My oldest boy has just started school after 4 years at The Teddy Bear Nursery Club. He absolutely loved his time here and frequently complained he only got to go for 2 days! My youngest child initially struggled to settle at nursery and I couldn't speak highly enough of the staff who are so kind and
enthusiastic and go above and beyond to get to know your child to help them to settle. The staff retention is fantastic and it has been lovely to have the same staff caring for my youngest now.

Fantastic nursery. The staff are incredible. My boys really enjoy their time there. The children are outside pretty much every day and learn to discover the world around them. The activities the nursery offer the children are varied from painting with leaves and cars to jumping rainbow puddles and making
mud pizza. The food at the unreserved is excellent and my boys tend to eat better and a wider variety at nursery. Now at preschool, the days are more structured, but still leave plenty of time to play. Primary school teachers have commented on how well the nursery prepares the children for school.

Fantastic nursery with caring staff. My daughter runs into this nursery every day excited to see her friends and staff, which she never did at her previous nursery. Since she has been at this nursery, her personality and confidence have grown even bigger. I feel at ease when I leave her at the nursery
that she is in safe hands.

Every night I go in I get a rundown of all the things she has done in her day and she loves to tell me all about it. The nursery provides a wide variety of activities and events throughout the year. Parents receive monthly newsletters and it is always displayed in the nursery any upcoming events. My daughter will be going to school next year but even after she is no longer in the nursery, I will still be highly recommending it to friends and family.

A fantastically fun (and safe) learning environment! The comforting team have helped my child grow. My child enjoys this nursery so much he talks about his friends and staff most nights of the week, and he is excited in the mornings when he is getting ready to go!

Fantastic Nursery! There's always somebody available to give my granddaughter a cuddle first thing in the morning so she stays happy. Great outdoor facilities and kids can go outdoors whenever they want. Food is fantastic and very varied and healthy. Staff are very friendly and nice.

I have sent all three of my boys to Teddy's - age 4, 2 and 10 months and believe there to be no better place for them. It's always a wrench leaving your young children but staff are caring, warm, humorous and helpful. Parents are informed of menu changes, included in events often to fundraise and made
to feel part of something greater than a transaction for child care.

The history of Teddy's dates back decades - one of my mother's friends who worked at the hospital nearby sent her children there almost 20 years ago. It has a reputation as one of Dundee's best nurseries and it most definitely is.

I researched other nurseries before my eldest attended and this one. I feel that passion, care and loyalty should be rewarded and wholeheartedly champion Teddy's and its staff from management to teachers and the much-loved cook.

My eldest daughter just started school after 4 years attending "The Teddy Bear" full-time, so when the time came for my two youngest to start nursery, without a doubt I chose it again.

Since then, I have come to know all the staff, as well as the managers and they have become my team, allowing me

to do my job everyday without a worry. I know they are being taken care of by the best. They know my children. They know when they are happy, sad, ill or grumpy and they know how to deal with them in every situation. They always go one step forward, so when my eldest showed an interest in writing, they sat with her to give her new words to try every day and she started P1 writing beautifully, even when that was not part of the nursery’s curriculum.

The location is great, as well as the rooms and gardens, but the staff is what makes this nursery what it is. I can't recommend it enough.

We have used The Teddy Bear Club since our son was 8 months old and he is now 4 and a half! The staff and managers are fantastic, they provide wonderful opportunities for him and have supported his development so well.

We are so thankful to all the girls who have become a part of our family as they

look after him almost full-time during the week, and have helped him become the great wee boy he is now. Can highly recommend the nursery, flexible, longer hours for working parents, with top class, well-trained staff, who really do go above and beyond.

Current Review Score: 9.0 (9.039)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.0 (9.039) out of 10 for Busy Bees Dundee Hospital is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.2 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.813 for Busy Bees Dundee Hospital is calculated as follows: ( (78 Excellents x 5) + (18 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 96 Ratings = 4.813

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.226 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Busy Bees Dundee Hospital is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 94 number of registered child places is 18.8. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 18.8 = 0.426

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
