My grandson has gone to this nursery for three years and is about to go to school. I can only say that they have been excellent. The staff, through all the rooms, have been caring and friendly and nothing seems to be too much trouble for them. I haven't had much to do with the endangerment team, but
they always seem friendly when I come in, with a big smile and say hello. I will miss coming to nursery, but I wanted to thank them all for all their hard work and for looking after my grandson so well.

My son has been at St Gabriels for just over 2 years and we have always been impressed with the level of care and service that he receives. As a parent looking for a suitable nursery during the crazy time of the pandemic, we knew immediately St Gabriels was the right one for us, as the warmth of the
staff and transparency of daily routines gave us instant reassurance. He has enjoyed moving up through the rooms and we have enjoyed getting to know all of the staff as they have helped him grow and develop. Making strong connections with his key workers as they have played a big role in his time there. We look forward to sending our youngest there in January and I know this will help to ease me with the transition of going back to work.

My three-year-old daughter has attended the setting since she was three months old, and I can’t say enough about the care and attention St Gabriel’s provides her. My daughter skips into the nursery, and the tired child I get back every evening has tales of wonder and laughter and happiness - it truly
is her favourite place. I can’t thank the team enough for what they have done for my little girl- she truly loves her happy place. The manager and deputy manager are wonderful and very helpful - nothing is too much bother - they go above and beyond with me and my daughter. The girls, likewise, they too do more than I expect. Yes, there are some gripes, but considering what we get back, they are very, very minor!

St Gabriels Nursery Gosforth is a great nursery with an outstanding approach to childcare. Both my son and my daughter have been privileged to attend the setting and the care and attention showered on them has been nothing short of wonderful. They truly make my child feel loved, so much that they run
to start the day at nursery and cry whenever they have to leave. It’s an absolute pleasure to see the happy faces whenever I pick up. Handovers are great and I am always informed of changes to routines and anything of interest. The staff seem happy and supported and genuinely seem to care for my daughter and my son when he attended. I can’t recommend them enough!

St Gabriel’s has a prefect location and is purpose built. So first impressions are excellent. However, the management are not the best in communicating with parents.
And if you have a complaint they always have an excuse. And make you feel like you are complaining over nothing. They are not very accommodating
if you urgently need help (we have no family here).
You provide nappies and wipes even though they are the most expensive nursery setting in the area. Again mentioned many times but never acknowledged.
A number of parents have made valid suggestions in the past and nothing has been done. The desserts were changed from high sugar items to fruits for a short time.
A number of times my child’s bum wasn’t wiped properly/checked.
No aprons when painting and numerous clothes are stained.
Everything is talked about in front of other parents, sometimes sensitive issues.
No air con, very very hot in the summer months.

Thank you for taking the time to write such a candid review and meeting with us on Wednesday 12th July to discuss.

We do hope you feel the meeting went well, and your concerns were addressed fully. We always strive as a management team to be approachable and present, however, from our conversation it was apparent that you considered this method was the only way to get your points across. In the meeting you highlighted that you were happy with the team and the setting, and you wished for your children to remain at the nursery.

As a team we always look to continually improve our service for our children, they are the reason we strive to be better - we do welcome all suggestions - parent partnerships are very important to us and we are setting up our parent forum to get feedback in a more structured and consistent basis.

We have also taken the time to send you a private email that addresses each individual concern in detail, rest assured all concerns you have highlighted in your review are taken seriously and addressed immediately.

We feel these are best addressed privately than on a public forum, and hopefully you feel we have acknowledged your concerns with the utmost gravitas, in person and in writing. We will check in regularly with you to ensure we are meeting your expectations, and we thank you for the opportunity to be able to continue our working relationship.

We are thrilled with the care our daughter is receiving at St Gabriels. They are caring, attentive and keep us well informed of all she has done that day. They prepare amazing sensory, crafts and music activities for the children. The facilities are exceptionally well designed to encourage fun and learning.
Our little girl settled in so quickly and is excited to go there.

My daughter started at St Gabriel's two days a week when it first opened in September; she was five months old at the time. From the moment she started I have felt confident that she is being well cared for and as her needs have changed so has what has been provided. She now attends full time and we
always pick up a happy, confident, satisfied, albeit slightly tired, girl.

Her weaning has gone extremely smoothly thanks to the excellent interaction and relationship I am able to have with the staff and her days are filled with appropriate and stimulating activities. The staff are all knowledgeable, friendly and approachable and the facilities are fantastic. She has already changed so much since she started and I really look forward to seeing her grow up with the staff and facilities at St Gabriel's.

We are so pleased that we chose St Gabriel's Gosforth for our children. Having moved from the sister nursery we were worried it wouldn't live up to our high expectations, but we are really happy with it. The facilities are stunning and the staff friendly and welcoming. The management team have been
brilliant at addressing queries promptly. Above all our daughter is happy and has come on leaps and bounds in her learning since starting. Her individual needs are also met very effectively.

Current Review Score: 8.0 (7.979)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.0 (7.979) out of 10 for St Gabriels Nursery Gosforth is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 5 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 3.5 out of 5 from 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.458 for St Gabriels Nursery Gosforth is calculated as follows: ( (41 Excellents x 5) + (8 Goods x 4) + (7 Satisfactorys x 3) + (2 Poors x 2) + (1 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 59 Ratings = 4.458

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 3.521 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for St Gabriels Nursery Gosforth is based on 4 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 = 3.375

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 137 number of registered child places is 27.4. 4 Positive Reviews ÷ 27.4 = 0.146

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
