Initially I wasn't impressed with the security of the nursery. When we first arrived for her first day the door was open and we were able to let ourselves straight into the nursery, with no-one to authorise our entry. This was a very big concern of me. I brought
I was also very concerned when after a few weeks at the nursery my daughter’s father went to collect her. I had forgot to tell the nursery that he would be coming. The staff in the baby room had not yet met him, but he was still able to go into the nursery to pick her up. I think that safeguarding MUST be a priority and as annoying as it may have been, the nursery should definitely have called me first to check that this was with my permission and that he was who he said who he was.
The staff are all very friendly. Particularly the baby room which is where my daughter is. I was left completely at ease by the staff looking after her. They are extremely loving and caring towards her and I very quickly noticed a fond relationship from my daughter towards the staff (now she doesn't even day bye to me). They are very honest, and I feel that I am able to trust them with my daughter's wellbeing, which for me is the most important thing.
Another concern for me however was the lack of soft furnishing in the baby room. The floor was hard and cold when she first started and definitely required soft carpet or something to make it cosier. I did raise this with the baby room manager and as a result I did noticed that a week or so later there was soft carpet put into the room.
Generally I am very happy with what I have seen so far; however I would like the nursery books to be completed in a lot more detail. As a parent you are keen to know exactly what your baby has been up to during the day. These books are meant to give you an insight, however unfortunately at the moment most of the sections are left blank.
The outside space if good, however they do bring the babies outside and put them on the floor which I am not comfortable with. Especially in the current weather. It is cold and the floor is most likely wet. There needs to be an area of the babies otherwise they need to re-think how they give the babies some fresh air. I would suggest a 6 seater pram for example. (Other nurseries I visited use this to take the children out). But putting them on the floor is not an option for me.
I find it difficult to comment on my daughter learning or activities because like I mentioned the books are not completed properly and I am not told what she has done all day unless I ask. It would be nice to know that there is some structure to her day.
Overall, I am most impressed by the care of the babies by the staff. They are the reason my daughter is still there and they are the reason I feel so comfortable leaving her. I know she is well looked after and they are the reason I feel so comfortable leaving her. I know she is well looked after and they are always giving me advice and tips on things to do. I think being a new nursery this branch still has a few things that is needs to improve on but nothing is unattainable.

The Review Score of 8.7 (8.749) out of 10 for Monkey Puzzle Day Nursery Catford is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.
a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 6 Reviews in the last 24 months.
b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.8 out of 5 from 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.
The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:
a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.
The Average Rating of 4.903 for Monkey Puzzle Day Nursery Catford is calculated as follows: ( (65 Excellents x 5) + (7 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 72 Ratings = 4.903
b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').
The 3.846 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Monkey Puzzle Day Nursery Catford is based on 6 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:
The 5 points available are broken down as follows:
i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 = 3.6
ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 122 number of registered child places is 24.4. 6 Positive Reviews ÷ 24.4 = 0.246
When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
