Rated Outstanding by Ofsted (September 2021), Pembury Nursery & Pre-School provides childcare and education to children from birth to 5 years old.

The Nursery is in Lower Clapton, close to Hackney Downs and Hackney Central stations. It's a light and roomy nursery with two gardens – one for under 2s, and one for pre-schoolers.

The Nursery has great links to the wider community and many staff live locally. There are lots of activities to try… learning Spanish, cooking, construction, growing fruit and veg, and more! The children love to get out and about too, enjoying outings to the local shops and library. Families can also join in the fun with regular ‘Stay and Play’ sessions.

A dedicated chef provides all meals using recipes from LEYF’s menu.

I love Pembury Nursery for my daughter, they have been very warm, welcoming, understanding and encouraging in anything that my daughter may need. They take their time to help her reach goals and targets and she has improved her eating, social interactions, speech and day-to-day duties by being at the
Pembury Nursery and having one-on-one time to help her achieve her milestones. Just seeing her transition has made me have positive faith that the nursery has great teachers and is also a great setting to be in.

My son has recently joined the nursery and l must say that he has settled in really well with the help from the staff. The staff are outstanding and approachable. My son is always happy and looking forward to the next day at the nursery as there are loads of different activities provided and not to
forget that they are well organised therefore would highly recommend.

Very friendly, fun and welcoming place with lovely people. Staff always make time to tell us about our daughter's day. Our daughter's confidence and speech has developed really well since she joined and we always feel confident she eats really well here.

Wonderfully nurturing nursery that treats every child as an individual, with very well-trained staff. The place is full of joy and I trust them 100%.


I feel that not only my child but my whole family is loved and welcome there and I’d recommend the place to anyone.

I couldn’t wish for a more lovely nursey for my son! It was a last-minute decision to come to Pembury Nursery but as soon as I walked in you could feel the care that each of the babies and children receive and the consideration that goes into making each day fun, relaxing, and engaging.

Brilliant staff and lovely community of parents and kids. Our son is well cared for and looked after at Pembury and is really happy there. We’d recommend it to other parents who were after a safe, fun and inclusive environment.

Wonderful nursery. My son has been there for nearly a year in both the baby and toddler room. The team are great. Warm, enthusiastic, caring and engaged - everything you would want. There are creative activities every day, great food and fun trips. Couldn’t recommend it more highly.

I'm really impressed by the work done by Pembury's staff. They are caring and warm. They're there when it's needed but they are also teaching them to become more independent. They organise and rotate activities so the children keep discovering and learning. Every day, my son comes home with new words
he has learned, new stories he has heard, new topics he has discovered. The nursery also has an outdoor area, which is widely used when weather permits. My son has been at the nursery since he was four months old and it's like his second home.

My daughter is flourishing at the Pembury Community Nursery. She has come on leaps and bounds and has grown hugely in confidence since joining the baby room. The staff are so kind and nurturing and we couldn't be happier with our choice of childcare. It is truly a home away from home!

Nursery is satisfactory. Staff is friendly but changes very often. Room with toddlers and preschoolers is busy and garden fairly small. Clothes tend to go missing regularly. Management of the nursery is friendly. Value for money not so much but nurseries are expensive in London. Nursery could do more
trips with kids. Cleanliness is ok but the nursery has gone through a number of outbreaks of disease which I guess is not uncommon. At the end of the day my son seems happy there.

A really lovely nursery. The staff are warm, caring and loving, every child is treated as an individual and the atmosphere is happy and calm. There have been lots of efforts recently to increase the range of activities offered to the children, go on more trips and provide more toys and resources which
the children have enjoyed.
Last year was quite unsettling for my daughter because of the staff shortages, lots of changing agency staff and changes in management but I'm pleased to say that these challenges seem to have been overcome and it all seems to have stabilised now. Thank you to all the amazing staff for looking after my daughter so well.

My daughter transferred from another nursery to Pembury Nursey and am extremely happy with the move as it is can be difficult with change at such a young age however the transition was really good. Lots of communication with Pembury with how my daughter was settling in and now she is so happy and can't
wait to attend Pembury nursery every day even on her off day. Happy child, happy parent. All the staff members and management team have a passion for their work, are nurturing and supportive of the children's individual needs. Big thank you to the new manager for stepping up after another the old manager left. Would recommend Pembury nursery to family and friends.

I like the space of this nursery that allows kids to get in and out of the garden and engage in several play areas, as they wish. Also happy that the meals are cooked on the premises in a fully equipped kitchen. The management and other staff have been extremely caring, conscious and generous. They
have supported our 2-year-old after returning to the nursery, post-recovery from a serious illness, with unexpected sensitivity and care and we are grateful to them.
After re-settling in, our son seems happy and engaged with all the activities taking place around him. We always find him engaged in some task and there is limited, or no screen time but a lot of messy play, which we like a lot.

I have one son in each room and would recommend the nursery to anyone. The staff are warm, welcoming and switched on. The manager is fantastic, any concerns I’ve raised with her have been addressed. The nursery workers seem happy which creates a calm, nurturing atmosphere for the kids (this was a problem
at our last nursery). Both boys love being there and I have peace of mind that they’re being well looked after.

My son has been attending Pembury Community Nursery for just over two years. He loves going to nursery and I have been consistently impressed with the level of care and attention that he receives from the staff. The staff are warm and genuinely caring and I know I can go to work without any worries
about whether my son is being well looked after. The space is great – the garden is large and well away from any roads – and the activities that the staff arrange every day are fun and engaging. I'm really impressed with how much my son has learnt in his time at the nursery. The food is very good and I particularly like the fact that the children are encouraged to experiment with cooking themselves. All in all, a really lovely, caring environment. Highly recommended.

Pembury Nursery is a great place. Wonderful staff and leadership. My daughter is happy there. She has developed well and has a wonderful group of friends. I am pleased I chose this nursery. I would really recommend it to other parents.

Both my children go to Pembury full time, one in the preschool and the other in the baby room. We can work full time without feeling guilty or worried as we know that the children love being at Pembury. The staff are kind, caring and loving. Children have fun and are exposed to lots of activities throughout
