The Review Score of 8.4 (8.370) out of 10 for Hatherop Castle Nursery is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.
a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.
b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.5 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.
The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:
a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.
The Average Rating of 4.861 for Hatherop Castle Nursery is calculated as follows: ( (32 Excellents x 5) + (3 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 36 Ratings = 4.861
b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').
The 3.509 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Hatherop Castle Nursery is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:
The 5 points available are broken down as follows:
i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25
ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 58 number of registered child places is 11.6. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 11.6 = 0.259
When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

I have a BA Hons in Primary Teaching (First Class) and my main role is to oversee the development of the Nursery. I am passionate about giving children the best possible start to their education by encouraging them to develop a deep love of learning from the offset. I am working with the Nursery staff to develop a curriculum that prioritises learning opportunities that support the development of key learning habits such as curiosity, collaboration and resilience using books as a stimulus. Exciting topics are supported by a rigorous framework to ensure that both prime and specific learning opportunities are mastered.

Trained at Froebel Institute, University of London with a BEd.
I have worked for Hatherop since it became a prep school in 1989
Main duties are to lead and oversee the daily operation of the Nursery department along with teaching a group of Kindergarten children. This includes ensuring that all statutory requirements of the Early Years Foundation Stage are adhered to, specifically, adult/child ratios within the differing ages of the children and overseeing the completion of accident forms, medication forms etc. I liaise with the Headmaster and Head of Early Years on a regular basis to maintain communication regarding pupils, staff and events in the Nursery. I run a weekly Parent and Toddler session on a Friday for pre-nursery children and their parents. This is a social session which helps the children and families to feel welcome to the school and facilitates the transition from home to school for the children.

I have been working at Hatherop Castle Nursery since January 2015.
I am a creative person and love doing arts and crafts activities at home, so working with small children and helping them to create their very own masterpieces is great. I enjoy going for walks in the countryside and visiting my in-laws and family in France during the school holidays. I am now looking forward to starting my own family, after recently getting married, and hope to put my knowledge of little people to the test!

I was born in Cape Town, South Africa where I lived and worked until 2004 when I left my home country to explore the great big world.
What a wonderful adventure it has been so far! My favourite place to be is by the sea, listening to the sound of the waves crashing on the shore. When I have time, I like to read a good novel or practise playing my guitar.

I have been working in the Nursery for the past five years and I absolutely love working at Hatherop. Every day is different and the children are just wonderful. When I’m not at work I love to spend time with my large family and going on long country walks with our toy poodle, Eddie. During the holidays I’m lucky enough to escape to the French countryside to our beautiful home in South Normandy.
