Banana Moon Day Nursery in Rothwell, staff always try to see everything from a parent's perspective.

CCTV operates throughout the nursery to protect children, staff and parents. A finger print biometric entry system is also used. This system allows nursery personnel to quickly register every parent and carer's fingerprint.

Children can have fun exploring the world of colour, shapes and texture through the use of toys, adult interaction and sensory experiences.

The children go outside every day to get exercise and learn more about the world. All age groups benefit from daily outdoor activities.

Sleep rooms have cots and sleep mattresses and every child has their own bed linen which is cleaned in house. At all times, staff strive to keep to parents' desired sleep patterns and routines.

Nutritionally balanced meals are made using fresh ingredients, suiting different food preferences and dietary needs.

My child loves attending nursery because of the fantastic staff. He loves all of them and enjoys the toys and food. The nursery staff are very knowledgeable about his progression and always feed this back. We also really like the app.

My son started in October after a bad start in a previous nursery. The staff have done a fantastic job at listening to us, getting to know our boy and caring for him daily, At the moment we are struggling with our diet for our son and the nursery staff, manager and the whole team have offered guidance
and support. Would definitely recommend.

I've had two boys come here who both have thrived from coming here, Each member of staff has such a special bond with each of the children and are amazing all round. I couldn't think of a better, safer and happier nursery setting to send my children to.

Absolutely amazing nursery. My daughter has been attending since one year old, and the level of support and encouragement the staff provide is so positive. The staff genuinely care for the children and seeing my child develop, learn and grow in confidence every day is so lovely to see.

Would not recommend this nursery, especially for children aged 2+.
My son had moved from the baby room (the baby room was fantastic) to the mini-moons room and this has caused my son to be upset, screaming, and crying, not wanting to go to nursery anymore after he enjoyed it. Staff needs extra training
or to find a new job role completely. The children do the same activities every day, given no attention, left soiled and dirty - not getting checked or changed. One member of staff too heavy-handed with another child on pick up to be put down for a nap and many other issues.
This overall has caused massive trauma for my son even after changing nurseries. Spoke to the manager and still, no change within the room, emailed the same manager but never replies to address any of these issues. Other parents have emailed and no replies again. After this experience and the issues it has caused my son, would not recommend anyone to send their child there. I feel Ofsted needs to re-evaluate the rating massively.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us and we are sorry you feel this way. All our staff undergo induction and continuous professional development training, while most also hold relevant EY qualifications. Children are introduced to a range of activities each day that help them develop whilst learning through play-based experiences which you can see in our parent's app. Our CCTV footage shows your child having many interactions confidently with peers and adults and that he was not in any kind of distress while with us. Nappy changes are done regularly throughout the day which you can see in the parent's app. We are aware of 5 emails from yourself, 4 of which had replies sent, and a face-to-face meeting was held. We find the claim of heavy-handed staff to be completely unfounded and of which no evidence has been provided. We strongly refute this allegation, which has been particularly upsetting for our staff, who strive to provide a welcoming and safe setting for our children.

Would not recommend. My child is not the same person after putting my trust in this nursery.
Poor activities, poor food and poor staff (especially the manager).
Children aged 2-3 are not stimulated due to a lack of knowledge and motivation.
If you want to pay £53 a day for your child to play with
a lump of playdough (no equipment) or sat on a dirty floor painting with one colour, then send your children here.
When collecting she would cry and scream with relief. I changed nursery straight away and not one single tear. The number of children I would see crying never sat right with me.
100% do research before putting your child in a nursery, especially this one.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience and we are sorry you feel this way. The criticism of our activities is surprising, as they are created specifically to ensure your child is always learning. The playdough activity, was a sensory activity with scented playdough. This was used to create and support language about how it looks, feels, and smells, while also encouraging the children to talk about their creations. Likewise, the painting activity had many colours on offer but the photo shows your child painting with one colour of her choice. Meals are freshly created by our on-site nursery cook each day. We know you discussed with our team member that you didn't believe your child was eating certain foods, which is why she brought you in to watch her eating the pineapple sticks. Our nursery manager was responsible for letting you know about our policy that we do not swap days, which we understand is disappointing to hear but it has always been in place and is mentioned in T&Cs.

Amazing staff at Banana Moon, so friendly and I can say I feel at ease when my daughter is there as I know she is in good hands. From day one my daughter has settled in. I also love the fact that you get daily pictures and updates on your child's activities throughout the day, also you get to know what
they had to eat. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff they are so attentive to your child's needs.
