My daughter has attended Edgbaston nursery since March 2018. She immediately settled in well and looks forward to attending the nursery every day. The nursery environment is welcoming, and the staff are excellent and go the extra mile to support and care for the children. Parents are kept well informed
of the child’s progress. My daughter has made so many friends and built strong relationships with her key workers and all staff during her time at the nursery. She is going to school in September and we will miss everyone at the nursery.

My son has attended Edgbaston Nursery School since he was 7-months-old, and he is now about to start school. During that time he has really flourished under their care. All of the staff go above and beyond: there is never any sense that this is just a job for them, but instead they cultivate really
strong relationships with the children (and parents). It really feels like an extension of our family, and we’ll be sorry to say goodbye in September.

This is my second child who has attended the nursery. The staff are brilliant. They work hard and always give the care that is needed. My children have left the nursery ready for the next stage of education.
Management and staff teamwork is excellent and shows with the service they provide.

Edgbaston Nursery is a fantastic nursery, my daughter has been going since she was 1-year-old and has come on such a long way. She thoroughly enjoyed her time there. She made lots of friends and had lovely relationships with the practitioners. She will really miss it when she leaves to start school!
I also have another child there now who loves the nursery just as much.

Edgbaston Nursery School is an excellent nursery. My son has been going to this nursery since he was 1 and a half and will soon be graduating and go to school.
I recommend this nursery to anyone looking for a safe and nurturing environment for their children. My son has a special bond with some of
the staff at nursery and I cannot thank them enough for their attention and passion in teaching. They helped my son with building his confidence and managing his own emotions as well as encouraging him to open up and participate in activities. What I liked the most was that I could always ring the nursery and check how my son is getting on throughout the day and on pick up I was getting detailed information about how he's spent the day including activities and what/ how much he had eaten or if there was anything he had enjoyed doing. The staff at Edgbaston Nursery School are lovely, hard-working and positive and above all extremely capable. Huge thank you to everyone!

My oldest child has been attending Edgbaston Nursery School since he was 11 months old. He is now starting school in September. My second child has been attending since March 2020. The care they have provided for both my children has been amazing. I could not have asked for anything better. I have not
had one day where both my children have not been happy to attend. The nursery staff and management keep me updated daily of my children's progress and development through the online portal, email and WhatsApp. It makes my day when I receive a picture of what they have been doing that day whilst I'm at work. They even caught my child's first steps on video for me to keep. It's those personal touches that make this nursery so special. The staff and management are very approachable and any questions I have to get answered the same day. Overall, I cannot fault the nursey, staff or care and support they give to children and parents at all!

Amazing nursery for all ages of children... they meet all children's needs in a homely environment. My daughter has been attending the nursery since the start of the year and I'm amazed how she has created special bonds with the staff in the room.
The homemade fresh meals prepared on-site is a bonus,
my daughter is a very fussy eater but she happily enjoys meals at Edgbaston Nursery School and seems very content.
I can blindly trust the staff in early learners, definitely recommend this nursery to any parent/s looking for a space for their child/children.
Within days my 2-year-old learnt to count numbers confidently, staff also encourage children to get messy and explore a variety of activities.
Planning and learning is outstanding, couldn't have made a better choice.

Both of my children have been attending the preschool at Edgbaston Nursery School since February 2017 and I wish I had moved them to this nursery months ago. The setting provides an excellent service, my children love being there and have thrived in a very short time. The food and facilities are fantastic
and the staff have really gotten to know my children and are accommodating them very well. The daily text messages are informative and the new phone/tablet app allows me to review how my children are doing against the EYFS at any time.

Prior to attending this nursery, I read a review stating the nursery is just about fees and unfortunately, this is very much the case. The nursery atmosphere is unwelcoming and after a while, my child was unhappy at this nursery. Ending the placement was the best thing for my child now he thrives and
is very happy in his new setting.

We totally refute the claims made by this Parent. Any concerns regarding behavioural issues (children or staff) are always dealt with as a matter of urgency. In fact when the Parent raised a concern about the child not bonding with the key person, the Head of Room & Nursery Manager investigated the matter, discussed with the key person and presented the Parent with a collage of the child and the key person enjoying daily activities and positive/warm interaction which the parent had not witnessed. Two other issues were raised by the Parent and were investigated and resolved immediately. An issue regarding 15 hours funding arose when the Parent served notice during the term thinking that the funding was transferrable between nurseries whenever the Parent wished. After consultation with the NEF Team at Birmingham City Council they advised us that funds are only transferred mid term from nursery to nursery in unusual circumstances and in this case the funds could not be transferred. We informed the Parent of this and offered to keep the child's funded hours place open with us for the rest of the term. We have received many testimonials from our Parents thanking our staff for the warm and caring environment that their children experience in our nursery. Regarding payment of fees, the Parent was consistently late with payments, this was the reason why we had to raise concerns over non-payment of fees, which we feel is reasonable.

Staff have taken excellent care of both my children (12 months old to pre-school) and I cannot recommend the nursery highly enough. What is particularly important to me has been the care/affection shown to the children, alongside the fun and range of activities that take place. There are regular communications
with parents, and it feels like the staff really know the personalities of the individual child. I am confident in the standard of care particularly with health needs related to asthma, and the nursery has been outstanding in the way staff have provided care to my baby with Developmental Hip Dysplasia - needing a hip spica cast for 4 months. This could have been a particularly challenging time but the support from the nursery has been top class. Staff put in place specific protocols and training etc to ensure that she stayed comfortable and safe. Even though she is delayed walking, they are tailoring her learning opportunities and social interactions to suit her overall development.

I struggled to find a nursery that my husband and I were happy with when returning to work post maternity leave. Edgbaston Nursery School made that transition so easy and really made our daughter feel welcomed, nurtured and engaged with every time she attended. She began attending one day a week in
baby room and has progressed through the various rooms and now attends 3 days a week. Staff are excellent and really want to see her flourish and expand her knowledge and skills which will set her up for the future. Food is excellent and Husband normally comments that he wishes they did a take away menu so he could have one of their lunches whilst hes at work!!! Any queries or concerns we may have are answered immediately. Daily text messages make my day as I get an insight into what they've been doing today and staff give a very comprehensive review of the days activities when we collect. Overall an excellent, welcoming and caring nursery that helps children grow into great adults.

Zareena Rashid

Job Title: Nursery Manager

Joined: 2012

Zareena is the manager at Edgbaston Nursery School and she has been in this role since the nursery first opened in 2012. Zareena has been working with children and families for just over 16 years and has a wealth of experience in the early years. She also has a degree in Early Childhood Studies & Education studies, level 3 in Leadership & Management, as well as numerous other qualifications.
