Job Title: Nursery Manager

I was lucky enough to grow up in sunny South Africa and emigrated to the UK in 2005 with my 3 children. I have always had a passion for developing others and helping them to learn and grow so I qualified as a teacher and worked in several teaching jobs as well as working as a Learning and Development Officer for a retail company. I have worked in a range of schools, and preschools and supported children with special needs over the past 20 years before going into childminding and eventually working in nursery settings.
After working for Yellow Dot in different positions, I became the Nursery Manager of our Otterbourne nursery in September 2018. I fell in love with Yellow Dot’s ethos and Froebelian principles, enabling the children to develop through real-life experiences, open-ended topics and interests, and links to the community. As a manager, I am lucky to have an enthusiastic team that creates a caring and nurturing environment for the children, helping them to develop in all areas of the EYFS. Music and singing are also an important part of our daily routine in the nursery - we enjoy singing and dancing to Boogie Mites, seasonal songs and nursery rhymes.

I have over 25 years of experience working in early years and have worked in many childcare roles giving me a greater understanding of children and their family's needs.
I studied and completed my NNEB and have a leadership and management qualification which supports us to develop an inspiring team. Being a parent myself whose child has been to this nursery, I understand the importance of creating a nurturing and safe environment where children feel confident to learn and grow.
I feel very passionate about the attachment of children and how the Key Person approach works well to support the children when they first start with us. I love to be outside and enjoy spending time outside with the children showing them the wonders of nature and the seasonal change the garden brings.
