This Little Bear's Nursery School has been set up with homeliness in mind, aiming for a warm and stimulating environment that can contribute to positive early years learning.

Opened in 2011, the nursery pursues age-specific learning, while giving children the freedom to explore and be creative. The facility has a large garden and artificial grass, with outdoor play being important to the curriculum, while also having sleep areas.

As well as a sound education, the nursery also supports good nutrition, catering for specific dietary requirements and with the highest food hygiene standards.

The Little Bear's team launched their refurbished rooms in 2021 which have been designed to promote a more comprehensive sensory experience to enhance children's learning experience. Their new baby room has plenty of space to enable babies to move around safely with plenty of exciting resources to explore, as well as a separate tranquil rest area to provide a space for some well-deserved rest.

My child's attended Little Bears for almost 4 years. We have always been extremely happy with the care provided by all the staff; the managers are friendly, approachable, professional, but above all, conscientious when it comes to the well-being of all children at LB's. Our child has an autumn birthday
and quite mature for her age, so we were concerned that she might begin to find a nursery setting unstimulating in the months leading up to school. We could not have been more wrong - the pre-school staff consistently encourage her to reach her potential when it comes to phonics and maths. She's able to write her name, the whole alphabet, write & count to 100, knows all the planets in the solar system, and much more. She also understands the meaning of more complex words like 'similar'. All of this whilst in a nursery setting where staff are also caring for children much younger than her. Little Bears offers an exemplary childcare and education on all accounts and we couldn't be happier.

My son started at this nursery in July 2021 at the age of 1 and left in July 2024 to start Reception in school. I am very disappointed to see that my child left nursery without being able to write his name or numbers. I understand all children develop differently, however the fact that my no concerns
were risen by the staff that my child could possibly have ADHD really does concern me, they spent 3 years with him and nothing was ever raised. My child has made such a massive improvement in 5 months since at Reception, he can now write his name and is receiving support from all the staff. Whilst in general the nursery is okay, I suggest that children should be taught more and not just left to play.

We are sorry to hear that you now feel your son did not reach certain milestones at the nursery, specifically regarding writing his name and numbers.
Our approach at Little Bear’s is rooted in the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS) framework, which emphasises learning through play as a crucial development component. By 48 months, when your son left nursery for Reception in September 2024, his fine motor skills were developing, including recognising his name and using a tripod grip when holding a pencil. This demonstrated typical development for his age and was not a concern.
We also appreciate that children develop at their own pace and are glad to hear of your son’s progress in Reception. At age 4, many children are still developing their fine motor skills, which can affect their ability to write their names or numbers consistently. It is usual for children aged approximately 48 months to 60 months (4 to 5 years) to begin to write their names with some assistance before writing independently.
Our team carefully observes and supports each child, maintaining open communication with parents to align on strategies. We encourage parents to share concerns during daily interactions or parent meetings to ensure appropriate support is provided. Having reviewed the Learning Journey, I can see that many matters were discussed between the nursery and yourself over the 3 years your son attended; however, none related to the development of his fine motor skills.
Play remains essential in fostering creativity, problem-solving, and social skills, and we continually adapt our approach to support all children’s development, including literacy and numeracy.

I cannot recommend this nursery enough, my daughter attended from 6 months to her 2nd birthday which is when we unfortunately had to leave due to a home move. My daughter thrived at this nursery and learned key socialising skills. She learned how to communicate with carers as well as the usual ABCs
and counting etc. She made great friends and had a lovely connection with the staff. Two staff members specifically in the baby room are excellent and truly care for the children.

We have had such a wonderful experience with Little Bear Nursery in Wanstead Village and I wanted to share my heartfelt appreciation for the exceptional care provided by the nursery staff. All the staff members are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making my daughter and our family feel right at home
from day one.
The nursery is always very clean and well-maintained, creating a safe and inviting environment for the children. My daughter absolutely loved going to nursery every day and thoroughly enjoyed all the activities and learning opportunities they offered.
It is with a heavy heart that we are leaving only because we are moving to another area. We will miss the nursery dearly and are so grateful for the positive impact it has had on our daughter. Thank you for all the love and care you have given her.

All of our children have attended Little Bears Seagry Road, we have been part of their family since 2018. Our two eldest who are now in school love coming to pick their youngest brother up and often remind him in the morning of what fun he is going to have. It is such a caring setting where the children
are always put first. I could not recommend the setting, key workers and management more highly!

I can highly recommend Little Bear's Nursery in Wanstead Village. We had to change from another local nursery as they would not accommodate nap times, and the feeling with the staff needed to improve.
Little Bear's feels like a big family; all the staff is very involved and professional. They have

This nursery is superb, I have no problem leaving my daughter with any member of the team, they are all very professional, friendly, approachable and know exactly what they’re doing. The establishment is excellently maintained, and they have a dedicated kitchen chef who prepares some amazing meals.
The staff record all of my daughter’s activities, naps and meals with impressive precision with their tablets and upload it for my wife and I to see on around an hourly basis on our phones. My daughter absolutely loves it here and she will continue to attend for as long as she can.

Both my children currently attend Little Bears in Wanstead Village and I feel so lucky to have found this nursery. The staff are caring and kind and put a lot of time into creating different activities for development and interest. There have also been sessions for parents to attend the nursery e.g.
for a tea party or arts and crafts which have been really fun. The managers are very organised and experienced. They efficiently keep things running day-to-day but also know every individual child and so are able to offer extra support and attention wherever it is needed. It is great to feel reassured that my children will be safe and happy while my husband and I are at work.

I can only highly recommend this nursery!
The staff are patient, kind and professional. The food is varied and nutritious. The staff take feedback on board and let me know every day how my daughter is doing. On top of taking wonderful care of my little girl, they update the app frequently so I know
throughout the day how she's eating, sleeping and playing. I get developmental feedback every week and always feel heard by everyone in the office and the baby room! The camaraderie amongst the staff gives a feeling of being in an extended family! It's just such a wonderful, loving environment. The nursery is very clean and the kids have daily access to the garden. Communication is incredible! There's a newsletter, but there are also messages about policy changes, meal plan changes, workshops or updates about my child. I'm so happy with Little Bears Seagry Road! Thank you for all that you do to keep my little girl happy!
