Hardmoor Early Years Centre is a Local Authority Maintained Nursery.

The Centre provides high quality integrated education and full day care, 8.00am-6.00pm, 50 weeks per year for children aged 3 months to 4 years.

There is a highly skilled, dedicated workforce to enable them to achieve the best possible outcomes for children.

The 3 and 4 year old nursery is run by qualified teachers and they accept both 15 and 30 hour funding. For under threes there is a range of childcare options available, including funded hours for eligible 2 year olds.

Funding & Fees Guide for Hardmoor Early Years Centre

  • 3months to 3 years:
    10 hour session 8am-6pm £63.50,
    8 hour session 8am-4pm £50.80,
    10.5 hour session 7.30 -6pm £67.00,
    8.5 hour session 7.30am-4pm £53.30.
    3 years and over:
    10 hour session 8am-6pm £60.00,
    8 hour session 8am-4pm £48.00,
    10.5 hour session 7.30 -6pm £63.00,
    8.5 hour session 7.30am-4pm £51.00.


  • Nursery Education Funding (NEF).
    Children qualify for NEF funding the term after their 3rd birthday, and for some 2 year olds, the term following their 2nd birthday. This funding will be reimbursed on your invoice for the first 15/30 hours of your booked sessions per week. This funding can be taken over 38 weeks or stretched across 50 weeks.
    We are open 51 weeks of the year. Bank holidays and planned closure days are not charged.
    Term time only and all year round options available for all age groups.

  • There is no parking on site between the times of 8:30am and 4:30 pm, however there is parking available on the surrounding roads. Please ensure you park responsibly and with respect for local residents.

I am very impressed with the overall service of the nursery. All of the staff are amazing and experienced - a very understandable team. The nursery provides lots of spaces for activities and so forth. I cannot fault them and I hope they continue down that path.

We love the feeling of space at the nursery, especially all the different outdoor areas for the children to play and learn in.
The staff are wonderful, and the head of the centre has always been amazingly helpful when we’ve had questions or if the children have needed some extra support.

Our son attended Hardmoor from age 1 year through to starting school in September 2023. We were extremely impressed with all aspects of the nursery and truly believe the positive way he has settled into school was largely due to the wonderful time he had at Hardmoor.
Our daughter now attends Hardmoor
in the rabbits base. She has settled in really well. The staff genuinely care, are so attentive and are flexible to each child’s requirements. The outside space is incredible and our daughter loves going to visit the chickens in the allotments. We are very thankful for finding Hardmoor and the wonderful experience they provide.

All three of my children have attended Hardmoor, and my three-year-old daughter is still there. It is such a warm, loving environment with such lovely children where my children have thrived. When my youngest arrived the staff couldn’t wait to see the new addition. It really does have a family feel
here and couldn’t recommend it more. I do regularly do, and have known at least four other families travel a little further to get there! Highly recommend.

My daughter has only just started so I can't speak for the long term yet but currently I am really happy with the level of care she has been given. Even on introduction days, the staff made a real effort to learn her name and her likes and dislikes- I was really surprised to find that everyone seemed
to already know so much about her on her first day! So it's really reassuring that your child will be treated like the individual they are and not as another brick in the wall. Staff are really understanding of dietary requirements also and that it might be hard on the parent! They've all been so sensitive to the need to have updates regarding your child and have never made me feel like a nuisance for checking in.

My son has been at this nursery since he was 1. He started in Rabbits and is now in the preschool (3-5).
Hardmoor worked really closely with us when first settled him in. They listened to how he liked to be soothed and they were really gentle with him. When he moved up to the next base they also worked
to introduce him and did little sessions with him so it wasn’t a massive shock and again when he moved to preschool. My son has come out of his shell so much and it’s amazing to see what he learns. They always have outside play and the woodlands around the nursery are a great setting for adventures alongside the outside learning. I’ve never had an issue in all the time my son has been here. The staff are so friendly and amazing with the kids. They really love their jobs and it shows.

I had a previous child who came to Hardmoor and he did really well so I decided to send my youngest here too. He has settled in well and the teachers are very good with him. I’m pleased with the way they dealt with my child when he was finding it difficult leaving me in the morning drop-off.

Our daughter started in Rabbits in September 2023 and settled in very quickly. The staff are all lovely and seem genuinely to care about her. They are also great at helping us monitor/amend our sleep plans. We love seeing all the fun things she gets up to and we’re all really lucky Hardmoor has such
great outdoor space which she seems to get plenty of use from. Oh and she loves the food enough that they have to keep her at arm's length from the other babies so she doesn’t eat theirs too! A really great nursery and we’re all very happy she’s there.

My child and I have loved Hardmoor. He was in Hedgehogs and is now in the preschool class and he really enjoys his days there. His key workers (in both classes) have been really great. The staff have supported him so well. Under their care I have seen him make leaps forward in terms of his language
as well as his emotional and social development.
The administrative staff are also lovely - so everyone there makes for a really positive and friendly atmosphere.
They run amazing community days where parents can come in with their children, which we always enjoy.
My son has loved the outdoor activities. He plays in the forest, they grow veggies, look after chickens as well as using the outdoor playground equipment.
I would definitely recommend Hardmoor to anyone looking for a nursery or a preschool.

My son enjoys coming to nursery, always talks about his woodland walks, the slide and other activities the staff put on. I always come a bit earlier and peek in the classroom to check how he is getting on and they are always either singing, reading, coming in from outside and all of the children are
laughing having fun. Throughout his time here (started September 2023) I’ve had two opportunities to come into the classroom and engage with him, one was story time and another was their Christmas party which was lovely his first ever one and I experienced it with him. They offer a lot of support and my son loves his key worker, along with all of the other staff of course!
I’ve not had any issues with the staff and any accidents is always raised with the parent and looked after accurately! I’m so glad I chose this nursery my boy has flourished massively and even learned Makaton. My daughter will be starting January 2025 and I’m so excited to see her flourish also! Thank you.

Caring, kind and attentive staff that genuinely care for your child and add such positive impact to their lives. The staff are flexible with your routine and do everything they can to support that. The outside space is very rare for a city nursery and the children get so much opportunity to go out into
it. The food is varied and healthy. The curriculum, even for the smallest years is very varied and exciting. I couldn’t recommend this place any higher.

My son started attending Hardmoor Nursery September 2023 and we have been so happy, I love that there is a big forest area outside for all the kids to explore, inside there are big doors opening to the playground letting lots of fresh air in. The teachers are wonderful and so loving, after 1 week my
son was running through the doors to go play, which made leaving him a little easier! I get pictures weekly showing all the activities they have gotten up to, they are always busy whether it’s playing outside, visiting the chickens, participating in messy/sensory play or with the soft play equipment, each day is something new and exciting. I am so grateful I found this nursery!

My child has been in the baby room since September 2023. I chose Hardmoor for its forest school and the recommendations of friends. The staff are fantastic throughout the whole centre and every member of staff puts the child's needs first. His keyworker is amazing and keeps me updated on anything that
I need to know. I feel happy leaving him every day as I know that he is having the very best experience. My son is very happy to go to Hardmoor every day. They have a very bespoke curriculum that is tailored to individual children. I would highly recommend Hardmoor to anyone.

My son has been in the Rabbits room (for up to two year olds) since November 2022. I've been delighted with the experience so far and so has he. It took him a few weeks to settle in but we were well supported by nursery staff throughout that time and he now gets excited to see the staff and head inside
in the morning. He clearly has a great bond with his keyworker when I see them together and her updates, both verbal and written, show that she understands him well.
I was particularly drawn to Hardmoor Early Years Centre because of their considerable outdoor space and I've loved seeing my son help out with planting seeds and having snack time outside. They get outside in all weathers and I really appreciate that the nursery provides rainsuits for the children in wet weather and sun hats in warm weather. I'm excited for him to get to know the allotment and the chickens as he gets older!

My little girl is in the littlest room and she’s had a lovely time since joining in September 2022. Her key worker is brilliant, she keeps me up to date on everything and my little girl absolutely adores her and the other team members.
My oldest boy went to Hardmoor Early Years Centre too, he’s now
at school. He has a number of complex learning needs that the team at Hardmoor recognised early. They put support in place as soon as they could and led the process for EHCP application prior to school.
The team are amazing and the forest school values are brilliant for my two very outdoorsy children. Would highly recommend.
