I first discovered Child First Welbeck Day Nursery when my son was only a few months old. I took him to a sing and sign class that was held there. It's setting in the Welbeck estate means the children have acres of land to explore. When you pair it with the inside, its rustic charm and homely feel really
make this nursery stand out from the rest. There really is nothing else like it in the area.
Child First allows children to have freedom to choose, learn through play and develop at their own pace. The majority of the time the children play outside and are not confined to a classroom setting. My son loves being outside and getting dirty and at Welbeck, he's allowed to do this. We can't believe how much my son's confidence has grown. He gets so excited when we arrive at nursery in the morning and we always pick him up tired out, covered in dirt, well fed and happy! As parents we couldn't ask for better.

My little boy has been attending nursery since January. Unfortunately over the lockdown period, we decided it was best not to send him for a while as we have a vulnerable family and are all key workers.
When he returned, the staff were so friendly and welcoming, after a few upset arrivals, he now
runs into nursery every time he attends!
He has turned into such a confident, chatty and outgoing little boy and chatters none stop in the car when I collect him.
He always comes home having had a healthy home-cooked meal for lunch and dirty after a fun day outside!
The online journal is helpful as I can work with the nursery to understand what he is working towards in his development and try to help enhance this at home.
We didn’t look around any other nurseries as we all felt happy with here after just one visit.
I can’t wait for my little boy to continue his nursery journey here and flourish and grow even more!

My son has been at Child First Welbeck for nearly 2 years. It is the best nursery with the most wonderful staff I've ever come across. It is set in the most idyllic surroundings with amazing outdoor spaces for adventures and exploring. Their ethos for learning is truly wonderful and I love the fact
that the children can spend however much time they wish outdoors, indoors or wherever they fancy!
My son adores everyone here and I only wish he could stay until he's 18.
I would recommend to anyone to come and take a look, once you have been you won't want to leave. Seeing is believing.

Well, where do I start it’s hard to put into words just how incredible this magical place is. Our journey with Child First started around 3 years ago when my eldest child started here and soon after my youngest child also started. My eldest child had always been used to being outdoors so that was the
first thing that attracted me to Child First and wow did it deliver. Within weeks of being there, he had already built a very strong relationship with the staff and still does to this day even though he now attends school. My youngest child still goes to Child First and I don’t even want to think about the day we will have to say our goodbyes he absolutely adores nursery and has a very strong bond with all staff. Throughout the years I have also grown very close to all the staff and fall back on them for help and advise when needed. This nursery is our home from home our friends that became family.

Like all the reviews. This nursery is superb in every manner. Professional safe and the ability for kids to explore nature. My son has been going here since he was 9 months old and loves every aspect of it. Regular crying when leaving (as home isn't as fun). He's developed in leaps and bounds going
to Welbeck Child First. The dedication and love of the staff are beyond belief. You will not be disappointed at all. Quiet beautiful surroundings. We didn't look round any other nurseries we instantly fell in love. Our second child will be attending as well.

The setting is amazing - brilliant space outside and inside with lots of choice of activities.

My daughter has been attending Child First for over a year now, as soon as I came to look around the nursery it had a home from home feel. The staff team and management were so welcoming and went out of their way to settle in my little girl. Their ethos is fantastic and my daughter has thrived since
being there, she spends most of her time outdoors, jumping in muddy puddles, going on adventures around the Welbeck estate, she never wants to come home and is always muddy with a huge smile on her face! She is allowed to be a child and that's the most important thing in my eyes.
Thank you to everyone at Child First for all your kindness and support over the past year, you truly are amazing and we wouldn't go anywhere else!

We absolute love Child First Welbeck. Their ethos, space and countryside setting is something that is really important to us. Children being themselves, learning through play and coming home covered in mud or paint with big happy smiles. The staff are all wonderful too, I always know my children will
have a magical day while I’m at work. Both of my children started at Child First Welbeck from nine months old. If you are looking for a nursery you really must check it out.

My daughter has been going to Welbeck nursery for most of her life, she was 10-months-old after her childminder said she couldn't work anymore.
I was heartbroken, but there was only one nursery I wanted to see for her transition, and that was Welbeck, I have never stepped foot in another nursery since.
I wanted her to have space and be outside, not be behind barred windows and in a concrete playground, and Welbeck has totally exceeded my expectations for her childcare.
But it's not just the environment, the garden's and the onsite chef... its the staff... There's nothing these guys wouldn't do not only for the kids but for us parents too! I wouldn't trust anyone else with my daughter, and I will be heartbroken beyond words when she has to leave to go to school next year!


Massive thank you, to the manager and all the staff; you are angels.

My son had been attending Child First Welbeck since November 2019, and I cannot begin to explain how much he enjoys it every day. The staff team are incredible and work so hard to ensure the children have natural resources and activities to get involved in every day. My son has grown in confidence,
language, friendships and independence. He truly loves that he has the freedom to choose the activities that he enjoys, explores the spaces he wants to and interacts with the staff and children. We could not wish for a better setting for our son.

My daughter attended Child First Welbeck, so there was no question when it came to picking a nursery for my son. The setting and space are idyllic, my son is only 11-months-old but already loves going to nursery. He is already growing in confidence and gets so excited when we arrive in a morning. The
love and care he gets from the staff is second to none, and I have absolutely no worries leaving him, knowing how happy he is. I’m looking forward to seeing him grow and fully appreciate the outdoor space and facilities that the nursery has to offer. Seeing my daughter graduate from this nursery and go off to school happy, confident and independent was the best feeling ever, and I can’t wait to see him do the same!

Where do I start with this amazing nursery! My daughter has been coming since she was two, she is now almost four and still loves it! I am a key worker, and they have remained open so I can go to work.
All the staff go above and beyond to make sure that she still has a wonderful day, even though there
are a lot fewer children at the moment. She, unfortunately, left her most favourite teddy there just before the Easter break and one of the staff members was so kind in returning him to our doorstep. I am so grateful for everything they have done for us.
We love getting pictures and videos of all the fun she is having in this incredible setting.
I cannot recommend them enough!

Finding a nursery for my daughter in 2016 was tough but when I heard that Child First was opening at Welbeck, I was excited to visit as I like the Child First ethos. My daughter started as soon as it opened and stayed until she had to start school. She loves the outdoors, and this is the perfect place
to nurture those interests and so much more. They can choose if they want to play inside or out, and the staff encourage the children to learn through play, paint, songs, stories but let them lead the way. My Son started in December 2019 and was just starting to settle when the pandemic hit. His key worker was so supportive as he was reluctant to have me leave, but each visit, was getting better and he even started to ask “can I go to nursery today”. I’m hoping that he can be back there soon so he can grow and develop friendships in such a happy, natural environment. Thank you to all the staff at Welbeck for making it a lovely place to be.

This is an outstanding nursery that is totally unique and allows children to be children, playing in the mud and learning through play. I love the fact that its free flow and ages mix.
The grounds are stunning, food is cooked on-site and menus provided to ensure we know what the children have eaten.
All allergies are always catered for. The staff team, including management, cannot do enough for the parents and children. They really do feel like an extended family.

I and my husband just wanted to leave a review so everyone else can know just how exceptional this nursery is. Our daughter has been going here just short of two years now and it really is amazing, the activities that the children can do are exceptional on a daily basis from cooking with the chef to
feeding the chickens and jumping in muddy puddles; they really do have it all! The staff are amazing and go above and beyond, and our daughter is always talking about how amazing they all are! If you want your child to thrive, and be loved like they are at home, then you don’t need to look any further.

My son has been coming to this nursery since May 2019. I cannot recommend this nursery enough. The nursery offers a wide range and variety of activities which wouldn’t be offered at ‘normal run of the mill’ nurseries, for example, they do yoga classes, painting to different styles of music and let them
express themselves as they wish to do so in a safe, calm and caring environment, letting the children gain a wide range of experience growing/planting and taking care of plants, flowers and vegetables. I also like the fact that the children get the opportunity to bake and cook different things from buns, cupcakes and pastries to savoury dishes. The staff are absolutely outstanding, always putting the needs of the children first, and most importantly are so approachable kind and friendly. Whenever I call the nursery to see how my son is doing the staff always have time to speak to me. Any child would be so lucky to come here!

Our daughter absolutely loves it here. She was so anxious and quiet when she first started five months ago, but the staff made every effort possible to make sure her time was enjoyable and also that we knew she was ok. She now gets so excited when she knows she's going. Her confidence has soared, her
language and understanding has increased massively and all while exploring and playing. I don't think she would have settled this well at any other nursery.
The setting is beautiful, but it really is the staff who make this nursery so special.

If I could have created my perfect nursery, Child First would still have exceeded my expectations! Children are allowed to be children; climbing, building, using their imaginations, learning through play and in the process, building up a healthy appetite for the lovely home cooked meals that are provided.
My boy loves his nursery, the friends he has made there and the staff. What a wonderful setting to start his development journey.

I began my career whilst studying at university and worked as a 1:1 with a 4-year-old boy with autism, this sparked an interest in how the mind works, especially in children. I then worked in a mother and baby unit, supporting young mums and their children and teaching them about life skills, how to care for their children, and how to look after themselves. I worked for Nottingham City council for 10 years as a senior residential social care worker with children ranging from 4 years to 19 years, with learning disabilities, autism, and mental and physical disabilities. I love weekends away with my family, very spicy food, live concerts and long walks with my dog.

Hi, my name is Ellen. I am the finance and administration supervisor at Child First Welbeck. I have a degree in Advertising and Digital Marketing however I have always wanted to work in a childcare environment which is why I love working at the nursery! I have a daughter who is currently in the Hatchling Space so it is lovely to see as a parent all the amazing work the practitioners do!


In my spare time, I like to go on days out with my family and take as many trips to Disneyland as I can fit!
