A SPACIOUS AND INSPIRING NURSERY IN BARNES

You and your child will love Barnes Day Nursery and Preschool, designed to support your child’s development from the age of 3 months to 5 years. The experienced and nurturing staff guide exciting learning activities to help your little one reach their full potential.

The purpose-built nursery rooms feature age-appropriate play and learning resources. The baby room has plenty of engaging sensory toys, a safe environment for exploring, and benefits from a separate sleep room, milk kitchen and nappy-changing room. The toddler room is full of new adventures, where children find their feet and begin building their independence. Painting, loose parts play, construction and messy play are all on the agenda as they learn how to navigate the world.

Preschoolers enjoy discovering new passions and interests as they gain the skills needed to progress to school. The Ready for School programme helps to develop their early maths and literacy skills, while encouraging them to pursue their creative side through Creative Cooks, Growing Artists and Growing Gardeners.

Barnes nursery has a small library area, which doubles as a quiet space to enjoy a book and, at other times, a music room to explore sound and rhythm with instruments.
Outside, they have two large gardens, split into a baby garden and a toddler and preschool space. There are trees, a covered seating area, a little bridge and space for tricycles and balance toys.

The Nursery offers all-inclusive fees, with all meals, snacks, nappies and wipes included – meaning you’ve got less to pack on a busy morning! All of the delicious food is freshly cooked every day by their own onsite chef.

Honestly, I can't rave enough about how helpful and amazing this nursery is.
The staff are competent, friendly, helpful, engaging with the kids, extremely caring with my son, the admin is great, so efficient. I really have not found an area that needs improvement.
I feel confident in leaving my son
at the nursery knowing he will be well looked after for the day.
I couldn't ask for a better nursery.
Well worth every penny!

Every time I drop my son off, he always runs in with a big smile on his face which is a good sign!
I always get daily updates on how my son is doing and what activities he did throughout the day and I also get a detailed update when I collect him too.
I would highly recommend this nursery, the staff

The management and team from the last year or so have done a great job in turning Bright Horizons Barnes Day Nursery and Preschool into a well-run ship! Staff turnover has decreased and all the staff there are just wonderful. They've started putting more effort into learning activities for the children
across all areas from yoga, literature, gardening and science. As well as family activities where parents get to come in and visit for Halloween and Christmas. The staff are very warm and caring and show interest in the children's development. The chef is great and prepares meals that my little one talks about all the time. Overall, we are very happy with Bright Horizons and the team should be very proud of what they have built for the little ones.

Our little boy started at his first nursery (aged 12 months) this summer. Like most parents, we were nervous but the nursery had many 'stay and play' and settling-in days. We were drawn to the fact that the baby room was large and light, with a good ratio of staff. The team have been so welcoming to
us and our little one. They provide many different activities to keep learning and play varied - and we loved that there is an outdoor space. It's early days but we're so pleased we chose this nursery. He is cared for, entertained and kept safe by a warm and capable team. Would definitely recommend!

Bright Horizons Barnes Day Nursery and Preschool really put my mind at ease when leaving my 1-year-old at school. I receive daily photos of my boy, along with explanations on what the children are learning and the fun they are having. Last week the children learnt about "modes of transport". The children
sang 'The wheels on the bus', they learnt actions, they painted buses and made wheels turn in the sandpit.
The daily app also shows what the children have eaten - these are nutritionally based diets and the school recently won an award for "quality and cooking with heart". A fantastic achievement.
The biggest thing for me though is the fact that my son loves going to this nursery and he is always excited to see his teachers and to learn new things.
Thank you Bright Horizons Barnes for aiding my son's confidence as he grows into a toddler.

Our son has been attending Bright Horizons Barnes Day Nursery and Preschool for eighteen months, since April 2023. He started out with a friendly and energetic team in the toddler room and currently loves his days in the preschool room. This has been our first nursery experience as parents and it has
been such a positive one. The continuity of the staff has been excellent, as has their communication and care towards our son. The nursery has great staff that cares about children and helps them reach milestones at each level (baby/ toddler/ preschool).

Both our boys go to Bright Horizons Barnes Day Nursery and Preschool. We couldn't be happier. The staff are all fantastic and are thoroughly invested in each child's development and needs. Our eldest started when he was 18 months old. He instantly made great connections with his "teachers" and now he
is 3 and has made strong friendships. Our youngest joined at just 4 months old - now 6 months, he goes in every day with a smile and an eager happy wriggle! We are so comforted knowing each boy has made true connections to their key workers and enjoys themselves every day.

You can see and feel how much the team at Barnes Bright Horizons cares about the little ones. They’ve always made sure to adapt to my little one’s individual needs as much as possible and I will be forever thankful for the flexibility, dedication, and loving care the team offers.
The communication
with parents is also top-notch. I get plenty of updates about my little one’s activities each day which kind of still lets me be part although I cannot be there physically. The management team also makes sure to keep us parents in the loop with any updates at least once a week. Long story short I cannot recommend the team at Bright Horizons Barnes enough as the team’s dedication and love for the job is second to none.

I cannot speak more highly of the staff at Bright Horizons, Barnes Day Nursery and Preschool. From the very first day that we dropped our son off, I have felt that his needs (and mine!) were listened to and more importantly actioned, and respected. As the mother of a ‘covid baby’, I was anxious to leave
him in the beginning, but the staff made us feel confident and comfortable that he was in safe hands and he was and has been ever since. They go above and beyond for all the children and I am blown away daily at his development, the ease with which he has made friends and his genuine love for his teachers. I am also impressed with the variety of activities the children are given and I love that I can track everything on the app! I cannot recommend Bright Horizons, Barnes Day Nursery and Preschool enough.

I couldn’t recommend Bright Horizons Barnes Day Nursery and Preschool more! My little boy was 7 months when he started. I was anxious leaving him and the staff did their utmost to make sure the transition was kind, caring, and comfortable. I walked away feeling super confident they had my child’s best
interests at heart. They will always go the extra mile, they spend that extra bit of time to make sure me and my son are ok. I also love the app, and there are updates and pictures throughout the day that I can always look in on. He is always full of personality when I pick him up, he loves it.

Our daughter goes to this nursery and we are very happy with it! Staff were very supportive during potty training which we found very helpful and they, overall, always do their best to meet our needs/expectations as parents as well as our daughter’s. My Name is Marie, I have been working at Bright Horizons for over 13 years and I am the Nursery Manager at Bright Horizons Barnes Day Nursery and Preschool.


During this time I obtained my CACHE Level 3 Diploma Certificate for the Children and Young People’s Workforce.


I began my childcare journey working as a nursery assistant and throughout the years I have progressed through the roles of Nursery Nurse, Room Leader, Third in Charge, Deputy Manager and I am now a Nursery Manager.


This has allowed me to obtain a wealth of knowledge and experience during these roles so that I can support staff in providing inclusive play and learning opportunities for all children attending the nursery and maintain a stimulating and enjoyable environment to ensure every child has the best possible start in their educational life.

Hello, I am Aoife, the Third in Charge.


I have had a passion for early years for many years, but this was deepened during my BA Hons in Early Childhood Education.


As a Playworker for children with SEND, I applied research skills and decided to pursue an MA in Inclusive Education: SEND and Disability.


Simultaneously, I worked across nurseries, supporting children's growth. Witnessing milestones became a keen interest, leading me to become the Toddler Room Leader at Barnes Day Nursery. Building on this experience, I advanced to Third in Charge, where I provided support to both the Baby and Toddler rooms. This journey has allowed me to deepen my understanding and actively contribute to the well-rounded development of the nursery.
