Partou Merchant Square Day Nursery & Pre-school opened in September 2014 as a brand new purpose-built nursery in the newly developed Paddington Basin area. The nursery intends to quickly earn itself a reputation as the leading provider of childcare in Paddington, offering outstanding care to children aged 3 months to 5 years and will be open from 7.30am to 6.30pm Monday - Friday, for 51 weeks of the year (closed during Christmas week).

Merchant Square Day Nursery, is a warm and welcoming nursery providing high-quality care and delivering outstanding outcomes for their children. Offering stimulating and engaging spaces for children to grow and develop in, with lots of natural resources providing fantastic opportunities for children to explore, play and learn.

Merchant Square Day Nursery, follow a simple ethos where they believe that children should be allowed to be children and the adults who look after them should believe that too. They use real and authentic items in play which provides many more learning opportunities and encourages children to have proper experiences.

Merchant Square Day Nursery believes in nurturing children’s individual interests to help them develop and grow in all areas of their education and well being. Learning through play is at the heart of everything that they do.

Freshly prepared meals are provided onsite, catering for allergies and special dietary requirements.

Very insightful. Came away with lots of tips and useful advice. The staff is brilliant and I always see a huge improvement when anything is flagged. They go out of their way to help us and we're so happy to have found such a lovely place for our daughter to learn and grow.

My son, who is currently 3 years old has been attending the nursery for a year now and he really likes it. He loves all the staff and seems to know them all not only his key worker and get along well. The room are spacious, they have a lot of activities during the day and when possible, go outdoors.
He is becoming more independent and is engaging better with his peers. Food is also good and healthy, no junk. Living in the area, we were lucky to get a discount on the fees. They also accept the 15-hour funding. Highly recommend,

My son absolutely loved this nursery.


I felt he was safe and the staff were fully engaged in the children.


They supported potty training and his various milestones.


I found the staff to be loving and meeting the children's emotional needs which is very important to me.


If I had to be very

critical the only issue we had were when too many staff took vacation at the same time which my son found difficult. There were a lot of different faces covering for staff.


Overall I would recommend this nursery.

We are sorry you had an issue with staffing, unfortunately, when sickness happens or when the same time staff are on holiday we try our best to use the same faces each day to cover ratios. Unfortunately, this isn’t always possible. It is the policy that only 2 members of staff take holiday at the same time.

I had a very good experience in the nursery. My child was difficult in many ways, but after joining the nursery he became better and more clearer, he eats well, babbling and enjoying his time, he's more social.

The staff are very kind.
My daughter has learned so much in a short amount of time
She has gained a lot of confidence and is also very happy at home after I pick her up from nursery.
Also, I think the nursery ladies are doing a great job. My daughter is always very clean when I pick her up.

I can only say how accomodating this nursery has been for me and my two children, who both attend. My children have developed and progressed through the year and a half they have been here. Learning and playing have helped the educational progress for them both. As well as being careful about my son's
allergies and needs. I have and will continue to recommend to friends and family in the area, as I believe all children should have the experience we did.

I was happy with the service, environment and support that I received while my daughter was at Merchant Square Day Nursery. My 2 year old son attends the toddler room and he is always so happy there. Staff members are really amazing and caring. They always put children first and do great activities with them. We love Merchant Square Day Nursery for its staff and welcoming community. The key workers really ensure the children are happy, engaged and learning. Wonderful team whom are all very caring. Our son settled in very well and we have been very pleased with the way he is progressing. Like any parents, we were very anxious at the start but now our son is so much more confident in his interaction with other adults and children.

As parents, we have been extremely happy with our child's experience and progress at nursery. He started during the pandemic at the age of 1 and has benefitted from being surrounded by other children his age. His language skills have developed greatly since being at nursery and he has become very social.
The staff at the nursery have been great and accommodating when necessary. My child's key person has been fabulous which has eased our guilt of being away from our son.

I hold a level 4 qualification in Childcare and Education, and I have had the privilege of working with children of all ages during my childcare experience since 2005. I am very proud to be able to work with children in their Early Years; being an educator at the most crucial stage in children’s lives. I believe that the first five years of a child’s life are the foundations that support happiness, health, social skills, and emotional intelligence.
