Little Forest Folk Chiswick offers fully outdoor childcare that immerses two to five-year-olds in nature, helping them become creative, resilient learners.

Children are encouraged to run, jump, climb and explore their natural environment, using resources from the great outdoors to stimulate and trigger their imagination.

Full day children arrive at the indoor space at 8am for a healthy, homemade breakfast. Putting on their wellies & waterproofs, they make the short walk to the forest, where they are joined by their Sessional friends, spending the rest of their day outdoors together. Lunch, plus morning & afternoon snack are enjoyed in the forest. Sessional children leave at 3:30 & full day children have plenty of time for more child led play, before enjoying a delicious dinner in the indoor space, then home time!

Little Forest Folk Chiswick is lucky to have their outside space within the grounds of Chiswick House. Camp moves around the grounds allowing children to explore different areas depending on the seasons – they also take exciting adventure walks to take advantage of all spaces on offer. On camp there is always a range of sensory activities available or a quiet story area to enjoy favourite books. There is a cosy sleeping tent for children who nap in the middle of the day. Other features include forest toilets, nappy changing tent and handwashing stations.

The nursery delivers the full Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum with a forest spin, where children learn in a natural environment & are observed and their development assessed as you would in an indoor nursery. The early years care is child-led and play-based.

Little Forest Folk are proud to maintain a 1:4 ratio of staff to children, for all ages and at all points of the day - this ensures the highest standards of safety, care and education for little ones.

The nursery is currently rated GOOD by OFSTED (April 2024).

I cannot speak highly enough of our experience with Little Forest Folk in Chiswick. The outdoor learning environment provides a lovely blend of education, creativity, and adventure that traditional classroom settings often can't offer. My daughter has become more confident, resilient, and independent
and she walks much further too! The hands-on approach-whether it's identifying plants, painting with leaves or nature walks or learning to solve real-life problems has been really valuable to her development.
The teachers are wonderful, too. So caring and loving. Their passion for outdoor learning and their ability to engage the kids with fun, meaningful activities make every day exciting. They truly understand how to balance structure with freedom, allowing children to take the lead in their learning while providing support and guidance when needed.
What I love most is seeing my daughter come home happy, muddy, and full of stories about the day's adventure!

My son has just started his second year at Little Forest Folk Chiswick and absolutely loves his time there.
The teachers are all amazing - kind, fun and imaginative with the activities they do each day. They have helped him through picky eating, toilet training and reluctance to leave me in the morning
- always with compassion and endless patience!
Despite my worries when he first started, he naps really well every day in their cosy sleeping tent.
I recommend it to everyone we talk to and it was the best decision we made.

My daughter loves her time spent with Little Forest Folk, she attends 2 full days a week. I wanted her to attend this forest school as living in a city with little garden space I wanted her to have the freedom and space that Little Forest Folk nurseries provide. The staff are all super friendly and
fun! The creativity that goes into planning the days is amazing. Plus they use a superb app Famly which I receive updates whilst she is there regardless of food, sleep and toilet visits. Plus pictures sent every day. I want to go there myself!

Current Review Score: 8.9 (8.944)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.9 (8.944) out of 10 for Little Forest Folk Chiswick is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.9 out of 5 from 3 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.0 out of 5 from 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.944 for Little Forest Folk Chiswick is calculated as follows: ( (34 Excellents x 5) + (2 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 36 Ratings = 4.944

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Little Forest Folk Chiswick is based on 3 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.25

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 20 number of registered child places is 4. 3 Positive Reviews ÷ 4 = 0.75

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
