Providing quality care since 1970, Jack and Jill Day Nursery is open year-round, welcoming children aged from 3 months to 5 years. Jack and Jill is a happy and caring nursery where children can flourish. By providing a positive environment with lots of engaging activities, Jack and Jill ensures that every child is happy, confident and bursting with enthusiasm; ready to take on the challenges of school life and a whole new world of learning.

Jack and Jill is located in the centre of Corfe Mullen village, just 1 mile from Broadstone and 3 miles from Wimborne and Upton. There is a carpark for drop-off and collection. The nursery was recently refurbished and is light, bright and spacious. The nursery has dedicated rooms for babies, toddlers and pre-school children.

Outdoor play and learning are particularly important at Jack and Jill and the children go outside as much as possible, whatever the weather! There are 2 gardens, playgrounds and all the children have free flow access outdoors. Both gardens offer a fantastic range of activities including digging and planting, mud kitchen, water station, sand pits, story corner, and lots of physical activities to help with their co-ordination and development such as balancing beams, trikes and ball games.

The Nursery also has a pet guinea pig (Pickles) to teach the children about caring for animals.

SEN is extremely important at Jack and Jill and the staff and SENCO are highly trained in recognising and supporting many different emerging needs. Each child is treated as an individual and will have a personal plan ensuring their unique needs are being met and allowing them to develop at their own pace.

The staff at Jack and Jill are caring, passionate and well-qualified (including paediatric first aid for all staff members). They'd love to invite you to come and look around!

    Our FULL-TIME rate for non-funded children is £6.85 per hour (minimum 4 full-days per week).
    Our FULL-DAY rate for non-funded children is £7.30 per hour.
    All other sessions are charged at £7.90 per hour.
    A consumables charge applies to funded hours.

Our son has attended Jack and Jill Day Nursery since her was 8.5 months old. The staff are friendly and supportive and will respond quickly to any concerns or worries. Safeguarding is taken seriously, and management is very involved with the day-to-day running of the nursery. Children seem happy and
supported emotionally. They also do a lot of fun and creative activities. Jack and Jill also support community projects such as the local food bank. I am very happy with the care this nursery has shown my son. They seem genuinely interested in his development and happiness, and I would therefore highly recommend them.

I am so happy to have chosen Jack and Jill Day Nursery for my son. He has been going since July 2020. Very anxious at the time of how he would feel about being left at the nursery and how well he would settle in, but the staff have been amazing at settling my son into the nursery.
Every time he goes
to nursery he’s always excited to go. His speech has improved amazingly since going to this nursery.
They are always doing fun things with him and he’s always happy when he leaves nursery.

We moved our son to Jack and Jill Day Nursery in June 2020. He settled into the nursery ever so quickly and since moving there, he’s been so excited to go in every day. He has formed a good group of friends which he talks about regularly and he always talks about his days so positively.
From day one
we have been so impressed with every single member of the team and cannot thank them enough for making our lives so much easier.

My son has attended Jack and Jill nursery for just over 2 years and he absolutely loves it there. He knows and loves all of the staff and has made lots of friends. He enjoys going in every day and I feel very confident with everything that the staff have done to make the setting safe, in relation to
Covid-19. I have seen my son grow and develop in many ways since attending Jack and Jill's and it has set him up well for starting school in September. We will miss everyone a lot when the time comes to leave. I would highly recommend this setting for your child.

My daughter has been attending Jack and Jill’s since September and we have been so impressed. She had previously been attending another setting at which she knew no other children’s names. Within a few weeks of attending Jack and Jill’s, she had made genuine friends and really came out of her shell.
She absolutely loves going to playschool and is so excited to share all the activities she has done when we collect her. She also loves the teachers too.

I would thoroughly recommend Jack and Jill Day Nursery. My little boy really enjoyed his time there. The staff were warm, friendly and approachable and were always willing to help. Being an active boy, my son loved the large outside play area, especially the bikes, mud kitchen and sandpit. The staff
really took an interest in the things he enjoyed and nurtured them, adapting activities to get the best out of him. I feel that he progressed really well during his time there both academically and socially and was totally ready for school when he started this September. He has some lovely memories. Thank you.

Lovely staff who know my son very well and all his likes, dislikes, friendship groups etc. Sounds simple but other preschools I have used haven’t been able to really answer the simplest questions about how he has settled in. Lots of messy outdoor play which my son loves and a clean, warm environment
with lots of facilities. Would recommend to anyone!

My daughter has had the most wonderful journey at Jack and Jill, she will be very sad to leave. All the staff are amazing they have helped her grow and develop into a confident person. I have started with Jack and Jill Nursery part-time last year in April as I had concerns my boy doesn't learn enough at the childminder and not enough children his age to socialise/integrate and to be ready for school for September last year.
After a month I was so pleased with the outcome at Jack
and Jill that he went on full time and his 2-year-old sister shortly followed too.
He was so happy to go back to the nursery and wouldn't want to go back to the childminder.
I am a single parent working full time and for me, it is important my children are happy and well looked after when I am not there. I cannot thank enough to all management and staff which has supported, cared and understand not just my children but me also.
My boy school transition went really well and he is always happy to go back to nursery if he can.
My daughter, she is 3 and a half now and I am amazed how far she has come and I am sure she will miss it dearly when she moves to school next year.

This nursery has been the most amazing place for both my boys. The staff are fantastic and caring and super efficient at what they do. My boys both had key workers who can give me an accurate account of what they have been up to during their day at nursery and gives me complete peace of mind knowing

Highly recommend Jack and Jill. My son was a little reluctant at first as he had always been with me so took a little while to settle, the staff were very patient and caring, everyone seemed to know him really quickly and used his interests to help him separate from me. He has now been there over a
year and has formed great relationships with the staff (who really know him) and made friends. He’s more than ready for school in September and has made some lovely memories including being a little mouse on the carnival float. The setting is lovely, great space, lovely resources and really lovely outdoor areas. I loved it as soon as I looked around and my view hasn’t changed. Will be sad to move on.

Can not rate this nursery highly enough. All the staff are lovely and my son (3) has been going there 4 days a week for over a year now and he absolutely loves it. The staff have also been really supportive with his speech development and getting me some additional support and advice. The indoors is
a large, well-organised space. The outdoor area is lovely big size with good shade covering and plenty of things for the children to play on.

My two and a half year old daughter has been at Jack and Jill’s for three months now. She absolutely loves it! She cannot wait to go in the mornings and chats about all of her new friends and everything she has done when she gets home. She has learnt so much already through lots of play and having fun.
She can be quite shy at times, but can really be herself at Jack and Jill’s. The staff are great and really nurturing and caring. They take things at the children’s pace. My daughter loves bringing pictures back to show us and singing all of the songs she has learnt. Her confidence has grown massively in the short time she’s been there.

Absolutely love this nursery!
My son has made loads of progress whilst being here and he absolutely loves being here with the staff.
He loves playing outside in the mud kitchen and 9 times out of 10 when I pick him up, he has had a change of outfit due to getting himself soaked in the garden but he
has really enjoyed himself doing it too.
The staff here are amazing the nursery is always clean, welcoming and very friendly. If I didn't have to work, I would rather spend my days here as they have so much fun while learning, I may even learn a few things myself.
I would like the take this opportunity to say thank you to all the staff for putting up with my wee one since last year. I'm confident, thanks to you guys, that he will be ready for big school in September. I know he and I will miss you all greatly.

This nursery is fantastic. There is such a bright, airy feel to the space and the children are all really happy. All of my children have attended this preschool and have all been very happy here - they have all also been well prepared for school life. My son currently loves to play outside in their
mud kitchen, but he equally likes to take part in their creative play.
I feel that I am part of the preschool, too, as they always inform me of what he has been doing during the day. They have recently started some really lovely activities for parents to get to know each other too - an early breakfast once and I think they are planning an evening 'bedtime story'.
It is a wonderful nursery that has retained an intimate 'homely' atmosphere. The staff are professional and highly experienced - each lending a different skill to the team.
I feel that this preschool understands what is important to a child, and what is important to a parent - and manages to keep both happy!!!!!

Meet the Team (8)

Anne-Marie

Anne-Marie Carter

Job Title: Manager

Joined: 1998

Anne-Marie started at Jack and Jill Preschool in 1998 and took over as manager in 2005. She has done extensive training during her years at Jack and Jill Day Nursery gaining her level 3 and then continuing on to get her Foundation degree in Early Years Education, her BA(Hons) degree in Early Years Care and Education and then continuing on to Early Years Professional Status. Anne-Marie left a long career in Electrical Engineering to come and heat up Hot Cross Buns one day with her children and has been here ever since!


Anne-Marie is committed to providing quality care and education to all children and is valued by staff, children and parents. She has also completed a Level 2 Mental Health First Aider course, to support the well-being of the practitioners and the mental health of the setting.


Outside work Anne-Marie likes to travel, read, go walking and meet up with friends and family.


Sally

Sally Jameson

Job Title: Deputy Manager

Joined: 2006

Sally started at Jack and Jill Preschool in 2006, shortly after her second child started at the nursery. Sally had previously worked in hotels and as a chef when she had decided the time was right to have a big change!


She loved working with the children and became interested in helping children with more complex needs, deciding to do lots of training around Special Educational Needs and eventually took over as the Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator for the setting.


Sally took over as the Deputy Manager in 2015 and continues to champion children with Special Educational Needs becoming Dorset Inclusion Champion in 2018.


In her spare time, Sally enjoys Driving, Reading, walking and being with her family.


Candice

Candice Miller

Job Title: Nursery Assistant (Ducklings Practitioner)

Joined: 2018

Candice Miller has been working at Jack and Jill Nursery since January 2018, she completed her level 2 qualification with us in that year and currently works in our baby room.


After a lot of hard work, Candice successfully completed her Level 3 qualification in 2021.

Victoria Wainwright

Job Title: Hedgehogs Room Leader

Joined: 2017

Victoria has been working for Jack and Jill Nursery for 7 years. She was the first apprentice that Jack
and Jill employed back in 2017. She is currently the Room Leader in the preschool room.


Victoria is currently studying for her Level 5 to become a Senior Early Years Practitioner.

Sarah

Sarah Paterson

Job Title: Nursery Assistant (Hedgehogs Practitioner)

Joined: 2017

Sarah Paterson has been working at Jack and Jill Nursery since 2017, prior to this she worked in a local school as a Primary Teacher. Sarah currently works with the children in the preschool room. Sarah is also our Maths Champion, she ensures that maths: numbers, shapes and measurements are celebrated throughout the nursery.


This may be through activities or ensuring that maths is used in the environment in general.


She is married with three children who attended Jack and Jill’s and when she is not working she enjoys spending time with them, reading books and walking with her dog.


Lauren

Lauren Young

Job Title: Nursery Assistant (Hedgehogs Practitioner)

Joined: 2018

Lauren Young has been working at Jack and Jill Nursery for five years. She is a Level 2 practitioner, currently working towards completing her Level 3 qualification. Lauren enjoys the creative side of her job, she is looking at the environmental impact of the nursery and how we can reduce our use of single-use plastics.

Job Title: Ducklings Room Leader

Joined: 2019

Beth Jameson has been working at Jack and Jill Nursery since 2019. Although it feels longer she spent many staff training days here when she was younger, reading to the children and drawing pictures for them.


Beth has just completed her Level 3 Diploma for the Early Years Workforce (Early Years Educator) and is the Ducklings room leader.


In her spare time, Beth enjoys spending time with her friends and family. She has recently been enjoying a variety of sports including badminton and golf.

Job Title: Nursery Assistant (Hedgehogs Practitioner)

Joined: 2020

Beth Hand has been working at Jack and Jill Nursery since October 2020, she completed her Level 3 Apprenticeship with the nursery in March 2022.


She is currently working in the Hedgehogs room supporting the older children, but she has worked with each age group as part of her apprenticeship.


When she is not at work Beth loves to spend time with family and friends and travel to new places. Before joining Jack and Jill Nursery, she spent time in South-East Asia and Australia. In addition, she enjoys all Water Sports such as paddle boarding
