The Review Score of 9.9 (9.881) out of 10 for Gad's Hill School is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.
a) The Average Rating is 5.0 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.
b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.9 out of 5 from 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.
The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:
a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.
The Average Rating of 4.981 for Gad's Hill School is calculated as follows: ( (106 Excellents x 5) + (2 Goods x 4) ) ÷ 108 Ratings = 4.981
b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').
The 4.9 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Gad's Hill School is based on 9 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:
The 5 points available are broken down as follows:
i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.9
ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 32 number of registered child places is 6.4, which has been reached with 9 Positive reviews. Points = 1
When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.
If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Job Title: Head of Kindergarten
Joined: 2015
I studied Early Childhood Studies at Canterbury Christ Church University. After a year working in a nursery, I went on to obtain a PGCE in Primary Education.
I have taught in several Early Years settings and across the primary range.
I believe that a solid educational and behavioural foundation, and a love of learning are some of the most valuable things we can provide for our children. My aim is to ensure this happens against a background of happiness in a safe and encouraging environment. I recognise the importance of staff members working in conjunction with parents to develop well-rounded confident children who are able to achieve a wide range of educational, social and wider goals with notable success.
Job Title: Early Years Foundations Stage Manager
Joined: 2004
I studied Education at Canterbury Christ Church University and went on to obtain QTS specialising in ages 3-7 years. I have also gained a Diploma in Nursery Management and have trained to teach Yoga to children.
I have worked at Gad's Hill for fifteen years and have taught across the primary age range.
I feel it is important to develop positive relationships with parents with effective communication to ensure smooth settling-in to our setting and transitions through the school. I am passionate about supporting each individual child to allow them to become confident independent learners in a caring and nurturing environment.
Job Title: Nursery Teacher
Joined: 2005
I have worked with children for many years, initially as a Teaching Assistant gaining experience in Reception through to Year 3, and going on to be the Nursery teacher after gaining a BA (HONS) Degree in Childhood Studies. Although I found working in the primary school to be invaluable, my passion lies with Early Years. I strongly believe that every child is unique and, learning through play creates the solid foundations needed for all children to succeed.
The nursery itself is nestled in the beautiful orchard of Charles Dickens house, providing children with the opportunity to flourish in all areas of learning but most importantly, for children to be independent, confident and happy.
Job Title: Key Teaching Person
Joined: 2001
I studied Nursery Nursing at Norland Training College, initially working as a Nanny in private households. I had my first job as a Teaching Assistant at Underhill Prep School ( now Sutton Valence Pre-Prep) before having my own children; Ben, now 28 and Emma, 25.
I started working in the Nursery at Gad’s Hill in January 2001. I love being part of a team; including other staff members, parents and the children themselves. I believe by working together we can provide our children with a solid foundation on which to build their future experiences and education.
I feel very lucky to be a part of a child’s early school life and believe if you can make learning fun and engaging, the children will flourish and grow into confident, independent individuals
