Children 1st @ Buckinghams was rated as 'Good' by Ofsted (May 2022) and is a very popular nursery conveniently located on Buxton Road in Leek. The nursery is part of Children 1st which is in the Top 3 in the UK for Ofsted outstanding results according to the 2021 Nursery World Nursery Chains Report.

The nursery has large, well resourced learning environments designed for babies, toddlers and early years. The environments provide the perfect opportunity for children to learn in small groups. The nursery also benefits from a large, outside space which is very popular with children.

Nursery staff are trained and supported by a designated early years teacher to deliver the Early Years Foundation Stage Framework and they work hard to ensure children develop into self motivated and enthusiastic learners.

I absolutely love sending my child to Buckinghams in Leek. My child loves to go and is always very excited to be there. It has taught my child to be more social with children. I do wish that there was more pre school learning for my childs age group, two years and above, as I know my child will 100
per cent respond to the learning. I want my childs ability to be met by much more. However an excellent nursery, excellent staff. Thank you guys for such an amazing place for my child.

My daughter started at Buckinghams in July 2019, and whilst leaving her in the care of others breaks my heart, I am so happy with the progress she has made at Buckinghams. She can do new things on a daily basis like touch her head/toes and says a new word every week. My daughter has also developed socially
going from being extremely shy to being confident with strangers and waving goodbye going into the nursery. The only negative I have with the nursery (not specific to Buckinghams either) is the food options. A lot of food on offer has added sugar - cereals/ snacks, and whilst the nursery was excellent and accommodated my request for no added sugar porridge/fruit puddings etc I feel with the selection available in supermarkets at the moment this should not be a special request but the standard. Overall, my daughter is enjoying and progressing very well at this nursery and I feel like I have made the right decision for my child.

Every day my daughter goes to nursery happy and is greeted with smiles by the staff team who are amongst the hardest working and energetic people I know and I cannot praise them highly enough. Fun and engaging tasks are always planned and have helped my daughter hit her early learning milestones as
well as improve her social and emotional development. There are a plethora of activities and opportunities for outdoor learning, roleplay and ICT and the facilities are exceptional. My daughter will come home and say that she has been an astronaut, builder and a firefighter and she is more imaginative and creative each day she attends. The menu is healthy and contains lots of options. An update is always given when I pick my daughter up at the end of the day and I am usually told she has had seconds.


The management of the nursery is also incredible & they have robust safeguarding policies in place.


I am confident that this is the absolute best childcare provider that a child & parent could wish for.

My Child attends this nursery since he was 6 weeks old. They have always taken fantastic care of my son. I have seen him grow and develop every year and they have assisted him in having the absolute best start in life. A special mention to the early years teacher that is a credit to the company.

We are very pleased with this nursery for our daughter. Having never sent a child to nursery before we were obviously very apprehensive but the staff were very supportive, encouraging and caring and our daughter soon settled well. She now absolutely loves nursery and all the staff are incredibly friendly.
She is always doing lots of activities that we wouldn't do at home. We would highly recommend this nursery.

My little boy has been at Buckinghams for seven months now and he absolutely loves it. I love the personalised service you receive, everyone knows my child from the workers in his room, to the management, to the receptionist, to the chef. They are friendly and genuinely care about the children. The
staff are always interested in my boy’s life outside nursery and are hugely supportive of his development. The nursery setting is second to none that I have seen; it is clean, bright and child-focused. The resources are amazing and the EyLog is great. My little boy is very attached to me but will run into his nursery room without worrying about me leaving him. When I collect him at the end of the day, I can see him in the room and he’s always having a whale of a time. For a first time mother leaving her child at nursery, I just wanted to feel he was safe, happy and cared for; Buckinghams goes above and beyond in delivering that. Highly recommended.

My daughter has been going to Buckinghams nursery since being 6 months old, she’s now 3 years old. She loves nursery and all the staff love her too. They truly treat her like one of their own. I know they look after her and treat her so well. They do great activities every day and she’s never bored.
The food is amazing always different healthy choices each day. This nursery is definitely the best in Leek and that’s with thanks to all the staff in all the rooms and of course the manager and her team at the top. Well done ladies, keep up the great work. My daughter will miss you all when the time comes to go to big girl school. I would highly recommend this nursery to all other parents. It’s clean, fun, great equipment and the most important your children are well looked after.

Our 3-year-old son has been attending since he was 1 year old and has progressed really well each year. He enjoys telling me about his day on the way home and is excited about the activities he has done. Having playtime with kids of a similar age has been invaluable and all the members of staff (especially
his key workers) have always been very friendly towards him, making him feel welcome each morning even on mornings when he doesn't necessarily want to leave the house! I would highly recommend the nursery to anyone.

My son has been in nursery for one month already and has settled in really well. He loves toys and activities throughout the day. The staff are great with him and really helped him to settle in. We had signed up to the nurseries already and I couldn't settle until we came here and it just clicked. It
ticked all the boxes for us. It's welcoming, friendly, safe, fantastic rooms, amazing outdoor space, rocking chair for babies that need help to sleep, cots for babies, sensory toy and a great menu. All these things I was looking for and found this nursery.

My son has recently started on the baby room. He has been struggling to sperate from me. The staff have offered comfort to him and now after 3 weeks, he is able to separate from me positively. He already has strong bonds with his keyworker, who he will seek out for support. He obviously feels he is
safe with her and enjoys her company.
He loves exploring the room, especially the tunnel and sensory lights. I am very happy with the nursery.

My son has attended children 1st @ Buckinghams nursery for over a year now. I have always been more than satisfied with the nursery as a whole. The staff are all pleasant and attentive to each child and all seem to enjoy their job which is lovely. There is a variety of food available and plenty of activities

Since joining Buckinghams my daughter and son have developed in so many ways. I would say they are more confident and balanced. My twins love all the staff and enjoy going. I have actually done this. I recommended to a colleague at work who was moving to the area. She took up on this straight away without looking at any other nursery's in the area due to the comments I made. Well deserved. My child is cared for in all her needs very well.

Hello my name is Nicola Hardy I am the Manager @ Children 1st @ Buckinghamsl.


As well as working full time I am also a Mum of two Children Louis who is 13 and Molly who is 8 both of my children attended nursery from the age of Nine months old I feel this has been a great start for my children socially and intellectually.


I started my career in childcare 26 years ago and have experienced various roles working with all age groups within our nurseries.


A deputy position came up within the company this would potentially be a great move I was a successful applicant and I started my new position in October 2016.


I was given the opportunity to develop myself as a Manager. I have found this move a great experience
Since working with Children 1st I have been able to continue my training completing a NVQ Level Three in customer services.


During my time with children 1st I have become more confident and have developed skills in all aspects of my job role


I have a passion and am fully committed to providing high quality day care and education to all our children. And for caring for children and their families, ensuring that they are happy and settled whilst attending our setting.
