The Woodlands Nursery and Pre-school is a beautiful home from home setting dedicated to offering the highest quality of care and education for children aged 6 weeks to 8 years.

The quirky little setting is located in the Old Chapel on Mill Lane, naturally submersed in history and culture. The building itself oozes charm and charisma. The environment is highly resourced to promote a love of learning and curiosity for knowledge, all delivered through exploratory play. The team recognise that all children are unique, and they learn and grow in their own special way. It is through Woodlands' Concept curriculum that they are able to offer stimulating development opportunities to support all children in their early years journey, all coordinated by a fully qualified Teacher.

My 2-year-old granddaughter has attended The Woodlands since being a baby. First and foremost, the staff's priority is always to the well-being, support and early years education of each child in their care. The team at the nursery provide outstanding learning methods appropriate for each age group,
be it in an educational or behavioural way, eg. forming relationships, behavioural or simply using table manners. Each child has opportunities to learn in both fun and fact-based settings giving them a wide range of experiences whilst learning. Trips out are arranged regularly, again, providing alternative ways to learn. My granddaughter looks forward to attending nursery and whatever activities will be there for her. I cannot praise the staff or setting enough for their constant commitment to each and every child.

A fantastic setting with which every day my daughter is learning not only how to bond with others but also about the world. She learns, touches, tastes and feels what the world has to offer through the setting and their education activities. Some days my daughter is asking to go to “nursy” as she calls
it and calls everyone their her friends. A true place where laughter and smiles are created knowing that my daughter is safe and being taken care of.

My son used to be quiet and wouldn't say much. He's come out of his shell so much since starting. Now he's getting to go to school in September, I'm glad he went to this nursery. I highly recommended this nursery

Wonderful setting with amazing, caring and just lovely staff. My son is excited to go from the minute he wakes up, the first thing he asks me is ‘is it nursery today?’ I have nothing but the absolute best to say about the whole experience at The Woodlands. 100% happy with the setting and my child loves the nursery. He always comes back happy and enjoys his day. The staff are friendly and informative and I like the fact it's not a huge setting. I feel that my son is really well cared for.

My son went to Woodlands for a year before school and he had the most wonderful time with workers who truly cared for him and got to know and appreciate him, as an individual. The setting is homely but the curriculum is impressively varied and creative. My son always enjoyed the home-cooked teas, the
outdoor play areas and all the many different things he learned about. I was confident and happy to leave my son in this setting where he thrived and made great friends.

Wonderful, friendly nursery and preschool, it was perfect for the transition for my little boy from preschool to starting reception at primary school. Strong emphasis on outdoor activities. Project-based learning so they would explore a topic over the course of a week or two.

The Woodlands collect my child from school every fortnight on a Friday and they do so with the utmost care. The nursery has always been amazing to us since she started back in 2019, until now. They are an extension to our family and I will always recommend these ladies to take care of the children in
the community.

Lorna Marshall

Job Title: Director of Education

I am a qualified teacher for children aged 3-7. This gives me the knowledge and experience to implement our educational curriculum in a way that supports children through their early years journey and will stay with them throughout their school transition and beyond. I am extremely passionate about our children gaining experiences in our settings far beyond the realms of a typical nursery or preschool so that our children develop a love of learning, exploring and being curious about the world around them.


Outside of work I am a mummy to two daughters aged 10 and 2 years old who keep me on my toes but also my inspiration for my career. We love the theatre, animals big and small and camping. We are big foodies so enjoy going to different restaurants together after one of our little family adventures. As I get older I am trying to travel more and experience new places and culture.
