Townsend Montessori Nursery Margate is a welcoming and homely setting, located in the picturesque coastal town of Margate. The setting follows a Montessori approach to education, which prioritises the growth and development of each child, in a supportive and engaging space designed for them to learn and thrive.

The nursery offers exceptional care, enriched by unique learning opportunities for your child. One such experience is child-friendly cooking classes, inspired by the Montessori approach, fostering meaningful connections between children and the world around them and helping to equip children with valuable skills and deeper knowledge of the cooking process.

Inside, the three rooms are thoughtfully designed and equipped with age-appropriate resources to support children's development. Outside, there is a large, secure garden that provides ample space for children to play, explore and learn, offering a sand and water play area, a climbing frame, trikes and open spaces to run around.

The youngest children begin their journey in the Lion Cubs Room on the ground floor, where their Key Carer follows their individual routines and plans fun activities for them to enjoy throughout the day. As they grow older, they progress to the Monkey's Room, where they are encouraged to make independent choices and select their own resources.

In the Tigers Room, Pre-School children develop school readiness skills and can participate in various extra-curricular activities such as rugby, football, dance and yoga to promote an active and healthy lifestyle.

My son joined the nursery from 9 months and has enjoyed it ever since. The staff have been very attentive and always keep him busy with plenty of interesting activities, both inside and out, that I would simply struggle to find the time (and imagination) to come up with at home. I value the time that
the staff have at the end of the day to give me a breakdown of what he's done and answer any questions I have. The app provides us with comfort and a sense of security with regular updates throughout his time there. I found the PDF explanation of the fees and funding a little confusing at first but regular exchanges with the admin staff we managed to work through it.
Have spoken highly of the nursery to other parents and will continue to recommend going forward.

Since my girl has been at the nursery she is coming on great. All the staff are so Pleasant and nurturing. She has fitted in so well there and the staff always know how to deal with whatever she wants or needs, I love the fact that she goes to this nursery and couldn't have found a better place for
her to go. We love the fact that they are always there to listen about everything and during handover they tell you everything that she has done that day which is greatly appreciated

My daughter has been going here since she was 9 months old. She absolutely loves it and has come on leaps and bounds since joining. They're always doing interesting activities and expanding their experiences. She is so sociable and engaged and has a real bond with the staff, who just seem to genuinely
adore her and care about her development and her future. They encourage her to be independent and fully embrace her being loud and weird and expressive. If it takes a village, Townsend are our village.

My son has been gradually building his time up at nursery before I return to work. He is one of the youngest in his room, which had me worried at first but every day he is there I see how involved he is with activities and how much he enjoys them! I feel confident that he is being well taken care of
and is always happy to see his key person and the other ladies in his room. Thank you Townsend for making this transition for our family so smooth!!

My 1 year old started in the baby room in September and since then his development has came on so much. He loves nursery and has a bond with all his teachers they always give a good handover and let me know how my son has been and what he has been doing throughout the day. Before my son started nursery
he really struggle to separate from me but since starting nursery he's become so confident and will happily go into nursery and play.

Lovely nursery situated close to the town centre. Great experience so far. The staff is friendly and supportive in all situations that might occur. My little one loves the place and she can't wait for when she will be able to go again. The nursery is spacious with garden equipment for different age
groups. The reason why I chose this nursery was that it's very close to the school where I hope she will go and it's close to our home. Highly recommended, you will not regret it.

We had an issue with our grandson's behaviour and arranged a meeting to discuss the issue..they were helpful and understood what was needed to proceed with the behaviour issues. Management and staff kept me updated on a daily basis so we could praise our grandson for his behaviour.

Always friendly, welcoming, and happy staff. Good security. The spaces I have been in are clean and well-kept. The food smells delicious. The staff gives great feedback on how my grandson's day went, every time it is something different, which makes it more personal. My grandson was a slow talker, but
his vocabulary has grown in leaps and bounds! Such a happy chappy!

My son went to your nursery before he started big school and you guys were great with him, my daughter also still goes there and she loves it too. The people have been so friendly ever since the very beginning, when my son started there, very considerate and caring people, not just to my children but

Our son loves the nursery. The staff are wonderful and incredibly supportive. He comes home having learned new things and had new experiences we could never recreate at home.
Communication is clear and regular so we know what he's eaten each day, how many nappy changes and even get a little glimpse
of some of the day's activities.

We have had such a fantastic experience with Townsend Montessori Nursery Margate. From the initial phone call I made as an enquiry I was met with such a professional manner from the Deputy Manager, she then met with me in person to discuss the enrolment process which was carried out with such ease and
kindness. Our settle-in sessions were booked for the following week. It was thorough and friendly when explaining all the details of the day-to-day activities and program that our daughter would follow. She then went on to be our daughter's key person for her time with them. The attention to detail of the staff was amazing, down to the tone of voice they used when welcoming the children into the room was noticeable. It’s evident that all the team take such care to ensure your children have the best possible experience in their care. I’d like to give a special mention to the Manager and all the staff here who made the experience so wholesome and easy.

I love this nursery. Our son has absolutely thrived there, from being very upset at being separated from me at all to being so confident now. The staff in rooms, at reception and all support staff are always charming, approachable and polite. They all really care for the children and it's really lovely
to see. I'd love a few more updates on food etc on the app but that is such a minor detail in the context of how happy I am to know about the excellent care he receives whenever he is there!

Lovely nursery, my oldest son attended for 2 years and my youngest is now in his second year. The nursery is always clean and well looked after, my son always comes out smiling and the staff are so polite and can't do enough to help. Highly recommend the nursery to anyone for their children.

I can't say enough about this nursery. The staff are amazing. Very welcoming, kind, helpful, and always smiling. My daughter started in this nursery when she was only 7.5 months. Since then and even now that she is 3 years old, hasn't been a day that she didn't come back home happy. She is always happy
and excited to attend her nursery. Also, within the last year she very talkative, in a positive way, for her teachers and how exciting, good, and funny her day has been.

Used to be very good but since it was taken over it has gone downhill massively.
You now have to pay for bank Holidays even though they are shut.
Timing we're changed so even if you pick up early you have to pay till 5
Used to a get a good report of when they were picked up, however, certain members
of staff give very little details.

Our fees remain payable on bank holidays in order for us to continue to pay our staff as well as covering general building costs such as rent. We do, however, offer a 15% discount on fees for these days.
As a group, we are always trying to improve our communication with our families. We aim to provide high-quality and regular updates through our social media channels, monthly nursery newsletter, bi-monthly group newsletter and via our parent app. We appreciate your feedback on this.

Hi! I'm Terri, the Nursery Manager at Townsend Montessori Nursery Maidstone. I am also qualified for Advanced NVQ Level 3.


I am passionate about giving children the best start in their early education by providing them with a fun and stimulating environment. This allows them to thrive in their abilities and ensures that they have access to enriching experiences to equip them with an understanding of the world around them.
