Rated Outstanding by Ofsted (November 2017), Burgess Park Pre-School provides childcare and education to children from 2 to 5 years old.

The Nursery is in Peckham, just off the Old Kent Road. It's a big, open plan setting with a lovely spacious garden.

The children enjoy a wide range of activities with experienced staff, from cooking to yoga, science, gardening, construction, and much more! They also love to get creative too, making woodland scenes using pine cones, twigs and toys.

The nursery has strong links to the local community – they have an on-site food bank which provides additional support to parents.

The in-house chef provides all meals using healthy recipes from LEYF’s menu.

I appreciate this nursery because my daughter loves it and even on weekends she wants to go there, which means she is in good hands. I appreciate my daughter's development; she has learned a lot. They are welcoming, comprehensive and painted and open. I congratulate them for their fine work for the
good education of our children.

My daughter has been with them since April 2023. They’re amazing! They look after my child really well especially because of her food allergies. My daughter’s allergies are pretty severe and they know what to do when she gets allergic reactions. For example, the other day they gave her medicine 2.5mls
because she developed rashes on her face after eating oranges. She’s not allergic to oranges but they are very cautious and so, they gave the medicine anyway, which is what exactly I would do! They also made sure that I knew about it. Not only that, they’ve helped my daughter towards her learning overall! Thank you so much!

I've sent my son here for over a year. He suffered from speech delay and he had no social skills, because of COVID-19 he wasn't used to children his own age. He also had a little sister on the way and I was worried he wouldn't know how to cope as he had no experience of other children. He has come so
far because of this nursery, he's made friends, his speech is now amazing and he's the best big brother because he was taught social skills. He also asks to go in to see his teachers before he even mentions his friends. He also was a fussy eater. He's now branched out and I even get shocked when the staff tell me what he's eaten. It's now getting better at home and he eats almost everything. I've had absolutely no complaints when it comes to this nursery, I'm even sending my daughter when she turns 2 because I honestly love it and so does my son.

Great nursery.
Very understanding staff, helped me out a lot when my daughter went there and helped make her transition in primary very easy for her. Brilliant staff can’t fault them on anything. Definitely recommend this nursery to other people.

My child attended a different nursery before I placed him here and he did not settle one bit. But since bringing him here he has now settled and nursery is all he talks about. He absolutely loves this nursery and his teachers. He's been attending since April and now just says bye mum and has learned
so much in the short space of being here. He never used to speak much when he did you couldn't understand, now his speech is getting so clear. I am so pleased with the work the teachers put into their job. Thank you to all the staff here you are amazing. You are turning my little man into such a clever little lad. I am so pleased with how much he has developed in these months.
I would highly recommend this nursery especially to those with kids that have never been without their parent/guardian and are usually nervous in new environments like my boy was.

I am very happy that my child is in this nursery. She is very happy here and will always want to go to her nursery. Thes staff are very caring, friendly and enthusiastic about their work. In the few weeks that my child started attending this nursery, I can see a tremendous difference in her development.
I would say the management is efficient and will recommend this nursery to my friends and family.

The nursery is brilliant, I couldn't recommend it enough.

The staff are friendly and welcoming and they understand personal circumstances. The nursery itself is always clean with different areas of play.

My daughter only started in April and in the last month, my daughter has learnt her colours,

various nursery rhymes and her numbers also a few shapes.

I am so happy I picked Burgess Park Community Nursery.

My child attended this nursery from the age of 1 until she was almost 4 and I can say that she was looked after very well here. It has two lovely spacious buildings for the children and a very large garden for them to play in. Parents are given daily feedback on their child by the staff and the atmosphere
is very nurturing for them. I was very happy to send my child here.

This Nursery is extremely unorganised and unprofessional and really expensive. The Manager is very Platonic and extremely unorganised. Very unfair system and charges well over the normal rate and nothing spectacular for the cost they charge.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.628)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.628) out of 10 for Burgess Park Nursery & Pre-School is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 7 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.7 out of 5 from 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.928 for Burgess Park Nursery & Pre-School is calculated as follows: ( (78 Excellents x 5) + (4 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) ) ÷ 83 Ratings = 4.928

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.7 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Burgess Park Nursery & Pre-School is based on 7 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.7

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 32 number of registered child places is 6.4, which has been reached with 7 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
