The Chapel Nursery is a purpose-built facility, set up at The Chapel at West Hill in Dartford.

The Chapel is a tastefully and carefully restored hospital chapel with a detailed plan to house the children's nursery.

The large rooms are bright and open plan with age appropriate toilet facilities and supported access to the outdoor play area. There is plenty of outdoor space for children to play within the boundary of the nursery where children can engage in creative and imaginative play or sit quietly to read a book or write a shopping list.

The professional and caring team provides a safe and enabling environment, ideal for children's learning and development.

The Chapel Nursery uses a web based system to communicate a detailed daily account of each child's experiences and movements, enabling them to track and learn about their child's development. The nursery also has full CCTV monitoring installed throughout.

The nursery bases the children's learning and experiences on a book of the month as well as the children's interests. Creative activities are used and extended on a daily basis to engage all the children. They focus heavily on developing independence, starting with supported activities in the toddler room to independent activities in the pre school room.

The nursery is at a prime location which attracts many babies/toddlers. Unfortunately the care that this place provides is not good enough:
1) This place only caters for healthy children (who they deem easy). My little one was ex premie and had some care rules from the Hospital discharge letter which
the nursery had the ability to follow, they requested access to every hospital letter which we provided and then refused him to come back. Thankfully another Nursery accepted my baby boy without any issues and now he is flourishing with great care.
2) What they write on the app doesn't match the verbal update. For instance they write (ate no lunch on app) but at collection they say he ate a lot.
3) The managers would not reply at all for weeks if there are concerns unaddressed. At one point, there was no manager at the nursery for 2 weeks (due to illness) without replacement to reply.
4) Quite dirty of a place if I have to compare against other local nurseries.

I would highly recommend this nursery. It is such a huge thing to trust somebody with your baby. But they are nurturing my son. I cannot believe how quickly he has settled. The communication is excellent. The key person approach means that my child is understood and his needs are met. The planning is
detailed and thematic. The range of activities that they do is fantastic. My son loves the routine and thrives on it- he does circle time at home with us as a family! All members of staff try to spend as much quality time as possible with the children so that they form positive relationships quickly. Management is wonderful and takes a real interest in my son's well-being. There is such genuine love and care in everything that they do. I am so relieved that I chose them to be the first step in a child's education. He is making leaps of progress already and is so happy!

My daughter came here and still talks about her teachers here, staff have a wealth of knowledge and are always there to listen with empathy and help with any concerns. I was also given brilliant advice for my older son who was struggling at school. Amazing nursery and staff.

As a parent, it was nice to be invited into the nursery to take part in Christmas arts and crafts. Being able to just sit with my daughter in the nursery environment and speak with the key workers. It was just a nice warm experience to know my daughter is in safe and happy hands with the nursery. I’d
like to take part in opportunities like this and get involved more as my daughter develops at the nursery.

Leaving my baby at 10 months was so difficult but The Chapel made it so much easier. The settling-in sessions were well organised and they sent lots of photos to reassure us. He settled very quickly, has established a good routine and enjoys going and seeing his friends and the lovely staff. The app
is great and receiving the updates and photos each day are often the highlight of my day at work!

Communication is brilliant, especially as you can send messages, rather than calls. The staff are very reassuring, look after him well, put a lot of thought into giving the little ones different activities each day, including lots of messy play and art/craft activities, and notice new things that he's achieved. It's a lovely space with a nice garden. The staff also record food, naps, nappy changes etc on the app is really useful, as well as helping me feel connected to my boy during the day.

I highly recommend viewing the nursery and seeing for yourself.

My child is supported and loved at every setback or challenge but celebrated with milestones he accomplishes. The staff are well trained and professional. We are so lucky to have a daycare that looks after him as if he was with family.

Nothing but positive things to say about The Chapel Nursery. They are a lovely, friendly, supportive nursery with an amazing space for the children to learn. My little boy has come on so much since joining last year & I couldn’t ask for a better place for him to learn.

Our baby was born during the pandemic, I found it really hard to settle the baby at nursery. The Chaple Nursery team spent lots of time and patience working with our family, we worked very closely to build up the baby's confidence and all the development.
This is a nursery I would listen to parents'
opinions and suggestions, they are willing to spend lots of time and effort on each child. They don't just babysit the child, they do care about children's development.
They also update their activity calendar planner, daily update, consistently checking with parents to assure everything is at the right place. We strongly recommend this nursery to all our friends and family.

Very happy with the nursery and how they are taking care of my son. I have seen amazing development and growth in my son since he has been attending. He has settled in well and seems to have a good relationship with the staff at the nursery. The staff are very friendly and supportive.

Such a lovely nursery setting, my little boy loves going in and some days it's a struggle to get him out!
His teachers, especially key workers, put so much time and attention into the days and get them to try new things which, as parents, we don't always have time to do on a day-to-day basis.
My
youngest is due to start soon and I hope he loves it just as much!

It is an excellent nursery, my son is well cared for and has learned a lot.
My son is two years old and he is very happy and we as parents are also of the high level of learning that he has learned.
Thanks

I drop off and collect my grandson most weeks at least once. He is very happy to attend and loves his helpers and classmates. My experience of the nursery is excellent, at handover in the morning they always ask how his evening was and check if there is anything they need to know. Upon collection, they
give a brief report of how his day went, including what he has eaten and any issues we need to be aware of. The nursery assistants are always happy and friendly and go out of their way to help. (E.g. for his birthday party we didn't have a list of names of who he plays with, the girls compiled a list and labelled the invitations ensuring parents received them and even told us when some parents had accepted!). There have been times when he was going through phases of learning and the team made sure they built on the work we had put in at home (e.g. potty training). I really cannot fault anything and believe the nursery deserves to be awarded Outstanding in every category.

Great setting with loving and caring staff. Both my sons attended full time with my youngest still attending, and they love it. As a parent, I've always had peace of mind when my kids attended the nursery and were confident that they were looked after.

Current Review Score: 8.9 (8.874)

Overview of Review Score

The Review Score of 8.9 (8.874) out of 10 for The Chapel Nursery is based on a) the Average Rating and b) the number of positive Reviews.

  • a) The Average Rating is 4.5 out of 5 from 9 Reviews in the last 24 months.

  • b) The score for the number of positive Reviews is 4.3 out of 5 from 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months.

Detailed Breakdown of Review Score

The maximum Review Score for a Day Nursery is 10, which is made up from the Average Rating of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) and the Number of Reviews (maximum of 5 points) in the last 24 months:

  • a) 5 Points are available for the Average Rating from all Reviews in the last 24 months.

    The Average Rating of 4.533 for The Chapel Nursery is calculated as follows: ( (90 Excellents x 5) + (4 Goods x 4) + (1 Satisfactorys x 3) + (4 Poors x 2) + (8 Very Poors x 1) ) ÷ 107 Ratings = 4.533

  • b) 5 Points are available for the number of Positive Reviews in the last 24 months. A Positive Review is defined as any Review with an 'Overall Experience' of '4' or '5' (out of a max rating '5').

The 4.341 Points relating to the number of positive Reviews for The Chapel Nursery is based on 8 positive Reviews in the last 24 months and is calculated as per below:

The 5 points available are broken down as follows:

    • i) 4 points are available for the first 10 Positive Reviews in the last 24 months; 3 points for the first Positive Review, and then 0.125 Points for each of the next four Positive Reviews and then 0.1 Points for the next five Positive Reviews. (1st = 3.000, 2nd = 0.125, 3rd = 0.125, 4th = 0.125, 5th = 0.125, 6th = 0.100, 7th = 0.100, 8th = 0.100, 9th = 0.100, 10th = 0.100) 3 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.125 + 0.1 + 0.1 + 0.1 = 3.8

    • ii) 1 point is available for the number of Positive Reviews reaching 20% of the number of registered child places in the last 24 months. If this number is partially reached, then that proportion of 1 point is given. eg a Day Nursery registered for a maximum of 50 child places has to reach 10 Positive Reviews to receive 1 point, if it has 7 reviews it will receive 0.7 points. 20% of the 74 number of registered child places is 14.8. 8 Positive Reviews ÷ 14.8 = 0.541

  • When a Review is submitted by someone who has previously submitted a Review, only the latest Review will count towards the Review Score.

  • If a Day Nursery does not have a review in the last 24 months, then it will not have a Review Score.
