The nursery is spread across two adjoining houses with bright and airy playrooms, a shared conservatory area and an exciting outdoor play area with its own giant pirate ship.

Children at the nursery enjoy a wide range of inspirational learning activities covering all aspects of the Early Years Foundation Stage, including communication, physical development, and expressive art and design.

Stepping Stones' experienced team hold childcare qualifications, paediatric first aid certificates and safeguarding training. Every team member has an enhanced DBS check and the nursery has CCTV and secure door entry systems for added security.

Despite changes in management and staff over time, I have started to see more consistency at the nursery and also on the app . Whenever I've had any concerns, I've felt comfortable speaking to the staff, who have always been welcoming and supportive. It gives me peace of mind knowing my child is in
happy and well-cared-for environment. Stepping stones offer a fun, play-based learning environment where kids can explore, learn, and grow.
Special mention to one member of staff in particular, who has been there from the beginning and is always a great reference for my little girl :)

My youngest child has just moved up to the toddler room from the baby room and my oldest attended Stepping Stones as a toddler and preschooler from 2021-2023. The staff are lovely, supportive, and have been a huge help in accommodating my children's dietary requirements. Each room has a great selection
of toys, books and other resources for child-led learning, and the garden space is fantastic. Food and sundries are included in the fees, which has prevented much stress and faff in our family. There's been a remarkable improvement in the overall quality of the nursery since we started during covid-times and I hope that the recent takeover by Partou will continue the trend of professionalisation. Thank you to all the staff! My daughter loves spending time with you and comes home babbling away about it!

My daughter has been with Stepping Stones since she was one, and she is genuinely excited to go every day. Her development has been really great, and she is so confident in herself with is so warming to see. A lot of this is because of Stepping Stones, and in particular the people that work there have
all had a huge impact on my daughter, and have supported her to become the little person she is.
There is always a huge effort made to make sure that the children are stimulated, and when I drop my daughter off in the mornings the activities have already been laid out and planned for. The children spend a lot of time outside, which I am a huge fan of, and there are a lot of educational activities that are shared back with us parents, so we can follow up with our children.
My daughter is really happy here, and that makes me really happy with Stepping Stones.

Love the flexibility with this nursery. Staff are always friendly, they have a lovely outdoor space which is used often and various different indoor areas, with lots of different activities set out. My daughter really enjoys going here, Have been using this nursery since 2021.

My baby started this summer at Stepping Stones and I have to say I have been impressed so far. They are very friendly, approachable and professional. I was apprehensive before we started as it was my first experience to leave my baby at a nursery but they have been really great. I know my child is cared
for by the same ladies in the baby room and my baby has got to know them now which makes me feel happy and relaxed.

My daughter has been at Stepping Stones since she was one, moving through babies, toddlers and now preschool. Her key workers, one in babies and one in toddlers have been amazing. They have helped her development and ensured that she has a positive and safe environment in which she can thrive. My daughter
has built strong friendships facilitated and encouraged by the staff which has been so lovely to watch develop. As a small nursery, my daughter has been able to build a real sense of community and looks at the nursery as a home away from home.

The staff are really lovely and care about the children. My child loves going and enjoys her time there. All the children seem to be happy at the nursery and seem to get on well with the staff. I do love seeing the updates, but find that they can be sporadic, sometimes with only 1 or 2 updates that
day. I wouldn't normally mind but it would be useful to know if she hasn't had a nap or hasn't eaten much tea at the end of the day. A couple of times my child has been sent home with a soiled nappy and a few times with a wet nappy. Also, I picked up my child once and the staff had an audiobook playing on a CD player and a member of staff turning the pages of the book. I feel like the staff should be actually reading the book for all the children and especially for any children that rely on lip reading to understand.

My little boy has been attending Stepping Stones since August 2022. Having started in the baby room, he spent a year in Toddlers before recently moving on to Pre-School. Throughout all the rooms and different key workers, my husband and I have been nothing but impressed with the care and education he
has received. His confidence has grown from strength to strength, and this is due to the belief staff members have put in him during his time spent in the nursery. They have engaged with his interests, encouraged activities outside of his comfort zone, and dealt with any peer incidents that have arisen quickly with practical measures. All staff members we have encountered at Stepping Stones are friendly, approachable and highly trained in childcare. We cannot thank them enough for making our son's nursery experience such an exciting one!

Our daughter has been with Stepping Stones since 12 months and has just left for school. This time has included the pandemic, which was a difficult time for all. Our daughter has always enjoyed going and the staff have always been attentive. There were a few bumpy months with staff, but that was down
to coming out of the pandemic which all businesses had. In 2023 there has been no issues and the new manager has been great for the nursery. I would not hesitate to recommend Stepping Stones, the staff are caring, friendly, positive and professional. You get updated regularly through the online journal app and when picking your child up, a handover of what has been going on that day.

I have 2 children both of whom attend the nursery. I have experienced care from all 3 of the rooms - Babies, Toddlers and Pre-School and I can’t fault the care both of my children have been given from the nursery. When my son first attended with him being my first child I was quite anxious sending him
off to nursery when I had to go back to work. It was an adjustment for both of us. The nursery staff recognised my anxiety and went above and beyond to make each morning during drop off and also pick up to reassure me with how my son's day went. This was also the same when my daughter had joined the nursery the level of support was just as great. The staff have always been so supportive during the transitions through each room my children have been in. Both my children enjoy their time and nursery and always come home speaking about their day and all the fun learning things they have done and the friendships they have made. I would more than 100% recommend Stepping Stones Day Nursery-Speedwell.

My son has had visible developments since he joined the nursery almost a year ago. The staff are friendly and they don't hesitate to provide feedback of my child's daily experience in the nursery. My son enjoys going to the nursery, he looks forward to it. It would be good if the kids have the opportunity
to borrow some of their favourite storybooks from the school to read at home as well. Overall I have had a good experience with the nursery.

My daughter has been at Stepping Stones since she was 11 months and is now 2 and a half years. She is always so happy to go and has made some close bonds with the other children. Her key worker always listens to any requests we have for her care and works with us. The children spend lots of time in

We have been using Stepping Stones Day Nursery Speedwell for the last six years for both my children. Over that time, we've seen quite a few changes and gone through all the difficulties of 2020 and 2021. My children have always loved going to nursery there, and I feel the staff genuinely care about
their wellbeing. Even though my eldest is now at school, the staff who worked with her remember her and greet her warmly when we're at the morning drop-off for my youngest. I am always impressed by how the staff know all the children's names, even those of the children that are not in their "rooms" or the staff that are only there a few days a week. The facilities are a bit tired and dated, but since the new manager started, there have been some new initiatives introduced, such as the time for stories book bags, which my son absolutely loves. It would be good if the Learning Book was updated more regularly, but appreciate it takes time out of focusing on the children.

The staff is nice and there was an improvement since the manager joined this nursery. My daughter loves the staff and she seems happy here, but here is where the good part ends.


The building is very dated and in urgent need of repairs and TLC. The menu is very repetitive and based on carbs, not

protein and veggies. The outdoor space for babies is small and very dated.
They seem understaffed most of the time, once even closed the room with short notification (I received an email at 8pm) due to lack of staff.
There have been several cases where they didn’t change my daughter’s nappy in time and didn’t wipe her properly. Also when I pick her up I always wait around 20 minutes (not great when is raining and windy outside).
