St Ives School Nursery is a fun and vibrant setting where playing is taken seriously!

Days are carefully planned to stimulate children’s social, physical and intellectual growth while maintaining a real sense of fun and enjoyment. Children enjoy full access to an outdoor play area as well as a range of facilities at the school such as the gym and extensive woodland area.

There are fun packed sessions every day with specialist activities including: Forest School, swimming, ballet, Little Linguists and Crafty Chefs.

All activities are included in the fees, there are no extra charges for special activities.

I had to move my son from another nursery because I was extremely unhappy with the level of care he was getting and he was not liking it. From the moment he started at The Ivies he has been really happy. The staff are excellent with years of experience. He always comes home clean and well fed!

My son attends St Ives, and I couldn't speak more highly of it. My son skips in telling me how much he loves nursery and when I pick him up he asks me "when can I come to nursery again, Mum?" He is so happy there. There is a warmth at the nursery that I didn't experience at others and there are Happy
children running around being creative and expressing themselves, its lovely. The warmth extends to outside the nursery too, if you see anyone around the grounds, you are always greeted with a big hello and and a kind smile- there a real sense of community. The staff at the nursery are so attentive and caring, and put so much thought into what the children do. My son is always coming home with wonderful treasures that he has made. my son, like all boys needs to get outside and be physical and the outdoor space at St Ives is an adventure park with lots of space to run and wonderful views, for him to run around in. I highly recommend this wonderful nursery!

We are 100% happy with our choice of The Ivies. Our daughter loves going to nursery and is full of excitement on nursery days. She loves the afternoon activities. Ballet and Crafty Chefs are firm favourites. She loves the fact that there is lots of outside play, as well as Forest school. This week
she started telling me about how they say Hallo in French. She is so interested in keen in everything and the Ivies have such a wide range of things to do, and learn there is no chance of boredom! The garden area is well equipped and the children get good use of their wellies and waterproofs at the Ivies come rain or shine, which I think is a massive bonus! Our main reasons for choosing the Ivies were to do with the lovely calm feeling inside. Even on a busy day, there always seems to be a calm atmosphere, with happy busy children who are getting on with all sorts of activities, enjoying themselves in this warm, caring and calm environment. The level of one to one relationships is great too, and the staff are always available to talk in person or by email (which as a working mum is really useful). We’ve seen how much our daughter’s confidence has grown in just a couple of terms and feel that The Ivies has played a large role in this. The Ivies is a top choice!

My daughters attend this nursery with pleasure. They love all the teachers and feel happy and confident there. The extra activities abound and they love to take part in cooking, French, music, ballet. They don't enjoy swimming but then that's their preference.

This is a wonderful, homely, nurturing nursery run by kind and hard working staff. Children are very well known to all and given individual attention. The grounds are stunning. Outstanding activities and facilities include ballet, swimming (off site), forest school, music and French every week. My son
absolutely loved his time here and my daughter is thoroughly enjoying herself at the nursery now. You can't go wrong if you choose The Ivies.

We couldn't be happier with our choice of nursery for our son. There are many positives; the daily afternoon activities (forest school, cooking, ballet, etc) was one of the main deciding factors when we chose The Ivies, but it's really the staff who have exceeded expectations. You really get a sense
they genuinely care about each child, know what they are interested in, and notice when they need support.


If ever I stay a little longer at drop-off, I'm amazed at how well these small children play together, sharing and showing awareness for others. I think it's mainly down to the attitude of the staff, who seem to explain and reason with the children rather than raise voices. I really like that the 2-4 year olds are not segregated into separate rooms by age, because I think the younger ones learn a lot from the older ones, and the older ones learn to be patient with the younger ones.


The biggest measure of how good it is here is the size of the smile on my son's face when I pick him up - he's buzzing with excitement and full of stories of what he's done at nursery that day, proud to show me his artwork. He even asks to go nursery at weekends! I'm pleased his waterproofs regularly come home covered in a healthy dose of mud; I would much rather he be poking a stick in a muddy puddle than poking at the screen of an iPad!


Another thing I'm pleased to see every day is the different array of activities set up on the tables; be it a sensory bin of a tactile substance and figurines or a fresh batch of play-doh, there's always something interesting to get stuck into.


The only thing I'd add is, as a working mother, holiday cover!

The Ivies Nursery is such a special place, my daughter blossomed under the incredible care of the staff in the Ivies. The Nursery staff in the Ivies are truly the most patient, kind and a wonderful team and every single member of staff genuinely cares and nurtures your child. The Nursery is in a lovely
setting and it is the only Nursery in the area that seemed like a home from home - soft toys, cosy corners, books and the most amazing toy cupboard that you have ever seen. The Nursery benefits from having the facilities of the main school, including Forest school, with teachers popping in for French, music, PE and all sorts of fantastic lessons and experiences. It also has a superb curriculum with covering a vast range of topics as well as an introduction to phonics, maths and writing. During the afternoon sessions there are wonderful activities and my daughter adored her ballet, cooking lessons and sport sessions.


I cannot praise The Ivies more highly - it is Haslemere's best kept secret! It has prepared my daughter for reception brilliantly and it was also such a simple and easy move into Reception at St Ives as everything is so familiar. The Ivies and St Ives just creates a magical environment that results in happy and contented children, who just love to learn and want to learn - not sure that you can ask for more than that?!

Jade Vaus

Jade Vaus joined us in September 2024 as our Nursery Manager. She has a Level 3 Diploma in Childcare and Education and a vast experience of working in Early Years. She joins us from St Edmund’s Nursery and was previously Deputy Nursery Manager at Little Sailors Nursery at The Royal Prep School for many years.

Deb Bowler

Job Title: Nursery Assistant

Joined: 2011

Deb has worked at The Ivies for eight years. She has a Level 3 Cache in Childcare, and has additionally attended multiple training courses on many aspects of the nursery environment. Before joining us, Deb worked at her village nursery for ten years. She lives in Chiddingfold with her two children.

Rachel Sacre

Job Title: Early Years Practitioner

Joined: 2019

Rachel joined St Ives in January 2019 having previously worked at Lanesborough Prep School in Guildford. Rachel has over twenty years’ experience of working in childcare including daycare and school settings. During her time at Lanesborough Rachel worked in the nursery as a nursery assistant as well as a teaching assistant in both Reception class and Year 2. Rachel has an NVQ Level 3 in childcare and has kept her knowledge and skills up to date by attending regular training courses.

Angela joins us from Brook Nursery where she worked for over 18 months. Before her role at Brook, Angela nannied for several families in the Haslemere area, which she loved.


She is already proving to be a very valuable member of the team.

Rachel Blewett

Joined: 2022

Rachel holds an NNEB Childcare Qualification and has over 30 years experience of working in Early Years. Rachel has worked locally at Brook Nursery School for the past 15 years. Before this, Rachel worked at the Rocking Horse Nursery in Godalming and has also been a private nanny.


She is excited to be part of the team here at St Ives and looks forward to meeting all the nursery children and helping them reach their full potential.

Natasha, known as Tash, has also joined our nursery team this term. Tash has a background in Early Years with a Level 3 Diploma in Early Learning and Childcare. Most recently Tash has been working locally at Toad Hall prior to this she spent many years working at The Royal School Nursery.

Pippa Ayton

Job Title: Early Years Practitioner

Joined: 2013

Pippa has worked at St Ives for nine years. The majority of this time has been spent working in the Early Years during which she undertook training in developing practice within the early years, safeguarding and first aid. Pippa has gained previous experience working with children at Grayswood Infant School and Haslemere Prep School where she worked in both Reception and Nursery classes. Pippa has been involved with after-school activities, notably Beavers and cricket.
