any children at Chrysalis with any additional needs and devising IEP plans to support their development and needs.
