Little Forest Folk Wimbledon Village is a fully outdoor forest nursery based in the heart of Wimbledon Common - currently rated OUTSTANDING by OFSTED (Apr 2019). A strict 1:4 ratio of staff to children is maintained at all times, and for all ages - this ensures the nursery can uphold the highest standards of care, safety and education.

The indoor space is located just behind Wimbledon Common Golf Club. Full Day children arrive for a delicious breakfast and some free play time. They then dress for the outdoors and enjoy the short walk to the forest space, meeting their Sessional Day friends along the way. The rest of the day is spent outdoors exploring in nature. The wonderful outside base camp is located on Wimbledon Common, but the nursery also enjoys regular adventure walks around The Common!

Base camp has a combination of forest treats; tree swings, balancing logs, hopscotch disks and slack lines, plus the always popular mud kitchen! There is a sleeping tent for children who need to rest in the middle of the day, plus handwashing stations, nappy change tent, and forest toilets.

Morning snack, lunch and afternoon snack are enjoyed in the forest, around the log circle. Sessional children leave after the afternoons fun & Full Day children have plenty of time for more child led play, before enjoying a delicious dinner in the indoor space, then home time!

The unique forest nursery approach gives children the opportunity to incorporate the EYFS curriculum in a safe and secure outdoor environment, where free play, fresh air, exposure to the natural world and physical activity are an integral part of learning. All children spend their days jumping in puddles, balancing on slacklines and climbing trees - building the core strength which is essential for many areas of further development. As with an indoor nursery, the children's learning and development is observed and assessed.

Management and their team do a fantastic job of looking after our son. They are clearly invested in his well-being and development, always keeping us posted during the day with photos, descriptions of what he did that day, and on a more long-term basis, comments on how he is progressing and his future
development areas. Our son naturally likes to be indoors where everything is clean and dry, and Little Forest Folk has been fantastic for his development as he has developed a great appreciation and love for the outdoors. Every day when he comes home he is happy and tells us what a great day he has had.

My son started at Little Forest Folk Wimbledon Village in September and is really loving it! He is my first child, and this was the first time I had left him alone with someone who was not a family member. I will admit that I was very concerned, but the staff were so welcoming, polite, and reassuring
that my concerns rapidly faded. They were incredibly helpful and accepting of my son's tears (more like screaming) upon drop-off in the first few weeks, but they were readily able to quiet him and constantly kept their app updated throughout the day, which calmed me! They give the children a fun-filled day outside and nutritious meals. We both love and highly recommend the experience at LFF Wimbledon Village.

Our 2.5-year-old son has been going to Little Forest Folk Wimbledon Village since he turned 2. Initially he was going for 2 days a week but we've increased it to 3 days a week as he absolutely loves it! He's happy to be dropped off in the mornings and is happy at pick-up. His creativity and imagination
have also really developed and his vocabulary is advancing well too. I love that there are no screens, and the children spend the majority of their time outdoors. It's obvious the educators pay attention to the children as individuals and provide a nurturing environment for development. I'm so pleased we chose to send our son here rather than a traditional nursery.

The nursery manager and his team consistently show genuine care and kindness toward my son, always coming up with exciting new adventures for him to enjoy. After each day, he's always really positive about his experience and they bring the outdoor fun regardless of the weather. Their thoughtful approach
brings fresh activities that have been instrumental in his growth and learning. It's a nurturing environment that truly supports his journey toward independence.

Little Forest Folk Wimbledon Village is the nursery we always hoped would exist! It's such a wonderful feeling to know that our daughter is outside in the fresh air, looked after by incredibly attentive, knowledgeable and playful staff and being encouraged to roam and explore the natural world. My initial
worry about the children being exposed to the wet and the cold has completely been removed. The set-up ensures the children stay warm and dry but the staff are also incredibly reasonable. If the rain is set in, they head inside to their lovely space. Everything about this nursery experience has been outstanding. The admin communication feels very personal but is also highly efficient, the app integration is great, payments are simple and transparent and the updates throughout the day are consistent and helpful. I cannot recommend this setting highly enough and I sincerely hope that all children return from their nursery days as buoyant, content and engaged as my daughter does.

We were initially hesitant to move our child from his existing nursery but now that he's been doing both nursery and Forest School for over 2 months, we haven't looked back!
Our son (2.5 years old) was outgrowing the space in his nursery and couldn't get enough of being out and about. We also felt
he's more engaged and entertained when mixing with older children so the Forest School set-up is ideal.
We were surprised (and delighted) that he still napped as long in the forest as indoors, which he's consistently been doing to this day.
The practitioners at the school are very attentive and were very patient and supportive with our potty training which did not go to plan initially.
For our curious and adventurous child, Forest School has certainly been a great choice.

This is our second go-round at Little Forest Folk and we couldn't be happier. The staff are so caring, they are truly child-led. My kids could not be more different from one another, and both of them have been extremely happy there. They love being outside, they love the variety of activities and they've
both made some really lovely friends. It's magical!

Our son absolutely loves Forest School and the team at Wimbledon Village. We’ve been so impressed with how the Forest School is run and how creative the team are with play and learning. We’ve noticed our son now loves imaginative play, is very courageous and explorative and as the groups are mixed ages
his confidence in speaking and playing with older children is really good. We highly recommend it.

Current Review Score: 9.6 (9.621)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 9.6 (9.621) out of 10 for Little Forest Folk Wimbledon Village is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.8 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.821 for Little Forest Folk Wimbledon Village is calculated as follows: ( (83 Excellents x 5) + (8 Goods x 4) + (3 Satisfactorys x 3) + (1 Poors x 2) ) ÷ 95 Ratings = 4.821

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.8 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for Little Forest Folk Wimbledon Village is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 20 number of registered child places is 4, which has been reached with 8 Positive reviews. Points = 1

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.

Since moving to Worcester Park, he has discovered the natural beauty of the Hogsmill Nature Reserve and enjoys regular walks here with his fiancé and daughters. Jamie has a real passion for early years and believes the great outdoors is imperative to children's development.

Job Title: Forest Educational Lead

Paula is passionate about education and has spent the last 18 years in the primary sector. Whilst this has been a wonderful experience, she believes it does not always allow the time and space for children to naturally interact with the outside world. Paula believes that allowing children to take the lead in key areas of their learning, helps them to foster independence, encourages them to explore their interests and offers children a unique, hands-on experience that fosters curiosity, resilience, and a deep connection with their environment. Paula is very excited to join the Little Forest Folk Team so that she can plan for lessons that naturally fit into the outdoor environment, encourage projects that require children to observe, interact with, and learn from their environment, and teach children about the cycles of nature and the different flora and fauna they encounter throughout the year.

Paula loves the outdoors and, because she doesn't have a garden of her own, spends a lot of her free time at her allotment, growing a wide array of flowers, fruits and vegetables. Paula especially loves the sound of the wind through the trees and finds being in a woodland a very calming experience - something she feels is especially important for children and adults, in an increasingly digital world. When she is not on her allotment, Paula loves to read, take short breaks to explore the world and go for long walks among the Surrey Hills.
