Pear Tree Nursery, West Road is run from a large Victorian house on 1 West Road, Haddington. The building is set over 2 floors and caters for 3 months to school age.

They have a separate ‘coach house’ within the grounds for their younger babies (age 3 months to up to 2 years). They have a large completely enclosed garden and a car park at the front of the nursery for visitors. There is a bus stop directly opposite the nursery. Pear Tree Nursery West Road gives children the chance to learn about the world in a stimulating and fun learning environment.

Staff ensure parents are given up to date information on their child's progress each day.

Highly-skilled and caring staff offer children a variety of adult-led activities as well as the space for young children to enjoy child-initiated play.

I have found the staff at Pear Tree West Road a pleasure to deal with, attentive, excellent communication, friendly and my daughter adores all of them! I know she is in safe hands and has a fantastic time daily, is well fed and enjoys a variety of different activities daily.

My daughter has been with Pear Tree for almost 3 years and has continued to enjoy her experience throughout her journey through the rooms. The staff are brilliant throughout, friendly, caring and fun. I would highly recommend Pear Tree West Road to anyone looking for quality childcare in the area.

Pear Tree West Road has been so good to my daughter over the years. She has been supported in her learning and structured transitioning between rooms has made her moves easier. I was so pleased with the help and support we got when potty training, the encouragement she received was great. The variation
in activities from going out on walks, playing in the garden, messy play, learning games etc makes her have a huge smile on her face. The range of food seems to be good and healthy. We are kept informed and the communication from the nursery is pretty good. All in all very happy with this nursery.

Absolutely love this nursery. The staff are so friendly and nurturing towards my child and she gains so much from attending. The activities are great and they always do seasonal ones which is cute. The staff truly care about the children and keep them safe and happy. My child has learned so much from

My granddaughter started nursery at Pear Tree in January 2024. She has thoroughly enjoyed being in the Baby room and the 18-24months room. She has developed considerably over this period of time. This includes her ability to play and interact with others, her speech and her physical and cognitive development.
We have found the staff friendly, communicative, professional and diligent. I would have no hesitation in recommending this nursery to others.

Pear Tree Nursery is a fantastic nursery. My little one has been here since she was 7 months old and she's been very happy there. Staff are extremely helpful and accommodate to all her needs. She loves her teachers and I can clearly see that they enjoy working in the nursery and interacting with the
children. Any time I mention anything to improve, the staff takes it seriously and makes things better. I highly recommend it.

My little boy has attended Pear Tree Nursery (West Road) for several months now. The staff are absolutely fabulous they are fun, attentive and nurturing. My little boy runs into the nursery each day and is always greeted with a smile by all the staff, Pear Tree isn't a nursery to us it's our little
family leaving my son each day knowing he will be loved, cared for and treated with dignity and respect makes me so happy! The staff are also very good at passing over information including food and fluid intake, nappies etc. We have a few more years at Pear Tree thank goodness. It's a fun and educational environment for my son. Attentive to all his needs also. The best nursery ever, we do love our Pear Tree family. I have also witnessed other nursery rooms within the nursery having awesome fun blowing bubbles making mud pies and running wild in the garden when I come to collect my son, this always makes me smile to see staff actively involved in the play experience. Definitely 5 stars.

My son loves nursery, he runs in happily in the morning and always talks about the staff and children at home when looking through photos from the nursery day. They have so much fun and lots of learning takes place.

The whole team at West Road are really dedicated and hard working, putting in a huge amount of effort with the kids. My daughter loves going every day

The improvements over the last few months have been huge. My 2-year-old loves his time at nursery and has no hesitation going in. The staff are lovely and the activities they do with them are great. Food can be a bit hit or miss but is fine. My only reason for not giving it a five star is due to the
fact they don’t spend much time out of the nursery setting. The garden however is great. We also get really regular updates through the app.

The nursery has been doing some fantastic activities with the children such as incubating eggs and watching tadpoles develop into frogs, which has generated some great conversations around our dinner table. The staff have gone the extra mile by bringing in their own pets (a snake and a lizard) and this
child-led approach is really working.

My daughter started at Pear Tree Nursery West Road at 10 months old when I returned to work last October. I was obviously very nervous about leaving her with strangers three days a week but the team have been fantastic and settled any nerves I had. Seeing how much my wee one enjoys her time there and
how much the staff seem to care about her and her individual needs/wants had made the whole process much easier. I know how hard everyone at West Road has worked recently to overcome some challenges and the results are obvious. I love seeing daily photos and updates from her time at nursery and she normally seems to be having a great time.

My son recently moved up to a new class and the team in the new room couldn't do enough to support his transition.
He is the happiest he has been going to nursery which makes drop off so much easier as a mum having to sometimes rush off to work.
From his time in the room before when he was younger,
the team there were just as incredible and still check on him now which is lovely to see how invested they all are and how much they really care.
Would recommend this nursery to anyone interested in sending their child here.

Pear Tree has obviously had its problems but my son really loves going. They have made a real effort and we have never had any issues personally. The snakes and lizard and visit from RNLI recently made a real impression on him, keep up the good work.

The Staff are amazing, and really provide a safe and stimulating environment for my daughter, who loves going to nursery every day. Joined: 2005

Heather joined Pear Tree Nursery in 2005. Heather has worked in both the 0-2 and 2-3 as the room supervisor until 2011 when she became deputy manager. Heather then stepped into the role of nursery manager in 2012. Heather has her SVQ 3, PDA in childcare and her BA in Childhood Practice and recently completed the Froebel in Childhood Practice course. Heather holds certificates in First Aid and Child Protection Level 2. Heather is also the Child Protection Officer and Health and Safety Officer for the nursery.
