Jesters Childcare has a fantastic purpose-built nursery on the outskirts of the city of Chelmsford nestled right next to the Beaulieu Park School, the first 'Through School' in Essex!

The nursery has three large bright and airy rooms dedicated to nurturing babies; curious toddlers; and preparing for smooth transitions to school in Deer Pre-School Classroom.

Jesters’ play spaces are innovative and mentally stimulating. They are thoughtfully and professionally designed to be highly enabling for children to develop whilst having fun. Beaulieu is blessed with a large wrap around garden outdoor play space which is utilised whatever the weather.

As a parent, choosing the right nursery for your child is such a daunting and nervous time, but I have been so impressed with Jesters Day Nursery and Pre-School. Having already seen how well my nephew thrived, this gave me comfort and confidence that choosing Jesters was the best decision for my own
child. The staff are amazing, they always communicate well with us and keep us fully updated on how our child is doing each day. My child loves going in and it is very clear that he has such a great bond with his teachers. Since starting Jesters, his learning and development has just grown and grown. As parents, we could not be prouder of how well our child is doing and how well cared for he is by all staff.

Jesters Day Nursery and Pre-School Beaulieu is a lovely nursery. Both of my sons have attended and they have thrived under their care. The staff are always very welcoming, warm and caring. Safeguarding measures are excellent. We receive regular updates of activities throughout the day on the app, and
at pick-up we get a brief summary of our child's day from staff. My oldest son has recently started Primary School and the transition was very easy with the skills and confidence he gained at Jesters. I would highly recommend this nursery.

We were a bit nervous about sending our child to nursery at first but within a couple of weeks, we saw how settled he became and he was so excited to go in each morning. He absolutely idolises his key workers and has made some lovely friendships with the other children. Jesters Day Nursery are good
at keeping the app up to date with our child's activity throughout the day and we get a full debrief when we come to collect him. Whenever we have any concerns or questions, the staff have always gone above and beyond to help/advise us. I wholeheartedly trust the staff with the safety and welfare of our child. Jesters is perfect for our little boy and I would definitely recommend them as a nursery.

Average experience. Little consistency in staffing, heavy reliance on agency, and staff get shifted between rooms and sites - at times would question ratios with qualified staff. Poor facilities, often untidy outside and many blankets, toys and books left outside overnight. Unlikely to be cleaned. No
good outside facilities compared to neighbouring nurseries. Overly ambitious food menu for little tummies, expensive surplus for funded 3-4-year-olds. Individually staff are nice and capable but would appear little resource to support staff needs or new staffing and old toys and resources used for children which would make things difficult.

We appreciate that not everyone finds that the nursery is suitable for them but this review is prejudicial and it is disappointing that the reviewer has seen fit to try to tarnish a reputation built on strong principles of excellent childcare, a focus on safeguarding and providing a home from home environment for the children entrusted to our care with little regard for evidence or accuracy.
Our doors are open for you to meet our staff, view our facilities, sample our menus which are provided by a leading child nutrition company and talk to staff about ratios and hygiene controls.

The staff at the nursery are all so friendly and always professional. They genuinely care about my son, and his key workers have all been amazing. As a mother on her own, the support from this nursery is everything to me. They support my son's learning, and he is so happy there. He forms friendships
and learns valuable social skills. The meetings to discuss his progress are regular and well thought out. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this nursery. For my son and I, it is a real source of happiness in our lives. We love the nursery and all the staff.

I was nervous at first about dropping my one-year-old daughter to nursery. The staff were so welcoming and accommodating to help her settle in. They plan a diverse range of activities throughout the day, including outdoor play, painting, water play, and reading/singing/dancing.
I love how the garden
is a shared space, so my daughter was able to interact and learn from older children as well as her peers.
The food is good quality and varied, and the nursery is now in constant open communication with parents about taking feedback and further improving nursery provisions.
They have recently removed the term-time-only provision, which is a shame.
The nursery has recently launched a new app to provide live daily updates. The use of this app has been a little bit slow and inconsistent, however, it is improving as they get to grips with the software.
One lady at Jesters (who was in Fawn's room) is particularly wonderful, and my daughter adores her.
Overall, definitely recommend.

My children have absolutely thrived in this setting. All staff are so friendly and truly care. The food is varied and nutritious. When we drop our children off, they run into the nursery, and we don’t worry, as it feels like we are dropping them off to family.

We moved our daughter to Jesters after a poor experience with a nearby nursery. We have been delighted by how our daughter has settled in and loves her time there. The management team have navigated some difficult challenges during the pandemic and have had to find their feet, but the care our child
has received has remained outstanding throughout. She skips into ‘school’ (as she calls it) and is always smiling when she leaves, which gives us total confidence she is being entertained and nurtured throughout the day. After some initial technical stumbles with their new ‘app' system, the reports as to how she’s doing come through regularly and with sufficient detail for us to trust the team have everything in hand, and we’re very pleased with how it works. All of the team know our daughter by name, and it’s clear they care about her progress and wellbeing. Special thanks to one lady, who she adores. Thanks, Jesters.

My role at Jesters is Beaulieu Manager and SENDCO (Special Educational Needs & Disabilities Co-ordinator). I started my career at Jesters in the Fawns Baby Room as a Practitioner, and after a few months, I was promoted to Room Leader in Squirrels. Following on I worked my way to Deputy Manager and now Manager. I am lucky enough to be surrounded by wonderful mentors who have helped me grow my leadership and management skills, as well as sharing years of childcare and education knowledge.


The reason I chose Jesters is because of the feeling of home it provides me, I feel inspired and enthusiastic about every day, and I can tap into many different areas of my training within my roles. I love being part of the children’s journeys, supporting and encouraging them to meet their next steps, creating wonderful activities and creating a home-from-home environment. I have been supported through every new role that I have undertaken at Jesters.
