Monkey Puzzle Irthlingborough employs high-quality staff and offers the benefits of a high staff to child ratio so that children can get the most out of their time at the facility.

The nursery has a selection of rooms tailored to the different age ranges, reflecting the seven key areas of learning outlined by the EYFS.

All staff are trained in first aid and food hygiene and offer a versatile range of sessions for parent's requirements. Daily menus are selected to support growth and nutrition.

Within a bright and spacious environment, all meals and snacks are prepared onsite, with branded nappies, wipes and creams all included in the price. There is a large outdoor play area with excellent play equipment, convenient parking and fees are inclusive of freshly prepared breakfast, lunch, tea, snacks and drinks.

They also have a holiday and before/after school room and are able to drop-off and pick-up from local schools in the area.

Amazing nursery!
My son loves it there, he made amazing progress and we are so happy to see how he is excited to go there every day. The team is fantastic and very helpful.

The staff are always friendly and attentive. My child loves going to Monkey Puzzle, there is always messy play available and a focus on early learning. I love that I get updates on what they are up to each day and a log of what they have eaten/nappies etc. I also love how the staff make a big deal of
holidays - we always get arts and crafts sent home to celebrate events. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Monkey Puzzle to parents - it's great!

Disgraceful increase in funded fees of 40%. Appreciate costs are rising but the non-funded fees increase was 10%. Nursery feels like a business rather than family, otherwise, our little ones are happy there and well looked after.

I'm so sorry you feel this way about our fees. Our funded hours are completely free, but unfortunately in February our consumables charge had to increase in line with the massive price hikes we've all seen for gas/electric, food prices etc. We had to make the decision to increase by £6 a day. I'm so glad you feel your little ones are well looked after regardless of this increase.

Don't send your young baby to this Nursery.
It's a lot of kids (about 40-42) in one class and sometimes has just one person for all these kids. My daughter cries when arriving there. The teachers are not bad, but the security and behaviour of some kids are not good.
Kids stay most of the time alone,
due to the lack of staff at all times.
My daughter was bitten 3 times in this nursery by another kid. First was the arms, second was the leg and third on the face (which still has some marks after a few months).
Speaking with the director she told me my daughter didn't show anything when was bitten as crying or screaming and they thought was not so bad. Also said to me the best thing to do was look for another nursery for her. As she couldn't stay with other kids, even my daughter was the victim 3 times. Not recommended. Look for another place even paying more if you love your kids.

Monkey Puzzle is very friendly and understanding of your children's needs, they help as much as they can and out of all the nurseries, these are far the best. My children love attending, they always come home and have learned pleantly of new words and colours and many more things.

A lovely environment with lots of stimulation for the children. Thought out activities to promote learning and development as well as caring staff who both my children love. Both my boys have multiple allergies and they are able to cater for them easily, never leaving them out from the other children.

We had a rocky start finding a nursery but we alway say how lucky we got finding Monkey Puzzle. From the start they have been supportive our daughter has come on leaps and bounds since attending. The staff show a genuine love for their job which comes across with the activities and impact the staff
have on our daughter. The atmosphere in the nursery as a whole is positive and buzzing. Any worries we had have been completely squashed and we are happy to know she is going to be at a very good nursery until she starts school.

My daughter has been at Monkey Puzzle for over two years now and absolutely loves it. The staff are fantastic, keep me well informed and are fun and loving. My daughter has progressed extremely well in her development and is now a confident and outgoing young lady.
The setting is fab and the children
spend a lot of time outdoors exploring the play area and the huge field next to them.
Can’t recommend the staff and setting enough!

Very friendly staff. Both of my children love coming here and my eldest son can be hard to please! They have been nothing but supportive and helpful with my son's additional needs and I cannot express how grateful I am for that.

I cannot fault Monkey Puzzle in any way! The most caring and amazing staff work there who are always helpful. My little boy started a year ago, he was very shy and never said more than 3 words but in the past year both his confidence and his speech have come on incredibly and I put this down to the
hard work of the nursery. My little boy adores going and runs in every day with no issue! They keep everything updated and there’s never any trouble! 10/10 would recommend to anyone.

My wife and I are very pleased with Monkey Puzzle. Our son loves going and seems to be thriving. The staff are very friendly and we feel safe letting him go there. The app is a great feature, too. It’s nice to see what my child has gotten up to and to know that he has eaten throughout the morning. My
wife and I especially love it when we get sent photos of our son. We are very happy overall and recommend this nursery to anyone in the area.

Such a brilliant nursery, all staff are so helpful and great with the little ones. What can I say about this nursery other than wow? My little one has been there for three years now, she’s been helped so much to learn and grow she’s become a real Monkey Puzzle herself. The staff are amazing, always in hand when needed to talk to, always talked about my little one at the end of the
day. It’s like having an extended family. She leaves this year to go to big school, she’s going to miss every one of the staff as she loves them all. She’s come on leaps and bounds with their support and is very ready for big school as a result.

I have been working here at Monkey Puzzle Irthlingborough since just after we opened. I have over 19 years’ experience in Child Care and am Level 5 qualified. I also have 3 children of my own, so all my spare time is spent taking care of teenage boys!
This is the best Nursery I have ever had the pleasure of being a part of. The whole team care passionately about Early Years and providing the highest standards of care. We have recently been awarded the Ofsted grading of ‘Outstanding’, something which I am so proud of!

Michelle Mobey

Michelle Mobey Co-Owner and Principal


Michelle is a Qualified Teacher holding a Bachelor of Education (Hons), Qualified teaching status as well as a Master of Arts Degree specialising in Early Years Education. She has been working in education and childcare for over 15 years, as well as bringing up her two children, who attend/attended their settings.


When asked why she wanted to work with children, Michelle replied ” I have always wanted to be work with children. I love their energy, honesty and their total love of everything fun and exciting. I really enjoy sharing new ideas and experiences with them. My hope is that I can create a fun, exciting and caring learning environment. I have a lot of patience, enthusiasm, creativity and enjoy helping children (and adults) to discover new things. I want to create an environment that is exciting and fun for the children and my staff. As long as children are given, love, support and encouragement they will succeed. Job satisfaction was the most important factor in choosing a career, and working with children, I believe, is the ultimate choice.”


Since moving to the UK, from South Africa in 2007, Michelle has worked for the National Autistic Society as a teacher creating highly motivating, sensory, dynamic and visually based lessons. After having her first child she branched out into Childminding and received an Outstanding from Ofsted. Michelle has experience of working with children who have multiple barriers to their learning with a vast array of needs and abilities. She hopes to pass on this knowledge to her staff and will use her previous experience as a sound base for coaching and staff development.


Michelle is a good people manager, believing that open honesty, clarity and consideration go a long way in inspiring the best from people. She has a strong work ethos and is highly adaptable, motivated and incredibly enthusiastic.

Simon Mobey

Job Title: Co-owner, Maintenance and Facilities Manager

Joined: 2014

Simon is one of our owners, and is responsible for all things building, site and maintenance. He is a qualified electrician holding 17th Edition city & Guilds, CDM Construction Design Manager, British Safety Council Level 2 ‘Risk Assessment, Fire Warden, LGWSETA trade Test-Electrician (SA), National N3 Certificate (SA).


Simon has the amazing task of creating and building special requests for our team as well as building, upgrading and our fantastic Nursery. He works tirelessly in repairing, building and generally making our Amazing Nursery even more awesome.


In 2015 Michelle and Simon opened their first Nursery, Monkey Puzzle Irthlingborough. Michelle managed this until late 2016. In 2017 Michelle & Simon opened their second beautiful setting Monkey Puzzle Kettering. Following on from the success of these two amazing settings in, July 2018 Michelle and Simon took over ownership of Monkey Puzzle Bedford.
