My son thoroughly enjoyed his time in Little Elms. I could not have asked for a better start to his schooling! The Little Elms teacher and her support staff are an absolute delight - creating an engaging and stimulating environment for the boys to learn in. Each child is taken as an individual and helped
to grow in the most nurturing setting. Anytime I had questions or concerns they were quickly addressed and answered/dealt with. It was amazing to see my son so happy and excited to go to Little Elms in the mornings and then having so much to tell me at pick up time.
Thank you for helping my son grow in confidence, independence and make learning so much fun for him!

I'm so glad you feel this way, thank you for your wonderful and heartfelt review. Learning in a nurturing and stimulating environment is so important for us as a team, and a school. Being able to send the boys home with so much to say means we are doing something right! As a parent myself, I love it when I can share in my son's day too and experience all the fun and learning he has had, and by those conversations I know he is learning, growing and loving school!

My son absolutely loves Little Elms and it's not just the friends that he's made. He's confident when addressing adults and other boys within the school and I think this is, in part, due to the way the school is set up... It is almost as if the whole school is set up for new boys especially the youngest
ones. The activities within Little Elms are engaging, fun and informative. He's happy, smiling and talkative as they staff within Little Elms give him the time, encouragement and respect to enable his learning which is tailored for him. There is a range of activities organised for the boys including music, ICT, French and cooking. The latter might be his favourite! He has come home with a breadstick sparkler, pizza face, cheese sandwich. The Digital Learning Journey documents his learning - there are photographs, videos and text all linked to the EYFS, a great system. All staff are approachable and communication has been great. Little Elms is a super introduction to the education system.

I am the mother of a really bright boy and we were looking for a nursery that would meet his needs while keeping him well rounded and happy! Little Elms Nursery has been great in every way! He loves it there! Both teachers are kind, hands-on and passionate about the kid's development.

This nursery is amazing. From the quality of teachers, the care they give, the availability of wraparound care, and the manners and discipline instilled in the boys, but in a fun and creative atmosphere - it’s just the best money we’ve spent. My son loves going. He’s made lots of lovely friends. He
is so excited to go and do new things every day.

Since starting at Little Elms Nursery my son has developed so much in all areas: His confidence, his language, his thought processes.
He loves Elmhurst. They listen to his needs and fulfil them. Respect goes both ways, manners are a must and I love that.
He'll continue at Elmhurst as learning is
fun. The teachers love to teach and the kids learn by having a place where being a child and all that crazy imagination is encouraged.

Since my son joined the Little Elms Nursery there has been a great improvement in his activities. He has progressed beyond his year as described by his teachers and that has only come about as a result of the school he is attending. Improved speech, always wants to make his voice heard, tells me when
he is not happy with activities. All things he never did before. The staff are very friendly and welcoming all the time. They take the time to know each boy individually as they are all conscious learning is not the same in every child.

I would recommend Elmhurst to any parent.

Little Elms Nursery provides a very warm nurturing atmosphere for the boys to learn. The Staff are exceptional, the kids are very attached to them. My little one has tremendously improved in his communication, learning and confidence. The main key positives are:
Parents can know the activities planned
for the week on a notice board, which helps to work on the same at home.
Each week is well planned to provide a continued learning in phonics and numbers. Interactive storytelling each day helps the kids to develop the habit of book reading.
Kid's activities are logged every day as pictures/videos on an online digital learning book, parents .which is very helpful for busy parents.
I am very pleased and happy that I have chosen this place.Planning to send my younger one as well once he is ready.

Current Review Score: 8.8 (8.750)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.8 (8.750) out of 10 for Little Elms Nursery (part of Elmhurst School ) is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 2 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.8 out of 5 from 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

The Average Rating of 5.000 for Little Elms Nursery (part of Elmhurst School ) is calculated as follows: ( (24 Excellents x 5) ) ÷ 24 Ratings = 5

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.75 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Little Elms Nursery (part of Elmhurst School ) is based on 2 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 = 3.125

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 16 number of registered child places is 3.2. 2 Positive Reviews ÷ 3.2 = 0.625

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Little Elms Lead

Hi, my name is Mrs King and I am the Pre-Reception Lead here at Elmhurst School for Boys.

I absolutely adore my career and love being able to share in the boys love of learning. Supporting the boys learning with new ideas, structure and awe and wonder makes every day a fulfilled one.

I started in the childcare sector at 17 years old working my way up from Room Leader (after receiving my level 3 Qualification in Child care - CACHE) to a Deputy Director of a cluster of nurseries. Being able to support my staff team and help create a vision with the child at its heart was wonderful, but I missed working directly with the children with each day. I studied independently to gain my level 4 (Open University) hoping that this would give me insight into new ideas and theories about children and their learning. I passed in 2018 and although enjoyed the learning, I then decided to be more hands on and found myself at Elmhurst.

Having a son myself, I knew being with boys was going to be fun, energetic, and 'messy' and wow I was indeed correct. Every day is great and being supported with my own visions as well as working within the school, has been incredibly fulfilling.

I want to be able to offer learning where it's not only adult structured but with the ability to be guided by the boys themselves. This way they take their learning in their own hands and begin to form not only a love for it but also want to learn more, go further and push their own abilities. I feel we offer this in abundance and I am always so happy to hear great feedback from my wonderful parents. Communication is absolutely key in this industry!
