Children 1st Hathern Nursery School is conveniently situated on the main A6 road in the heart of the village. Under Children 1st ownership since June 2017, the nursery is being refurbished to offer children from birth to five years a warm, welcoming and stimulating learning environment, both indoors and out.

Partnership with parents are important at Children 1st @ Hathern. With positive relationships in place the children soon settle and feel positive and secure. Staff are friendly, welcoming and approachable and know that such close cooperation helps the children to make good progress in their all-round development.

The children at Hathern benefit from playing and growing in well-organised enabling environments, where the staff team are committed to providing high-quality provision.

My child started the nursery in January.
I am very pleased and happy with everything at the nursery from the wonderful staff to meals and selection of toys and outdoor space.
My son has settled in lovely and I am definitely seeing some development in him, in particular his speech. He is coming out
with new words often. This is something that is a concern for me as he is behind with his speech so to hear him say more words is brilliant.

Cannot fault the nursery staff, looked around in August and fell in love with the nursery. They have been so supportive and reassuring during the time my son has been settling in. Was always going to be hard but I truly believe if it wasn’t for the staff it would have been so much harder. The nursery
setting is lovely, I have nothing but confidence that I will see my son’s development and confidence build in the next few months because of Children 1st. A very happy parent and would recommend this nursery without a doubt.

Children 1st @ Hathern is a great, well-rounded nursery. My little boy has been going since 4 months old, so has moved through all the rooms and he absolutely adores all the staff who have all made personal relationships with him.
Cannot recommend them enough.

The staff are all very friendly, helpful, and attentive. They have put us at ease and given regular updates and photos of our baby. He absolutely loves nursery and is developing really well too. I love that he gets to be involved in some of the activities, even being so much younger than the rest of
the children. It melts my heart seeing all the photos posted on the app and getting paintings that he has completed. It means so much that the nursery have supported us all through this transition.

Exceptional care, nurturing staff and a wonderful learning environment make Children 1st a lovely nursery in our area. Our child enjoys it here and has settled in very well, after our oldest child also attended here and loved it before starting school. Highly recommend!

Children 1st in Hathern is nothing less than incredible. From the moment we got shown around there we could not believe how we got so lucky to have such an amazing nursery on our doorstep. The staff are so friendly and as a first-time mum, they really did reassure me and put my mind at rest about all
my worries about bringing my little boy into nursery full-time. Fast forward four months later and I still talk about how amazing the nursery is to all my friends and family. The manager is exceptional, a great person to talk to and you can tell she is so genuine and caring about every child. I knew instantly that I wouldn’t find a better nursery than this. My little boy cannot wait to go to nursery every morning and it’s all thanks to the manager and her amazing staff. I’m one happy mum with one very happy boy thanks to them!

The staff and management team are amazing, they have all the time in the world for the children, so nurturing and calming. I would 100% recommend this nursery! As a first time mum going back to work I was very nervous about leaving my baby, but the nursery has been amazing! The settling in sessions are great and they really take the time to learn about your baby! I love that you get pictures, really helps you feel better
and the daily book entries are great!
The nursery is really friendly, everyone says hello and knows your baby! My baby has grown so much in confidence since starting and has settled in really well, the staff are just amazing with her!

Very bright and colourful nursery. All the staff are so nice and kind.

I moved locality and changed my children nursery, which was a hard transition, but the staff at Children 1st have done all they could to make it easier, supporting the children to settle and also reassuring me as a mother.
Nothing is ever too much trouble, the staff always work hard to work alongside
the parents and deliver the best possible care.
Only moved a year ago and already feel part of the family.

My son started at the nursery in April 2022. Since he’s been there we’ve had a diagnosis of ASD. The nursery has been so supportive of us, as a family.
They’ve understood my son, made his journey a happy, interesting and safe one. They really have that inclusive family feeling there, I’d recommend
anyone to use the nursery, I only have positive things to say and will remember my son’s time there with great fondness.

My son has been attending for roughly two years and spent most of it pretty nonverbal but his needs were always met and he’s come on loads lately, ready to start school. Staff are lovely although the only negative I would have is at one point in the year staff turnover was quite high which perhaps didn’t
help with my son's shyness but other than that, I cannot fault the place. I’d happily send my child here.

Since my daughter started coming to the nursery in August 2020 I feel like my daughter has rapidly grown and gained valuable personal skills. I strongly believe if my daughter had not come to this nursery then she would not be as developed as she currently is. My daughter likes coming to the nursery
and has made lots of friends since coming here. The staff have made myself and my partner feel at ease since day one with regular end of day handovers and daily updates on what my daughter has been doing throughout the day.

My 10-month-old baby has recently started nursery at Children 1st @ Hathern following my return to work from maternity leave. The whole process was stress-free and has made me feel confident that my little boy will be in safe caring hands. The staff who look after him are just lovely and I can tell
that they have a true passion for what they do and a real interest in the children they look after. My little boy has settled in so well and is happy for me to leave him in the mornings which is a huge relief when I have to rush off to work. The nursery itself is really well set out with rooms for each age group and lovely gardens too, especially the big garden which I'm sure he will love to explore as he gets older. Thank you to all the staff for their hard work and dedication.

Under the new management of the nursery, my child has come on leaps and bounds.

I have worked in various roles in nursery and in the training department before realising my dream of becoming a Nursery Manager in our Long Eaton Nurseries, before transferring to Children 1st @ Hathern.
