A SPACIOUS AND INSPIRING NURSERY IN BARNES

You and your child will love Barnes Day Nursery and Preschool, designed to support your child’s development from the age of 3 months to 5 years. The experienced and nurturing staff guide exciting learning activities to help your little one reach their full potential.

The purpose-built nursery rooms feature age-appropriate play and learning resources. The baby room has plenty of engaging sensory toys, a safe environment for exploring, and benefits from a separate sleep room, milk kitchen and nappy-changing room. The toddler room is full of new adventures, where children find their feet and begin building their independence. Painting, loose parts play, construction and messy play are all on the agenda as they learn how to navigate the world.

Preschoolers enjoy discovering new passions and interests as they gain the skills needed to progress to school. The Ready for School programme helps to develop their early maths and literacy skills, while encouraging them to pursue their creative side through Creative Cooks, Growing Artists and Growing Gardeners.

Barnes nursery has a small library area, which doubles as a quiet space to enjoy a book and, at other times, a music room to explore sound and rhythm with instruments.
Outside, they have two large gardens, split into a baby garden and a toddler and preschool space. There are trees, a covered seating area, a little bridge and space for tricycles and balance toys.

The Nursery offers all-inclusive fees, with all meals, snacks, nappies and wipes included – meaning you’ve got less to pack on a busy morning! All of the delicious food is freshly cooked every day by their own onsite chef.

This is a fantastic nursery designed in the way a nursery should be, with children in mind.


The staff are extremely nice and caring and the senior manager is a very experienced and a very professional head.


I would recommend any parent to send their child there.

My brother has been with Bright Horizons for two years, he has autism and my family and I don't think we could have found any more support than at Bright Horizons.
The staff team are all very professional and worked very hard with my brother, they supported us both emotionally and with him. He improved
very much and we can't explain the level of care we received and we are sad that he's going to school, they all love their job as well as the children. A big and special thanks to the manager for supporting us with everything we needed. You have the most caring and special manager.

My child seems to have settled in well and has learnt from the other children i.e. more confident in walking etc. She appears to be very relaxed with her carers and enjoys the sessions each week. We are pleased there are arts and crafts, painting, activities (messy play). The more the better! Thank

I am delighted to have my son attend Barnes Bright Horizons. He is a super happy child and loves being at nursery. I have noticed an increase in his social awareness and his speech is coming on very well along with his confidence. I am pleased that my son has such a balanced and fun format to his days
with interesting learning and interactive play. He seems to know a lot about health and safety and always shouts "fine fine" and "hot" at anything potentially hazardous. Would highly recommend this nursery, the staff are fantastic.

Being a relatively new nursery, my son, who has been attending since January, enjoys the diverse range of toys and activities offered. However, I was a little concerned by some staff changes early on, as well as inconsistencies regarding certain activities such as sports, provided by external companies.
Many of these concerns have now been addressed and I have definitely noticed that my son is benefitting from the continuity. I would like to see more use of some of the amenities available, such as the kitchen and library, and an increased focus on how best to continue certain development objectives at home.

My small grandson (age 3) attends this preschool full time. During this time he has made good progress on all fronts. He is clearly stimulated but has the freedom to develop naturally. The staff are kind, caring, firm and professional. There is an emphasis on the individual and staff work closely with
other carers who are updated via daily written reports. I write as I am delighted that my grandson is very happy here but I am a very experienced educational practitioner too. This nursery is well worth considering.

My son joined the nursery shortly after his baby sister was born. He struggled to settle but the focus and energy the staff put into ensuring he felt welcome and secure, soon enabled him to settle. They took time to understand and get to know my son and responded to him accordingly. He has enjoyed a
variety of activities and learnt how to be more responsive and respectful to others. He is now moving to a pre-school but will miss the carers here due to the strong bond he has formed. Thank you.

My 14-month-old has been at Bright Horizons Barnes for 9 months - since it first opened. He loves it and enthusiastically waves his arms every morning when he arrives. He is making great progress and hitting all his milestones. The facilities are far superior to many other local nurseries. The staff
are so warm and friendly. My son is really attached to his key worker which definitely eases working mummy guilt!

Excellent facilities - everything is brand new and top-spec and it's in a beautiful building. The garden is amazing and each room decorated and arranged differently with great furniture, toys and art and learning displays. They do great activities - even for babies they have had people come in and do
puppet shows. We have had valentine's hearts, christmas cards and other art come home with us. The staff are so friendly, professional and caring and go over and above to show care and attention to the children. There is constant feedback about the child's development and progress. My daughter is really happy and so am I. She has learned so many new things at nursery and I can see the benefits of her being there. As a first-time mum returning to work, everything about this nursery allayed my fears. Healthy nutritious meals are made on-site and the kids eat really well. It is safe and secure. The location is extremely convenient and the hours are amazing for working parents.

My son has been attending since Nov 2015 and has loved every day so far! He literally runs into the class every day and doesn't want to leave at the end. The staff are extremely warm, kind and fun and its evident my son is very comfortable with them. The fact that the Nursery's manager's own son attends
the facility really says it all. The facility itself is of the highest standard, basically brand new and they have thought of everything. Small details like 3 types of sinks - all with different taps (twist, lift and sensor) that they children will meet in real life make this place stand out to me. The kids also have their own fully kitted-out mini kitchen with all mini appliances for them to learn to cook while using the ingredients from the garden they have planted themselves. The outdoor area is state of the art. There are many other aspects I could rave about but a parent must visit the nursery to get the full effect for themselves. Lastly, the safety of the facility is fantastic.

This nursery is absolutely outstanding.
Top quality staff, top quality nursery and care.
I cannot fault this place in anyway, wonderful menu for my kids, lots of activities to do.
I couldn't imagine leaving my kids anywhere else.
After seeing many other nurseries as soon as I came here I knew it
was the best decision I've made and it's worth every penny.

My Name is Marie, I have been working at Bright Horizons for over 13 years and I am the Nursery Manager at Bright Horizons Barnes Day Nursery and Preschool.


During this time I obtained my CACHE Level 3 Diploma Certificate for the Children and Young People’s Workforce.


I began my childcare journey working as a nursery assistant and throughout the years I have progressed through the roles of Nursery Nurse, Room Leader, Third in Charge, Deputy Manager and I am now a Nursery Manager.


This has allowed me to obtain a wealth of knowledge and experience during these roles so that I can support staff in providing inclusive play and learning opportunities for all children attending the nursery and maintain a stimulating and enjoyable environment to ensure every child has the best possible start in their educational life.

Hello, I'm Daniella, the Deputy Manager at Barnes Bright Horizons since September 2023. With over 13 years in childcare, I started as an apprentice and later qualified as a level 3 practitioner. After spending 4 years at a nursery, I advanced to a management role in a larger company in Lincoln, gaining over 4 years of managerial experience.


My expertise includes working with SEND children, and I'm passionate about development. Now, at Bright Horizons, I've taken on the role of SENCO lead alongside my third in charge. Witnessing the growth of both children and staff has been a rewarding part of my journey.


Having recently moved to London, I'm thrilled to contribute to the Barnes team. Excited for the future, I look forward to continuing my journey at Bright Horizons.

Hello, I am Aoife, the Third in Charge.


I have had a passion for early years for many years, but this was deepened during my BA Hons in Early Childhood Education.


As a Playworker for children with SEND, I applied research skills and decided to pursue an MA in Inclusive Education: SEND and Disability.


Simultaneously, I worked across nurseries, supporting children's growth. Witnessing milestones became a keen interest, leading me to become the Toddler Room Leader at Barnes Day Nursery. Building on this experience, I advanced to Third in Charge, where I provided support to both the Baby and Toddler rooms. This journey has allowed me to deepen my understanding and actively contribute to the well-rounded development of the nursery.
