My daughter has developed massively since starting in September and loves coming to nursery, she has lovely bonds with the staff in her room. The staff are really friendly and welcoming and do all that they can to provide the best environment and experiences for the children!

I’ve recently met with the new support manager, the new Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator of the setting and also the new manager of the Happy Days setting and I have come away feeling very reassured, the most reassured I’ve ever felt! Things are progressing very quickly and things are finally
being put into place for my child, support manager, Special Educational Needs Co-ordinator and new manager have all spoken to me individually and I’ve felt so at ease and reassured and happy to leave my child in their care and as I said the most reassured I’ve ever felt. Pre-school staff are very patient and understanding of my child and his needs, always very good with communication from staff to parent and very welcoming upon arrival, I am overall very happy with the service.

Would not recommend the Thornbury branch of this nursery in its current state. Cannot fault the staff but management/head office do not seem to care enough to actually look after them (or care more about making money) and turnover is high as a result. Poor continuity of care for the children. Parents
are being given short notice for reduced operational hours (2 days) and cancelled sessions. Places secured and paid for months in advance have been cancelled with little notice. Very poor communication with false information being spread to save reputation. Such a shame because the staff in the rooms, that have stayed there are working extremely hard and seem to getting the brunt frustrations.

As communicated recently, staff from our other settings have been supporting the nursery to maintain consistency for the children and we are pleased that one of these colleagues has decided to make this move permanent as they have enjoyed their experience in the setting. We also recently introduced you to our new manager for Thornbury, and we encourage you to meet with her to discuss your concerns and take the opportunity to get to know her and hear her plans/aspirations for the nursery moving forward. Our son started at Happy Days when he was around 14 months old. We have been really pleased with the nursery and definitely recommend it. The team there work very hard to engage the children, make sure they're happy and involved in a wide range of activities. They also give really good feedback at the
end of every day so we know what they've been doing, what they ate and when they slept. When our son was particularly sad at drop off one time a staff member sent an email soon after to show him happily playing so that I didn't worry which was thoughtful. I was also very impressed with our son's key person who gave us regular feedback on his development which was really nice to see. Thank you Happy Days!

Our son attended a nursery previously and we are so happy that we moved him. His key worker shows such warmth and understanding, especially as he can be quite sensitive. All of the team are friendly, helpful and will always go the extra mile. He eats better there than he does at home which speaks volumes!
They handled the last year brilliantly and we are so grateful for everything they have done to keep everyone safe. They have supported us well with potty training and are flexible and patient. Wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it!

We are absolutely delighted with the care and experiences that our little girl has received since joining Happy Days Nursery & Preschool - Thornbury in December. The warmth and professionalism of the staff has made her time in nursery a wholly positive one for both her and us. Despite the challenges
caused by the current circumstances, the level of communication we have received each day has been exemplary. The 'My Day' sheet we get for her each day is always lovely, completed and takes pride of place in our home. I would recommend Happy Days Nursery & Preschool - Thornbury to other parents without a moments hesitation. We're so happy that we came across the nursery and chose it for our daughter.

My daughter started at Happy Days Nursery & Preschool - Thornbury at fourteen months old and now three years later is in her final few months before starting school in September. She settled in very quickly and has loved her time there, making lots of new friends along the way. The open plan layout
of the rooms and direct access to outside space is great. The staff have been fantastic throughout, especially during trying the times of the last year. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Happy Days Nursery & Preschool - Thornbury.

I'm really happy our son attends Happy Days, he loves nursery days! The staff are really lovely, and my son has flourished under their care. Even during the difficulties of the last year, when my son was struggling with social interaction a little, staff picked up on it swiftly and helped put a plan
in place to help him, which has worked well.
I feel like he is being really well prepared for school, and the nursery is incredibly clean and well managed, which can't be said for all nurseries! So pleased my son is happy, safe and well cared for, and whenever I have had any queries or concerns, these have been dealt with swiftly and professionally.

My son loves going to nursery. Since the start of the Covid-19 pandemic my son has struggled with not seeing family and friends. The nursery has provided some normality for him, allowing him to play with others in a safe environment. Happy Days Nursery & Preschool - Thornbury communicated with me throughout
the pandemic and the communication has been faultless. I have received regular email updates on activities that the children have taken part in and updates in policies for reporting Covid-19 symptoms. I can rest assure that my son is being well looked after in an environment he loves. Thank you to all staff! As an NHS worker, I am grateful for all you do to enable me to continue working.

My son has been attending Happy Days for 6-months, and I could not be happier with the care he receives! The staff are all so friendly and welcoming, and no request is too much for them; they will do all they can to support you and your child. The activities and interactions they provide are age-appropriate,
stimulating and challenging; my son has made great strides in his development since joining the nursery. My son's key person has a warm and upbeat personality, and my son has a great relationship with her, he happily goes to her in the morning and takes his time coming back when I collect. My son started in August 2020, and it has been the best decision to send him to Happy Days. He settled very quickly, having been with a childminder, I wasn't sure how he would take to it. He formed a bond with one of the team initially, and that really helped.
All the staff in the room are engaging
when we do drop off and pick up, and my son speaks fondly of them. We get a daily sheet and monthly update pack, so we know what he is enjoying playing with/reading and his friends. He enjoys the range of activities and is really thriving since starting there. They have recently supported us with potty training and were flexible with how we wanted to do it, even providing a daily sheet.
I love that there is an onsite cook and that things are made fresh on the premises. The management team are very approachable, friendly and always make themselves available for questions, calls and are visible. I cannot say enough good things; we are so happy that our son is so well cared for and happy to go.

Happy Days have been fantastic with my youngest who really struggled to settle in nursery, moving rooms just after she turned two was traumatic for her but nursery were amazing with many settling sessions. COVID hit and we had a few months at home nursery we’re in regular contact with home learning.
Communication is excellent and despite not being able to currently go in the building the staff communication at the drop off and pick up are great. Well done Happy Days you’ve adapted to things brilliantly whilst still offering great care and learning opportunities.

We had our older son and younger daughter attending another Happy Days setting in the past and were so pleased with their approach and the way they adapt it to each child. So, when we moved to Thornbury, we decided without hesitation to place our daughter in the local Happy Days Nursery. She absolutely
loved it! Never cried at drop-offs, even with mummy, never upset, on the contrary always enthusiastic of all the exciting activities they do every day and all the friends she has made. The environment is clean and spacious, lots of light in every room. The nursery personnel is so lovely, always positive and smiling. I cannot recommend this nursery enough.

My name is Sammie, and I am the new manager of Happy Days Thornbury.


I have been working within the childcare sector for over 16 years 3 with years of management experience. I spent 2 years working in Dubai as a pre-school teacher where my early years knowledge grew even further.


Working in the early years has always been a huge passion of mine. Seeing the children flourish throughout their nursery experience and supporting families is something that brings me such joy in my career and I am excited to bring my experience, passion and love for childcare with me to Happy Days.
