Chestnut Nursery Schools Ray Lodge is a great nursery situated a quiet area of Woodford Green. They have a number of childcare rooms that accommodate several different age groups, including a dedicated babies room. They also have a very large outdoor space offering children the chance to experience nature, and explore their forest school ethos. They have a large number of staff members, all highly qualified and enthusiastic about caring for wonderful children.

Our son (3) attends Chestnuts Nursery school, and our daughter (11m) is going to start in January. Our son has additional needs and communicates via sign language, as well as needing many therapies. This nursery is a brilliant mainstream nursery that is inclusive. They are excellent at both the practical
and paperwork/admin side of managing our son's needs. We communicate openly with them and trust them.
His keyworker (and SENCO) is caring as well as challenging to help our son learn. She has experience of ways of working with children with additional needs and lots of skills in the areas. Most importantly - she is genuinely passionate about her job and does it well.
Obviously, our experience relates to a child with additional needs, but we are going to be sending our daughter (who is neurotypical) to Chestnuts too soon. We love the way the classrooms are set up, with plenty of tabletop activities, messy play, outdoor play opportunities, and they also have a sensory room.

Chestnut Nursery has been a fantastic experience for both my daughters from end to end. Both joined at 12 months old and progressed onto school at four years old. This is a purpose-built childcare setting with two huge gardens and great facilities. Their activities are well planned and the staff show
a keen interest in all the children. Both my daughters were sad to leave but were well equipped to deal with their new primary school challenge!
I cannot recommend this nursery enough!

I have had two children attend Chestnut Nursery.
My older son left in September and was so well prepared for primary school with the support, help and assistance from the nursery.
He came on leaps and bounds whilst attending Chestnut and still talks about his key worker and staff with fond memories.
My
younger son has just returned back after the covid break, and after his first day back stated, “nursery is amazing, I love nursery” safe to say, Chestnut has managed his return perfectly and alleviated any worries I had about his return at this time.
I have always been incredibly happy with Chestnut and can see how they teach and look after my children in such a kind, caring and professional way.

My daughter has been attending this nursery since she has been two and she loves it. She has grown into a confident child and has made many friends. All members of staff are caring and pay attention to each child’s individual needs. I would highly recommend this nursery to every parent who wants to

Ray Lodge Chestnut is an excellent place for children. My daughter started at 6 months and stayed until she started school. She thrived and all the staff were brilliant. They supported her with her learning and supported her social skills. I loved the nursery so much that my younger baby, who is 8 months
old has now started as well. We love the nursery so so much.

My son has been at Chestnut for almost a year now and we are only leaving because we have moved areas. We are beyond happy with the way the staff delicately nurture the children and pay attention to their every need. My son has a lot of dietary requirements and the room staff have thoroughly supported
us through this. We have found the nursery a fantastic experience for our son who loves attending and has learnt copious amounts.
We can’t recommend this nursery enough and are extremely sad to be leaving.
The staff make this nursery a huge success and we wish them all the luck for the future.

Ray Lodge nursery is fantastic. My daughter loves it. She has been there since she was 1 and is now almost 3 and we've seen her develop so much. Great rapport with management, very professional and friendly. At each room, our daughter has had fantastic staff who have been caring and approachable.

Job Title: Nursery Manager

I have been working within childcare for most of my life, in many different roles. I have a CACHE level 3 and I have an Early Childhood Studies Degree. During my degree, I was able to expand my knowledge regarding child development and was given the opportunity to do voluntary work in children’s homes in India, which is where I completed my research for my dissertation. I have been with Chestnut Nursery School since 2015 and I have worked my way up to management. I feel these opportunities have provided me with hands-on, practical skills, as well as the theoretical side to be able to mentor and guide my team today.


I love working here at Chestnut Nursery School Ray Lodge; we have a diverse, happy, healthy and safe environment for children as well as the team, which enables us to provide the best possible start for children.
