Shining Stars Day Nursery - Clare Road offers a homely and nurturing environment where children enjoy exploring, playing and using their imaginations.

Children across the nursery are supported by a dedicated staff team to learn the important skills and milestones in their early years. The nursery team are currently working towards the curiosity approach and are striving to give children a rich learning environment that feels like a home from home.

Set across 3 rooms (babies, toddlers and preschool), the children enjoy welcoming home corners and roleplay areas to develop their imaginations, cosy corners to snuggle up on the sofa and beanbags and read their favourite stories and space to enjoy creative activities, messy activities, water and sand play throughout the day. There are also small sensory rooms located in the upstairs of the nursery that children can enjoy in small groups.

The nursery is lucky to have a cook who provides healthy and delicious home cooked meals and caters for a range of food allergies and dietary requirements across the setting.

The nursery is based in the centre of Halifax, just a 5-minute walk from the train station. Being so central to the town centre, the children have opportunities to visit the Library, Piece Hall, local parks, the outdoor play areas at Eureka Museum and short train journeys.

My eldest child has been attending nursery for 3 years now and my youngest for 3 months. I couldn't recommend this nursery enough. The staff are absolutely brilliant - so dedicated and have such lovely bonds with all the children. My children are getting the best care allowing me and my husband to work
full time still. They absolutely love it!

Amazing nursery! My son is nearly two years and seven months when he joined Shining Stars Day Nursery. It's been only few weeks and he has improved a lot, we are very much happy. The love and affection shown by staff was fabulous, we are very grateful for that. Every day has new activities and they
keep updating us on everything, like what they've eaten, when they've done nappy changes, they upload photos every day. Many thanks to staff for creating an environment in which my child is happier.

My little boy started here at Shining Stars at the beginning of September. He absolutely loves it, so happy when I take him. He's learning new things every time he goes - I get to see through pictures the lovely staff send me. The preschool staff are really lovely, friendly and, most of all, brilliant
with my little boy. Couldn't wish for a better preschool and would highly recommend - five stars from me.

Both of my girls have gone here and the staff are amazing! My youngest is still at Shining Stars and is always excited to go in the morning and always talks about her teachers. I always recommend Shining Stars.

An excellent nursery. My daughter has been there for nearly a month and I can't believe how excited she is to go in every day. The staff are lovely and friendly; they are constantly updating me on the app, whether that be pictures or what she’s eaten etc.

Excellent nursery. Both my children have attended the nursery and have both always been happy and well looked after. The staff are friendly and are always accommodating and happy to help. We receive regular updates throughout the day through photos and updates of what my child has eaten and how long
they have slept. Seeing your child happy helps to put your mind at ease, especially if it's been an emotional drop-off.

They are amazing! From first contact to this very day, they can't do enough, and with ease, as they really know what they are doing, the admin team are so well organised.
If something goes wrong, which it can do when looking after a child, especially one with additional needs, they have a plan before
I even arrive on how best to support.
Every single member of staff in his room is brilliant; they communicate so well via the app or phone, encourage and support interaction and play at every step. His key workers are so keen to try new things or adapt things to make them inclusive.
Really good food knowledge when it comes to allergies etc.
They have such a great space, always doing different things in different areas.
All his care workers always say he seems so happy when they visit, and they can see an improvement in his development since he started.

As a first-time parent, the thought of leaving my baby was very daunting, but as soon as I went to look around Shining Stars and met with the staff, I was immediately put at ease. My little boy loves going to the nursery to learn and play with his friends; he is always learning new skills and is always
excited to tell me about his day. The app provides you with everything you need to know throughout the day, along with pictures of daily activities. The staff not only care for your child and build a bond with them, but they also take the time to get to know you as parents as well. Overall, a fabulous nursery.

Excellent. My two-year-old daughter started nursery a few weeks ago and has developed so much since then. She loves going to the nursery, and she is super excited when she "tells" us about her experience. The staff are really friendly, very helpful and willing to go the extra mile to make sure kids

My son started at Shining Stars after his previous nursery had closed. He’s settled really well and in such a short period of time. The staff are welcoming and promote a welcoming environment to both parents and children leaving me peace of mind that my child is not only safe but happy while I work.
Even though he has only been attending for a few months, I have noticed nothing but good progression in my son's speech and development in all areas.

My son joined in February, and he absolutely loves the nursery. There's plenty for him to do, and the staff are lovely. My son can't stop talking about the staff at home and is always looking forward to go back the next day. My son was nonverbal when he joined, and by months 3-4 was linking sentences.
The effort the staff has put into my son is amazing. I couldn't recommend this nursery enough.

My daughter loved attending Shining Stars. All the staff were so caring and loving. Days at the nursery were filled with fun and educational activities. My daughter really bloomed there, going from a shy little girl to a confident and social toddler. She has some beautiful memories from there.

Shining Stars management and the friendly staff take very good care of my daughter ever since she joined the nursery. Shining Stars is an outstanding nursery. My daughter started at 15 months old. Being the parent, we never worried after leaving her in the nursery. The staff took care of the rest of her day. They offer great early years learning experience, with rooms for various age ranges, and they have several play
areas. They communicate everything and share pictures of what she does in the nursery, very often in the mobile app. We parents enjoy seeing her growth and her activities in the nursery. Highly skilled staff members and management handle the baby's needs and track the learning stages and keep us updated.
Absolutely fantastic nursery in the middle of town.

Couldn't ask for a better nursery. My son is now in toddler, and he loves it. The staff are always available to help and keep me updated and work well with the children, plenty of activities that change regularly to keep them entertained. Modern and very clean. Five-stars plus.

We have sent our daughter to Shining Stars since she turned one, and we couldn't be happier with the progress she has made.
The nursery was very transparent with our child's progress through their app, where we can track progress, her eating, toileting and naps through. They even provide pictures throughout
the day.
Our child was late coming on with her speech, and this was highlighted by the nursery. Working with the nursery, a plan and help were put in place to help develop her, and now she is doing great.
Our child comes home happy every day after nursery, and we couldn't be happier with the service.

Hi, my name is Hannah. I have worked at Shining Stars Day Nursery for 6 years and have been at the Clare Road site for 3 years now.


In 2020 I finished my Early Years Teacher qualification.
During my time here, I worked in the joint toddler and preschool room and then took over as the preschool room leader when the rooms split in April 2021.


I have been deputy manager and nursery SENCO since August 2022 and have completed my Level 3 Early Years SENCO qualification.
