Newbury Gardens Day Nursery provides childcare for children aged 3 months to 5 years in the Newbury area, offering full and part time places.

The nursery is a short distance from the town centre and local train station in Greenham House, a building which dates back to 1845.

The nursery is surrounded by Greenham Gardens which the nursery staff and children can enjoy.

Their ethos is to create an environment where children are motivated, engaged, independent thinkers, who have a positive attitude to learning, supported by secure and respectful relationships.

Each room in the nursery is resourced and set up to be a homely environment where children can build relationships with staff and other children. Each age group has access to their own outdoor space where they can learn new skills for example on bikes and trikes, in the mud kitchens or on larger equipment such as slides. There is also provision for children to sleep during the day if required.

My youngest son has been attending Newbury Gardens Day Nursery since June 2015. His induction into the nursery was excellent and the warm and friendly staff worked really hard to get to know him and his needs and he settled brilliantly. The daily feedback is always detailed and informative about what
he has eaten, how long he has slept and the activities he has done.
The staff are ALL friendly and welcoming. I have experience of other nurseries and preschools and find the staff morale at Newbury Gardens to be exceptionally high by comparison which leads to a great bond between families and staff.
I love receiving the monthly update sheets with information on his development and the staff observations as well as their plan for the next month so we can see the progress he is making and how well the staff know him.
We really couldn't be happier with the nursery and care he receives which is a great tribute to the Manager and the rest of the staff.

A friendly, bright and colourful nursery with a great outdoor space. My little boy has been going to Newbury Gardens for two years and over that time the staff have helped his confidence to grow enormously. His speech was a little bit behind his peers and he had some wobbles socialising, but his key
workers have worked very closely with us to help him blossom into a happy, chatty little boy. I can't thank them enough. Highly recommended! :)

Brilliant nursery, the staff are amazing my daughter has developed and learnt so much. The variety of activities and food is of high standard. The location and setting is just right. I feel comfortable that my daughter is safe having fun and I trust the staff in everything they do.

Newbury Gardens did a great job of settling in my little boy which is always a anxious time for the parents. They inform me of what he has been up to everyday and has formed close bonds with the staff and children 8 months on.

Current Review Score: 9.2 (9.152)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.2 (9.152) out of 10 for Newbury Gardens Day Nursery is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.2 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.952 for Newbury Gardens Day Nursery is calculated as follows: ( (80 Excellents x 5) + (4 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 84 Ratings = 4.952

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.2 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Newbury Gardens Day Nursery is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 70 number of registered child places is 14. 7 Positive Reviews ÷ 14 = 0.5

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
