Monkey Puzzle Chesham meets the needs of babies and young children, with large, bright open plan rooms, a creative outdoor play area and a variety of modern equipment providing children with a stimulating environment in which to thrive.

They have a professional, dedicated team, that will use their knowledge to provide stimulating and educational activities that inspire, challenge and engage the children. The nursery atmosphere is loving, friendly and happy and the children at Monkey Puzzle Day Nursery Chesham learn through play, following the EYFS curriculum.

Monkey Puzzle Day Nursery is conveniently located in Chesham Town Centre, next door to Thomas Harding School on Fullers Hill. For parents who commute to London, Monkey Puzzle is conveniently located close to Chesham Train Station. The nursery is set in a converted building and provides high quality facilities for children aged 3 months to 5 years.

The nursery is a 60 place setting with specially designed and equipped rooms for Babies – 3 Months to 1 year, Tweenies – 1 to 2 years, Toddlers – 2 to 3 years and Pre-School- 3 to 5 year. Each of the areas has its own brightly coloured, child-friendly toilets and changing facilities. The nursery also benefits from outside play areas, which are equipped with the latest impact resistant floor surface to ensure peace of mind when the inevitable tumbles occur.

They provide fresh home cooked food to the children, prepared on-site by the experienced Chef. Fees are inclusive of freshly prepared breakfast, lunch, tea snacks and drinks. Daily menus are carefully selected by a professional nutritionist to meet the requirements of growing children.

My daughter has been attending Monkey Puzzle since September 23. The settling-in process was seamless and one my daughter took to. Within a couple of days, she was waving goodbye to us at drop-offs. I have been really impressed with the planned activities which have structure and are aligned with her
development - this is great for working parents who sometimes struggle with this. She adores the staff - often referring to them at home. Overall this is a great nursery and one I have recommended to other parents I know.

My two sons have been attending the Monkey Puzzle Day Nursery Chesham for 1.5 and 1 year respectively. They both settled in well almost immediately and absolutely loved it there. The staff is amazing, they make you and your children very welcome. There is a great atmosphere and you leave the nursery
trusting the children will be well looked after. They had some issues with staff shortages, but I believe the management managed to overcome this.

Our 2 year old son has been attending Monkey Puzzle Day Nursery 5 days per week for the last 8 months and he seems so happy there and it's been so great to see how he has developed in so many ways since starting. The nursery sends us photos each day of the children's activities which include regular
trips to the park as well as fun activities that the staff have arranged. He seems to have really developed socially since attending and we are constantly amazed at the things he has learnt and how his speech has developed. The staff seem to genuinely care about our son and I can see how happy he is to see them each day. As well as all the fantastic care the food options there are really impressive with a varied and nutritious menu available each day. I couldn't recommend this nursery highly enough!

We genuinely couldn’t fault a single thing about Monkey Puzzle Chesham and we’d recommend it in a heartbeat. Our child is so happy there and really thrives in the caring and supportive environment the staff provide for him. The rooms are well equipped with good outside space and lots of different activities,
the food is varied and healthy, the staff take the children out and about regularly, and they keep us updated every day with photos and developmental notes, which we love seeing - it’s been such a joy to see him grow and develop since joining last year and see him get excited about going to nursery in the mornings.

Our daughter joined Monkey Puzzle Day Nursery when she was one year old and she absolutely loved her whole experience with the nursery.
As parents we were so reassured that she was being cared for and we were always updated throughout the day with tales of her activities, food and sleep.
The staff
were always so responsive to her needs and we were really impressed with how quickly she picked up language, confidence and manners under their supervision.
We’d recommend this nursery to anyone looking for a kind and fun place for their child to develop.

My little boy started at Monkey Puzzle Chesham in April 2021, just before he turned a year old when I went back to work. We couldn’t recommend it highly enough! He has had a wonderful time there and has grown in both confidence and ability. All of the wonderful staff made it so easy to start his nursery
journey and for me to go back to work. We particularly love the wide range of activities that the children get to be involved in, the healthy meals that are prepared on site, the brilliant communication via the parent app and the friendly staff. My little one is now two and he walks out our front door in the morning saying, “nursery! exciting!”

Monkey Puzzle have been amazing since my child started nursery almost a year ago. My child was almost 8 months when he started nursery here and like almost all parents I was extremely anxious and nervous about leaving my child at nursery for hours on end.
However, the staff at Monkey Puzzle were fantastic
in helping my child (and myself) settle into his nursery routine. They kept me fully updated throughout the day via the nursery’s app and also provided me with updates at drop off/collection. The regular updates really helped to put my mind at ease. I was lucky that my child settled into the nursery quite quickly (in my mind I thought he would never settle in and I thought he would hate me and not trust me for leaving him). My child would not have settled in so well if it had not been for the care, kindness and patience shown by the staff at Monkey Puzzle. They truly have a great team at this nursery from the management to the nursery room staff all the way to the kitchen staff.

My boys joined Monkey Puzzle in September the same week we moved house so it was a huge transition. I was immediately impressed as the staff are all so friendly. We couldn't be happier with the care and support Monkey Puzzle Chesham have given our son since he joined the baby room in September. Despite suffering the inevitable illnesses that come with starting nursery, particularly for a baby born in lockdown, they helped him to settle in wonderfully. He only
attends two days per week, but within two months we were lucky enough to see him off in the morning with a smile instead of tears and are collecting a happy, waving baby at the end of the day.


The staff form strong, genuine bonds with the children. It is obvious how well they are getting to know him and this is reflected in the feedback they provide. Our baby absolutely loves his food and always has something new to try each week, and plenty of it!


The owners and management team are so approachable and always receptive to feedback and happy to answer any questions we may have. We are already seeing how he is thriving from attending the nursery and we are thrilled with our choice of setting.

We are very impressed with the nursery. Our daughter's been to a couple of nurseries in the area, and at Monkey Puzzle, there's a real sense of family and genuine care and interest in children. My child went to Monkey Puzzle for two weeks. He is outgoing and very social who loves to talk and play with other kids as well as grown-ups. He was extremely unhappy in the period he spent at Money Puzzle. Knowing him we realised that there is something he doesn’t like about the place as he used to
love his previous nursery that unfortunately shut down because of the pandemic. We finally decided not to send him anymore and after we told him, he finally expressed his feelings as he was under no pressure and he said he was ignored by children and grown-ups, kids wouldn’t play with him and he would be left on his crying!

As we have discussed since you submitted your review, your child had attended our setting for three half day sessions over the course of one week, which we feel is an inadequate period of time to make an overall judgement about any setting. Your child was still settling into the nursery having not attended a nursery for 15 months due to COVID. Given some more time we feel your child would have made great progress getting them ready for school and into a new routine. Our staff understand the difficulties many children have faced coming out of the pandemic and provide comfort for all children, especially new joiners. We reviewed the CCTV footage of your child which shows he has been well cared for. At such a young age, children often do not play with one another however, they are always encouraged to play alongside each other to build those social skills. We’re sorry your experience has not been what you had expected.

Cannot recommend Monkey Puzzle highly enough! It's evident that both management and staff really do care about the children. We are updated regularly as to what activities they are doing, as well as updates on my daughter's personal development. It's an open and honest environment and I've never had
any issues with communication.
We also love that the food is freshly prepared and varied, my once fussy eater now tries everything!
My daughter loves going and cannot wait to wave me off in the mornings so she can get on with her exciting day ahead!

I cannot thank the team at Monkey Puzzle enough for taking such good care of my daughter. Even with all of the challenges, they have had to face over the last year of Covid they have made sure that she has felt safe, secure and most importantly happy.
The staff are always warm and welcoming, the inside
and outside space has been really thoughtfully designed and activities are imaginative and fun. There’s lots of messy play which means I don’t feel so bad about avoiding it at home! The food also looks amazing.
The app they use is brilliant for managing communication and means we get to see photos of what she has been up to as well as find out what she’s eaten (or not eaten!). It also documents development milestones.
I would 100% recommend it to anyone in the area.

I cannot recommend Monkey Puzzle Chesham highly enough. My daughter had a very difficult time settling at nursery due to shyness (which was quite extreme maybe due to lockdown) and the whole team at Monkey Puzzle went above and beyond to make her happy and comfortable. The whole team are so kind, caring,
fun-loving, enthusiastic and very creative with the activities they come up with for the children. My mind is totally at ease about her welfare when she is there, and the strong bond she has now formed with the staff is so wonderful to see and credited to the wonderful work they do. We are sadly leaving the area and so have to find a new nursery, and Monkey Puzzle really has set the standard for what we are hoping to find.

My son joined Monkey Puzzle Chesham in September 2020 - and were able to accommodate us after our previously booked nursery closed down on short notice.
The staff have always been friendly and welcoming, and they really go above and beyond to provide a range of different sensory and cultural experiences
for the children. In particular, all staff from management to key workers, provide care specifically to meet each individual child's needs.
I am particularly grateful for the dedication and care from staff during the settling period - my child's needs for sleep, feeding and comfort were always met, which helped him to settle in quickly and smoothly.
Overall, my son really enjoys attending this nursery, and the activities and encouragement from the staff have definitely encouraged his development. I would definitely recommend this nursery to another parent!

My daughter started with Monkey Puzzle Chesham a few weeks ago. I was really worried about how my Covid baby would settle, having had very little contact with others. The first few settles were tough and I was feeling very anxious. It’s been three weeks now since she has been attending the nursery full
time and she has settled so much quicker than I expected, which I believe is a testament to the team in her room and management. I am so grateful for the way the team worked with me to settle my girl and make things work for us. They have been very flexible and very happy to listen. It’s a weight off my shoulders. It’s lovely to see the updates I get now throughout the day and the wonderful photos showing her enjoying nursery!

I am so pleased to be taking over Monkey Puzzle Chesham as the new Owner and excited to see all the positive changes I have planned and made come to life already. My main focus has been community events and partnerships, improving the indoor children’s rooms and cleaning up the garden.


Chesham is very community focussed which I love, so we have arranged many exciting outings such as visiting the dentist and doctor, a trip to see Dear Zoo at the Elgiva Theatre, visits to the 2 closest care homes as well as and having the PCSO to come and visit us. I am in the process of painting the nursery and making the setting look more inviting for the children and staff. We have a new incentive called Monkey P’s where the staff are rewarded with points which amount to vouchers if they receive Employee of the Month, or Room of the Month if a visitor or parent mentions them positively.
