Happy children thrive in this welcoming, stimulating and caring environment. They strive to meet the individual needs of every child and their friendly, experienced and highly qualified staff work closely in partnership with parents to ensure the children enjoy and achieve the best outcomes from their time at Battle Abbey Nursery.

Children may join them from the age of three months and quickly settle in this welcoming, fun and well-resourced home of Early Years; The Mulberry.

The Oaks and Reception classes enjoy a weekly Forest School session led by the qualified Forest School Leader to encourage a love of nature through opportunities to explore, investigate and play in a safe and secure environment.

The Oaks class transition to the Reception class is considered to be “seamless” as the children already feel part of the Battle Abbey School family and the focus is on ensuring their Early Years Foundation Stage learning, confidence and skills to provide the best springboard into school.

Battle Abbey School Nursery is an integral part of Battle Abbey School and enjoys the full range of their fantastic facilities which includes a wide variety of outdoor space for extensive learning and play opportunities, risk-taking and exploration in a safe and supportive environment.

The Prep school playing field is used for nature walks, outdoor games and their summer sports day. The Senior school welcomes children for the annual whole school photo, family days and other opportunities to explore this lovely historic site.

We have put both our children through Battle Abbey Nursery and really couldn't fault the level of service, care and attention our children and family have received during our time with them. The online Tapestry service is a wonderful window into their world at the Nursery and all contact we have had
with our Key workers have proved to us that they really understood our children and what made them tick. We couldn't be happy with the service we have had and it will be a sad time when we finally say goodbye to the Nursery this September.

It is a safe, well-equipped and organised place with a diverse range of activities. The handovers and general communication are detailed. I feel connected to my child’s learning and fun through daily meetings and tapestry. The nursery team have appeared kind and very caring and understanding of her
character, interests, abilities and needs, especially over time.
Another important aspect is that my child is always happy to arrive and be in the nursery company, watching her and following her signs is key to this. This speaks volumes.
She is still very young but I hope that in this supportive, caring and encouraging and opportune environment she will continue to flourish and happily build her character.

Our son has been at the nursery since January. It’s the first social environment he’s been in and he struggled a bit at the beginning. The nursery team have been exceptional in supporting him and encouraging him to grow. His confidence has grown and he loves nursery days! He’s also quite excited at
pickup times as well so we know he’s had a great day. I would highly recommend the Mulberry to anyone!

Brilliant nursery, very clean and the staff are lovely. Both my children have been/going and I couldn’t ask for better care. They come home saying how much fun they have, fed well and happy. I would recommend the nursery to everyone.

My son has attended the nursery for two years now (since he was 10 months old). He loves going to nursery and has really strong bonds with both his teachers and friends and loves talking about the nursery. We are so pleased and would not hesitate to recommend the nursery to friends and family. Our son’s
speech and general learning is going so well and we attribute a big part of that to his time at nursery.

Both our small ones attend Battle Abbey Nursery and we have had a really positive experience from the staff and facilities. It is a great nursery and our boys regularly run in without a backward glance.

We are very pleased with how our child has been welcomed into nursery. The staff have a great relationship with the children and always care for their needs. Our son took a while to settle but staff were patient and understanding and spent time with him, sharing books every morning to make him feel
happier. He always goes into nursery with a smile and happily talks about his day at home. The communication from key workers at the end of the sessions is lovely, always have time to chat about the child's day. Tapestry is updated regularly and it is lovely to see the children doing different activities in their sessions. We are very pleased with how the nursery is run and how children are looked after, it has been lovely to see our son gain more confidence with groups of children and other adults.

My son has been attending Battle Abbey Nursery for just over a year in the baby room (he has just turned 2) and has been thriving! The staff are wonderful - caring, friendly, knowledgeable and so attentive to your little one's needs. As first time parents we were worried about finding the right childcare
setting, (not to mention during the pandemic - Summer 2021), but we had the most amazing welcome and settling in sessions with the team and we just knew it was the right place for him. He has come on leaps and bounds with his confidence, walking and speech and has a great bond with the staff. The play areas and space including the field are such lovely areas for the children to enjoy too as well as the delicious fresh meals. I would thoroughly recommend the nursery to anyone and feel very lucky and grateful to have found such a wonderful, safe place for my son to learn and grow.

My daughter has been at Battle Abbey Nursery for a little over 4 months, starting when she was 16 months old and the Nursery is quite simply incredible. She took about two visits to get used to us not being with her and on about the 5th visit (she attends for 4 half days a week) she literally leapt
out of my arms (I almost dropped her!) as she was so desperate to get inside! Now, when we're up to 100 yards from the door and she realises where she's going, her face lights up no matter how grumpy she has been all morning. I genuinely think the most disappointing part of her day is leaving! The staff at the Nursery always take time to give me a rundown of how she has been that day and what she has eaten so I can see how she's progressing and that, together with the regular updates and pictures on Tapestry (their in house system to which all parents are given a login) makes it a really great experience for parent and child alike. I would highly recommend the Nursery to anyone.

Excellent staff who are very caring and brilliant with children. They give great communication on how my daughter's day has gone and are very knowledgeable on child development. Facilities are fantastic and they have lots of opportunities such as ballet and watching caterpillars transform into butterflies
etc.

My son has been at Battle Abbey Nursery since he was 10 months old. As a first time working mum, I was incredibly nervous about putting my baby into childcare but the team in the baby room were incredible. They truly got to know my son and stopped at nothing to help him progress and settle in. He has
now moved up to the age 2+ room and has come on leaps and bounds in the caring, fun and engaging atmosphere that Battle Abbey provides. What I love about this nursery is how flexible and truly committed the staff are to working with your child and their personality - there is no 'one size fits all' approach. I wouldn't dream of sending him anywhere else and every day that I pick him up, he's had home-cooked, healthy meals and had fun taking part in a range of activities and usually picked up a new word or two.

I really struggled to find a nursery that ticked all the boxes but the team and facilities at Battle Abbey Nursery are exactly what I've been looking for. I have no worries when dropping my son off at nursery - I feel he is safe, having fun, learning new things every day and it is great that he looks
forward to his nursery days. I am very grateful to the team for the care they provide for my son.

Both my children have attended Battle Abbey Nursery, Bexhill and both have had the most amazing experience. The level of care is exceptional, the staff know how to nuture the children to get the very best out of them. They get to experience such a wide range of indoor and outdoor activities including
forest school, which is amazing. A hot two course lunch is provided, as well as healthy snacks. I couldn't recommend this nursery more highly.

Job Title: Deputy Manager

I am the deputy manager and the room leader for the pre-school Oaks room. I joined the Battle Abbey Family in 2008 where I have worked in both the younger ‘Acorns’ room and I’m currently with the 3-4-year-olds. What I love most about my job is being fortunate enough to watch the children develop, grow and flourish from Nursery age all the way through to 6th Form at the Senior School. In my spare time, I enjoy walking, catching up with friends and family as well as volunteering for local charities.

I absolutely loved it and still reminisce about my time there even now. I then began studying a 2-year Horse Management course at Plumpton College. My love of horses continues and I try to get down to my local stables as much as I can. My work life started at Marks and Spencer Eastbourne as a Christmas temp which lasted for 7 years!! I began working at Battle Abbey Nursery in April 2019 as an Admin Assistant and it is so lovely to be a part of the Battle Abbey family again!!

I live in Bexhill with my husband and my two sons. My youngest son came to Battle Abbey Nursery and thoroughly enjoyed his time there. We both really loved Battle Abbey Nursery so when a position came available to work at the nursery I jumped at the chance!.

Over the past few years, I have worked with the council organising baby groups for local families to enjoy and I also worked in a nursery in Hastings.

I'm currently working in the baby room which I enjoy and find very rewarding.

In my spare time, I love to be with my family. We enjoy walks and adventures together. I'm trying to get better at gardening. I'm hoping to develop a small veg patch this year.

I feel so privileged to be able to work with children, I love to listen to their stories and what they have to say. Every day is different and always guaranteed to be full of fun.

I began my placement experience as a college student and was quickly offered an apprenticeship at the setting where I progressed on gaining my Level 2 and Level 3 in Childcare. As I have always lived in Bexhill with my family, I was aware of the excellent reputation Battle Abbey School holds so when a position arose for Battle Abbey Nursery, I was eager to apply for a position. I particularly love the layout of the setting which is spacious, bright, and full of exciting activities and opportunities for the children to thrive and develop.
