This exciting forest nursery offers Great Childcare in the Great Outdoors! Little adventurers get to discover the natural world around them, as they balance, climb & explore!

The nursery is currently rated GOOD by OFSTED (Sep ‘21) & provides the full EYFS curriculum whilst surrounded by nature! Children are observed and assessed as they would be in an indoor nursery setting. There is a focus on fun, play based, child led care with children learning all about the natural world.

Little Forest Folk Wimbledon has the exclusive use of a 2 acre outdoor space in the heart of Wimbledon Common. Children enjoy climbing trees and slacklines, using the mud kitchen or running around the meadow. The site also benefits from a fire pit for Wild Cooking Fridays and a heated yurt for nap times! Other facilities on camp include a log circle for meal times, handwashing stations, and forest toilets/nappy change.

Children on a Full Day schedule head straight to the indoor space for a hearty breakfast. Once they are dressed in their waterproofs they hop on the minibus for the short drive to the Sessional meet point, where all children head off for an adventure walk into the forest! The children’s imaginations lead the day's activities as natural play prompts are created around little ones interests and ideas. Lunch and snacks are served in the forest. Sessional children leave after afternoon snack time & full day children head back for more play time, before enjoying a home cooked dinner in the indoor space.

Little Forest Folk adhere to a staff to child ratio of 1:4, to help uphold high standards of care, safety & education. This applies to all ages & at all stages of the day.

Our daughter is happy there. We initially weren't sure how she would get on with an outdoor environment, but the team in Wimbledon helped her settle down really well. We are pleased with the staff ratios in Little Forest Folk Wimbledon and their communications are brilliant. Highly recommended.

Our son attended Little Forest Folk Wimbledon for two years and started school this September. The care he received was outstanding and the play and learning he was exposed to had such a massive impact on his social skills, his independence and emotional intelligence. He is doing so well at school,
teachers comment on how kind and caring he is to other children as well as how sociable he is, and this has a lot to do with the Little Forest Folk. He has so many wonderful memories of sawing, playing with mud and worms and he made such a wonderful group of friends who we still meet up with. Thank you so much for your hard work and making his time with you so magical.

We have had such a great experience with this nursery. My daughter has been here for a year, continuing for another, and my son was here for a year before she joined.
Both loved the setting, the staff and the activities they do. Neither were bothered by the cold, in fact, they love icy days as they
enjoy the crunch on the ground and seeing ice.
They learn to enjoy self-directed play and imagination games. They adore being outside and are knowledgeable about nature (naming trees, plants and birds). They are also so much more physically able as tree climbing is a key activity and they do a lot of walking.
We were at another local nursery previously and this is better in every way.

Little Forest Folk Wimbledon is such a special place! The staff make base camp magical with lots of decorations, activities and obstacle courses. The team are brilliant especially the manager and staff member in Bunnies. They have so much energy and keep the children engaged all day. Our son has been
there for 1.5 years now and loves it, he comes home very happy each day.

There always feels like a lot of pressure to get decisions right that relate to your child's well-being, choosing a childcare setting is one such decision and I'm so grateful that sending our son to Little Forest Folk Wimbledon has left us with no doubt whatsoever that we've chosen the best place for
him. The staff are incredible; they are compassionate and caring but work hard to make sure the children get a great education through diverse, practical activities while ensuring a degree of discipline and independence in everything that is done. The food provided is top-tier and very healthy and the communication is excellent. I would highly recommend it.

Our son joined Little Forest Folk 1 year ago and we are very happy with the experience. The staff are caring and playful. My son really enjoyed the nursery and loves his Key Person very much. He truly builds resilient and independent characteristics from here. I like their unique natural environment,
mixed age and Child-led play very much. I highly recommend this place.

If you want your child to thrive then this is the setting for them. I honestly can't speak highly enough about Little Forest Folk Wimbledon.
The key staff turnover is low, the staff-to-child ratio couldn't be better, and the operations that make this all possible are second to none. The updates we
receive are informative and helpful and demonstrate that they really know my child and understand his needs and how to get the best out of him.
The managers and rest of the team are always available to answer any queries or offer their advice, not to mention they are absolutely brilliant with the little ones.
I truly believe that to choose to spend your time outside come rain or shine, you must really love what you do and be passionate about the little people you work with.
My child is absolutely living his best life and I feel the outdoor setting and everything else that Little Forest Folk has to offer is really setting him up for a brilliant future. Thank you all!

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.569)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.569) out of 10 for Little Forest Folk Wimbledon is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.869 for Little Forest Folk Wimbledon is calculated as follows: ( (75 Excellents x 5) + (7 Goods x 4) + (2 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 84 Ratings = 4.869

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.7 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Little Forest Folk Wimbledon is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 32 number of registered child places is 6.4, which has been reached with 7 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Carrie has been extremely fortunate to have been surrounded by nature for most of her life. She grew up on Georgian Bay in Ontario, Canada where she spent her free time climbing trees, swimming, and riding her bike.

Her family have always been avid campers and they still consider muddy clothes, skinned knees, and a big grin a sign of a good day out! She was involved in Girl Guiding and worked at a camp and outdoor centre in Algonquin Provincial Park for 15 years, where she discovered her love for outdoor education.

As a qualified teacher, she has taught in both traditional classrooms and informal education settings but has always found the most joy and fulfilment when working with others outdoors. Seeing children (and adults!) make new discoveries and become immersed in their surroundings always reminds her why the environment is so important for development and well-being. During free time Carrie can be found wandering the outdoors, reading in a sunbeam, playing volleyball, or working out how to keep parakeets from eating all the birdseed!
